Chapter 969: Chapter 968 Misunderstanding (2)
“What? Huanhuan is at your place? When did she come back? How come I didn’t know?” Wen Chi heard this and lost his usual composure, firing off several questions at Shu Pan.
“Chi, don’t worry, she came back around noon. I guess she came here first because you weren’t at home. Why don’t you come pick her up later?” Shu Pan soothed him, clearly aware that the young couple had had a spat.
It’s better to let them talk it over face to face; otherwise, keeping it bottled up might affect their relationship.
“Alright, thank you, Shu Pan. I’ll come to pick them up right now.” Wen Chi hung up the phone, spoke briefly to Gao Jie and Song Ying, and left, mentioning he had urgent matters to attend to.
“Do you need help?” Gao Jie asked worriedly, seeing his anxious expression and not knowing what the emergency was.
“No need, thanks. I can handle it. I’ll treat you next time; sorry about today.” Wen Chi said before leaving.
“Could it be something serious?” Song Ying asked somewhat anxiously.
“Probably nothing major?” Gao Jie thoughtfully watched Wen Chi’s retreating figure, noting the call had come from a woman.
Because when the phone rang, he glanced at the screen, and it seemed a woman named Shu Pan had called.
This kid couldn’t possibly have a girlfriend that he’s keeping so secretive, could he? Gao Jie mused.
He definitely needed to interrogate him thoroughly next time.
As Wen Chi drove, his mind was in turmoil, trying to figure out what could have happened.
She had come back at noon, and when he called her, she sounded down. Turns out, she didn’t want to see him.
Soon, the car arrived at Qiyuan.
The moment he parked the car, Wen Chi quickly got out and strode in.
“Huanhuan….” His voice preceded him.
Hearing the noise outside, Huanhuan opened the door and stepped out. A handsome figure quickly approached and hugged her tightly.
“My dear, I missed you so much. Why didn’t you tell me you were coming back? You really deserve a spank on your PP.” Wen Chi said, unable to bear to blame her.
“Did your cousin-in-law tell you?” That traitorous cousin-in-law.
“Thank goodness she told me, otherwise I’d still be in the dark.” Wen Chi planted a kiss on her face.
“Let’s go inside to talk.” Gu Huanhuan pulled Wen Chi into the room, wary of embarrassment if the cousin-in-law and others saw them outside.
Shu Pan knew the moment Wen Chi entered, she had specifically made space for them.
The young couple had not seen each other for over two months; absence truly makes the heart grow fonder.
“Huanhuan, what happened? Even if you’re going to sentence me, you should tell me what crime I’ve committed. I want to appeal.” Wen Chi said, feeling wronged.
“Wen Chi, think about it. Did you do anything to betray me while I was away?” Gu Huanhuan looked into his deep eyes and asked.
“No, my dear, where did your mind go? How could I possibly betray you?” Wen Chi hurriedly replied, feeling unjustly accused.
“Really, like accepting a beautiful woman’s invitation to go out for dinner or a movie. Those count as emotional cheating.” Gu Huanhuan gently hinted.
“No, oh, I had dinner with a colleague and Gao Jie tonight. This colleague just returned from the US and isn’t very familiar with the area, so the three of us went out to eat.” Wen Chi answered honestly; everything was aboveboard.
“Does that female colleague have feelings for you?” Gu Huanhuan continued to probe.
“I doubt it, she’s a classmate and a colleague. She hasn’t said she likes me, are you thinking too much?” Wen Chi was somewhat defeated by Gu Huanhuan’s persistence.
