Chapter 185: No Fatigue (1)
Lucas after getting ready went toward the center of the shelter. He saw everyone sitting near a Dakota fire pit, it was burning while food was being prepared over it.
Lucas took a sniff and it was like a tsunami of saliva had invaded his mouth. He gulped and went near only to feel even more hungry, to the point that his stomach started growling.
"Were you successful this time?"
"I just told you he was successful!"
"I want to hear from him!" John responded while showing a hand to Jerry who fumed in rage.
"You little-
"Yes Yes, I succeeded, don't go fighting now. I have some things to tell you."
Lucas told them everything about the body tempering skill making many think that it was something impossible.
"But how can you get such a title from just exercising? I mean, they looked tough and all but they still were just stretching exercises." Haley said with indifference as if it was normal.
Lucas's eyes twitched in response but he gave her his smile. Sarah froze with that smile. She knew it clearly and even Haley did because they had already been prey to that smile.
"If you think it's easy, then what a wonderful will you have. Let's just get you this title quickly. We start training in the morning."
"Uh… no thanks. I don't need it for now."
"You do." Lucas said with the same plastered smile. The same smile he had when he trained her with the spear.
Haley darted her eyes toward Jerry who just gave her the thumbs up with a grin making her think that the gorilla was just too dense and dumb.
"I will help you too! It's due time that you get this title… hahahahhaha" Jerry burst out in laughter and the weird part was that he had no idea what Haley was thinking about.
"… Alright. But how can I waste your time with just the two of us? Let the others join us too!"
Sandra glared at Haley, Sarah was the same, thinking that Haley had set them up for hell.
"It is decided then! Training starts tomorrow morning and I want everyone there, no excuses. With just a bit of hard work, you can get so many perks on your own. I mean who wouldn't want them?"
"Me"
"Me"
"Me"
"Me"
Lucas was bombarded by the devil chorus again, he looked at everyone who didn't want the title and could not understand why.
"I already am very near the level 5 mark for all my skills, I don't want anything to do with anything extra for now."
"Yeah, me too."
"We are already happy enough that our leader got it. What more do we need now?"
Lucas felt wronged, he was looking forward to training everyone and seeing them scream and acknowledge what hell Lucas was in, while trying to get the first technique completed.
"This is the real world, dear boy. You can't force them for anything they don't want for now. It will only backfire." Lucas heard John say, his small smile still on his face, the same smile that made others think that he was a version of an old man who had already experienced everything in his life.
"While me, Jerry, and you are fixed upon getting strong, it is not necessary that everyone will go on this path. It is not something that you can just force upon someone."
"I get it…"
Lucas said which made everyone bless John by a hundredfold.
"But I will still pester you all for this skill! See how you get out of my hands. Haley! Sandra and Sarah! You will be up in the morning and come to me, got it!?"
"Yes!" Haley, Sandra, and Sarah said in unison without thinking making them regret it dearly. Discover stories at My Virtual Library Empire
John just chuckled in response, seeing how Lucas was like a drill sergeant doing everything in his power to just make everyone do what he wanted.
So was the quality a leader needed. Lucas was still pretty weak in leadership but he was progressing relatively fast and impressive for his age.
"Alright, who is going to help me with this concrete project?"
"No concrete project for now! We can't risk it right now. Go do your training for now." John stated with seriousness which Lucas could not refute.
"Fine… how about we complete the canal?"
"Not happening."
"Fine! I will just do it myself!" Lucas grunted in response and went toward the shelter's gate to leave.
"Don't you want to eat?"
"No!"
Lucas opened the gate and closed it from behind with a thud.
"He is so mature sometimes which makes me forget that he is still a kid."
"True."
The camp had a good time laughing seeing Lucas all grumpy but Haley, Sandra, and Sarah knew that they were I for a ride tomorrow.
Lucas was already out of the shelter and far from it. He was going toward the canal that he reached only in 4 minutes making a smile bloom on his face.
'It had already been this much progress huh…'
Lucas went toward the 4 feet-deep ground that he with the others had excavated to this extent. It was a long line with various cuts and corners.
All of them looked curvy but not to the point that if the pressure behind the water from the river increases, the water all comes out.
It was made with extensive planning, mainly done by John and to some extent, Lucas. Lucas came to know just a few weeks ago that his common sense for these kinds of stuff was higher than others.
While John was a knowledge bank, Lucas was the king of curiosity. He needed to know everything, every small detail related to how everything was made.
His potions were also a hit because of this quirk of his.
Lucas went inside the 4-foot-deep man-made canal and after a bit of digging. Some equipment came into his hands.
He had hidden them here for emergency situations like these where he wanted to come and forgot about the equipment.
Lucas took the shovel and pickaxes and with a long breather, started working on the river.
STEP STEP STEP
He looked up and saw someone come toward him.
"What are you doing here?"
