Chapter 139: Body strengthening has begun! (2)
"And when you heal those muscles, do they return to normal or do they expand and become better like they are supposed to do?" Lucas asked making Ella look at him with surprise.
The surprise soon turned to curiosity when she kept a hand on John and her eyes moved here and there as if she was examining him.
"You only depleted your mana. Let me look at him for reference."
Ela made her way to Jerry who was filled with sweat while he training in the way of the shield.
He was bashing the buckler forward and then returning back in a systematic way. Lucas could feel that the force was pretty solid at which he was moving forward with firm and properly gripped footwork.
"Jerry, pardon the intrusion." Ella came very close to him while he practice and finally stopped.
"Hm?" Jerry asked after moving his gaze toward her with confusion.
Before he knew it, Ella's hand was on Jerry's shoulder and the right time never came to ask her what the heck she was on about.
Jerry didn't want to disturb her as she may have been looking at his body here and there but her eyes were dazed and unfocused as if she was looking at something beyond his skin.
"Oh my god! Why didn't I think of this sooner?!" Ella keep a hand on her head while the other just hung without care.
"So what is it?"
Ella looked at him with wide eyes while Lucas was the same, it seemed there were many passionate workers inside the shelter who were too deep inside their works and minds.
"When I heal you all, the muscle reverts back to normal but that should not be the case at all! Your muscles are supposed to keep hurting and torn in order to let them increase in strength and stamina naturally with time."
"So all this time, our body is not developing normally?' John asked with a tilted eyebrow.
Jerry just decided to listen to everyone yet he didn't have a single clue as to what was happening.
"No, it is, and not at the same time. Your muscles increase naturally but I am the one that is hindering and slowing it down to some extent. I am really sorry everyone."
Ella apologized from the deep of her heart but Lucas just let John take care of her while he was in his thoughts.
'So, if I could just heal naturally, will my strength increase more than normal?'
"From now on, I will not be healing you all when you are exhausted. This will help you in getting to your expected strength and muscle level better than before." Ella concluded for which the others nodded in agreement.
"It is good that you noticed it early, I might have ruined your progress with this. Again, I am really sorry."
"No need for apology, Aunt Ella. You were only thinking about the betterment of us all. I will go continue my routine now if you all don't mind, the day is going to end soon."
Lucas made some unnecessary small talk with the others and went outside the shelter's territory in order to progress his herbalism and perception eyes skills.
Lucas ventured into the forest outside the shelter's territory, feeling a sense of determination to improve his skills. He had been focusing so much on combat training and healing that he had neglected some of his other abilities, like herbalism and perception eyes.
With a renewed sense of willpower, he decided to spend the rest of the day honing these skills.
As he walked through the dense forest, he carefully examined various plants and herbs, trying to identify them based on his limited but vast knowledge.
He went his way forward to the areas that he had never been to before like the West.
He went on and on and on and on while examining the herbs and putting the useful ones inside his wooden bucket that he especially carried with him.
After going alone for 40 minutes straight, Lucas started hearing some weird distant noises.
He stopped and activated his perceptive eyes again only to feel nothing but the same old plants of different kinds all around him.
'What is this sound?' Lucas closed his eyes and let his senses take over.
Guided by his heightened senses, he decided to follow the sound.
After some time, he stopped again, "Water?"
Lucas felt a bit weird and excited at the same time.
By using his ear's sensitivity to sound, It led him through the dense overgrowth of the forest until he stumbled upon something majestic and beautiful, a small river flowing within the forest.
The water shimmered with a faint bluish glow, and the surrounding area exuded an aura of freshness.
Intrigued and scared, Lucas approached the lake cautiously. As he got closer and closer, the sound was now perfectly clear, the flowing river was moving from the west to the east, Lucas cautiously moved near until he found out that it was some kind of a freshwater river with fresh and see thought waster showing all the pebbles and different rocks on the surface that was about 4 feet deep only.
Things were going too smoothly and well and finally, Lucas noticed a peculiar sight—a group of small but colorful fish swam gracefully inside the river near to the surface.
"A new food source!" Lucas exclaimed thinking that he did it inwardly alas he was too happy to notice.
These fish were unlike any he had seen before, with glowing scales that seemed to change colors with the reflection of the sunlight.
Lucas marveled at the sight, feeling a sense of wonder and excitement.
He went near and near until he was just a step away from the water body, Lucas was not wearing any shoes or socks as they had long been destroyed from overuse.

His dirty feet went inside the water and his chest shivered from the coldness of the water.
Lucas felt like he was on the top of the world, first those blueprints and now such a big achievement.
