Legendary Broken Player - VRMMORPG

Chapter 740 - A Promise to Return

Broken stood in the dimly lit room, his breathing ragged as he gripped the spear tightly in his hands. Around him lay the scattered corpses of monsters, their forms slowly disintegrating into shimmering pixels that faded into the air.

He had faced this trial almost every day, using every moment he could to train. And now, finally, he had conquered the 10th floor.

[Congratulations! You have successfully cleared the Tower of Trials 10th Floor.]

[...]

[You have achieved an S score!]

[You have earned the reward: 1 Gatestone.]

Broken reached out and took the item that had materialized before him. At last, he had the Gatestone in his grasp! After all the grueling effort of climbing through the floors of this trial, he had finally earned it.

With this Gatestone, he could set a new gate in the capital city of the Dissidia Kingdom. It meant he could now travel instantly between Slumdon and the capital, a feat that would save him from the long, arduous journeys he had endured before.

If anything major happened again, he wouldn't need to spend endless hours covering the distance just to be there. This newfound convenience also brought him peace of mind. He could leave Alora behind in the capital, knowing she'd be safe, while he ventured far away for what might be a long time.

On a previous floor, Broken had obtained the Moonlight Passkey, an item he could give to someone and invite them into his Moonlight Dimension. However, he had deliberately kept the passkey for the time being, pondering carefully about who would benefit most from receiving it.

His thoughts inevitably circled back to Ivana. He knew that if he could secure both Alora and Ivana in the Moonlight Dimension during emergencies, it would be a significant advantage. This decision weighed heavily on him, but it only confirmed what he already knew—his next steps were clear.

The time had come for Broken to leave the capital and embark on his journey.

Stepping out of the tower, he found himself outside, where Alora stood waiting with her striking red hair. She approached him with a calm grace, and without hesitation, Broken wrapped his arms around her, holding her tightly.

This had become a habit for him whenever he was with Alora. In her embrace, he found comfort—a solace that eased the burdens he carried.

It felt as if all his exhaustion and the tension in his mind melted away the moment he held her close.

It was something entirely new to him, this warmth he had only discovered after settling into life in the capital. Each day was consumed by endless tasks, and each night brought the quiet intimacy of spending time with the queen.

They released each other from the embrace, their hands naturally intertwining as they began walking out of the dimly lit chamber. As they exited the area, Cecilia's form appeared, hovering gracefully nearby.

"I've obtained the Gatestone," Broken announced.

"That's certainly a reward you need right now, isn't it, Master?"

"However..." He turned his gaze to her. "Tell me, Cecilia... would it be possible to set up the Gatestone inside my Crawling Golem? Somehow, I feel like it would make things far easier if I could quickly return to the capital and then resume my journey from wherever the golem happens to be."

"Yes, Master, you can indeed set up the Gatestone within your golem," Cecilia confirmed. "But there is a risk."

"A risk?"

"Yes. If the golem is destroyed in battle, you will lose access to the gate as well. That would be a significant loss, given how valuable the Gatestone is."

Broken nodded slowly, processing her words. "That seems fair enough."

The thought lingered in his mind as he resolved to continue challenging the Tower until he could secure another Gatestone or Passkey. He would need more of both if he wanted to ensure long-term flexibility.

"And one more thing, Cecilia..."

"Yes, Master?"

"If Alora were to take on the trial herself, say on the 9th or 10th floor, would she also be able to earn similar items?"

Cecilia's expression softened slightly. "Unfortunately, the items you obtained are unique and special rewards. Only you are eligible to receive them, Master."

Broken sighed. "It would've made things much easier if she could also obtain items like these. It would speed up the process of collecting more resources."

The next morning, Broken was ready to depart for Deadbay City. Knights and guards stood at attention as he and Alora faced each other for their farewell moment.

"Are you sure you don't need to bring even a single knight from here, Your Grace?"

Alora asked, her tone casual—something reserved for when they were alone, away from the public eye.

"I'm certain," Broken replied with a calm smile. "They'll be more valuable here, as I've already gathered enough forces to accompany me… My Queen."

They embraced once more, holding onto the moment before stepping apart.

"I'll return as soon as I'm needed," Broken promised.

"You don't need to worry about me," Alora replied. "I'll safeguard this kingdom and everything within it. Besides, we have more allies now than ever before."

Their eyes lingered on each other briefly. Finally, Broken turned and climbed into Beebot, the Crawling Carriage.

The knights lined up in perfect formation, their armor gleaming as the Carriage began to move. As one, they raised their voices in a powerful chant, their words echoing through the air:

"For the Sovereign and the Realm!"

Broken's journey to Deadbay City had a clear purpose: to complete the Golem Ship, a vessel he intended to use not only for his expedition to the West Continent but also for journeys far beyond that.

The world of Yunatea was vast, with countless continents yet to be explored. Even with all he had seen and done, there was still so much left undiscovered. Yet, with the meticulous preparations he had made, he felt a newfound confidence to face what lay ahead.

His first mission was to locate Ivana. Despite Maylock and the others' persistent efforts to track her down, her whereabouts remained a mystery. This unresolved matter weighed on him, and as he thought about her, his mind drifted back to a conversation they had shared.

It was a quiet moment, the two of them seated together on this very Crawling Carriage. The memory played vividly in his mind, a bittersweet reminder of her presence and the bond between them.

Ivana had laughed softly, her voice warm and genuine, as they were discussing Broken's plan to take her to the West Continent. She had been searching for the place marked on the bracelet she always wore.

"You're laughing at me again," Broken had said.

"Yes," Ivana had replied. "Because you're so funny."

"You laugh at everything, though. Even the most boring things somehow turn into jokes with you."

"That's true… but with you, it's different. You don't just make me laugh—you're actually fun to be around."

"Was that a compliment?"

"Do you really doubt the sincerity of my words, Broken?"
