What intrigued Ethen was why Liyan Khan was bringing it up now.
"Great! Ethen, to be frank, the situation inside the coliseum is extremely complex, and it's not as positive as the news reports suggest. Our military and Battle Pet Masters are facing difficulties, particularly with certain supplies that are being consumed rapidly and can't be replenished in time. I sincerely invite you to use your abilities to help the Alliance synthesize some urgently needed supplies..." Liyan Khan explained quickly.
Upon hearing this, Ethen understood. So, they needed his assistance in production? Synthesizing supplies wasn't a difficult task for his pet, Rainbow.
"The rise and fall of the world is the responsibility of every man. I am willing to serve the Alliance," Ethen readily expressed his willingness to help.
"Good, good, good! You truly are a fine young man! It wasn't in vain that I recommended you to Director Mike. I'll inform Mike of your decision right away..."
Having heard Ethen's willingness to assist the Alliance, Liyan Khan hurriedly ended the call.
"Hello, Senior Liyan Khan, hello..." Ethen called into the phone repeatedly, but the line had already been disconnected.
He couldn't help but smile wryly, surprised at how urgent Senior Liyan Khan's temperament was.
"Ethen, what's the matter? What did Chief Judge Liyan Khan want with you?" the team leader asked curiously. Hearing this, Alif and the others also turned their attention to Ethen.
"Senior Liyan Khan invited me to..." Just as Ethen was about to share the details with everyone, his phone rang again. This time, the caller ID showed an unfamiliar number.
Ten minutes later, a black SUV pulled up at the entrance of the Horizon Grand Hotel, and a middle aged man in black, wearing sunglasses, jumped out of the vehicle. He quickly made his way to the first floor café of the hotel.
The café was sparsely populated, with only three to five people sitting quietly in various corners. The man scanned the café's environment, compared it with a photo on his phone, and walked towards a seat by the floor to ceiling window.
"Excuse me, are you Ethen?" the man asked politely as he approached the seat.
Upon hearing this, Ethen, who was seated by the window, stood up.
"Hello, I am Ethen. Are you Director Mike, who just called me?" Ethen inquired politely.
The man in black quickly waved his hand. "No, no, Ethen, I am not Director Mike. Director Mike intended to meet you personally, but his battle pet started showing some abnormal behavior. Concerned about his pet, Director Mike asked me to meet with you on his behalf."
"Let me introduce myself. I am Angah Suit, the assistant director of the Logistics Department at Horizon Base. Director Han is my direct superior."
Upon hearing the explanation, Ethen understood the situation.
"So, you're Assistant Angah. It's a pleasure to meet you," Ethen said, shaking hands with Angah Suit before they both took their seats.
"Would you like something to drink?" Ethen offered.
"No, thank you. Time is of the essence," Angah Suit replied, waving his hand. "I am here on behalf of the base's Logistics Department to discuss a potential collaboration with you. Ethen, this is a confidential briefing document. Please have a look, and then we can discuss further."
With that, Angah Suit pulled a manila envelope from his briefcase. The envelope was sealed with a confidentiality strip, which Angah Suit opened in front of Ethen before handing over the documents inside.
"Alright," Ethen acknowledged, taking the documents and beginning to read.
Through the confidential briefing, Ethen learned that the battle within the Grand Horizon Coliseum was intense. Although the human military had managed to hold back the monster attacks, the consumption of supplies was substantial, necessitating urgent replenishment.
The sudden outbreak of war with the monsters caught the entire Alliance off guard. Even though the higher ups ordered all major military and supply factories to ramp up production, increasing capacity could not be achieved overnight.
Particularly, there was a significant shortfall in military uniforms and ammunition. There was also a notable shortage of food supplies.
After reading the briefing, Ethen furrowed his brows, a heavy expression crossing his face. He hadn't anticipated that the situation inside the coliseum had deteriorated to such an extent.
"Assistant Angah, has the situation become this severe?" Ethen asked with concern.
"That's correct. Since you're considering collaborating with our Logistics Department, I'll be frank with you. The real situation is even worse than what's described in the document. This document is from 48 hours ago, and in the last 48 hours, the monsters have intensified their attacks, causing us significant losses," Angah Suit stated gravely.
Hearing this, Ethen was taken aback and quickly checked the date on the document envelope. Indeed, it was a report from two days ago. The situation was worse than he had anticipated.
"Assistant Angah, I have a question, if I may," Ethen inquired.
"Go ahead," Angah Suit gestured for Ethen to proceed.
"I'm curious, why have so many monsters suddenly appeared in the Grand Horizon Coliseum? Wasn't the coliseum previously cleared by the Alliance multiple times? There shouldn't be so many formidable monsters there..." Ethen voiced his biggest question.
"Oh, that question involves a high level of confidentiality, and only internal personnel of the Logistics Department are privy to the details of this matter," replied Angah Suit.
"Ethen, I ask you, are you willing to join forces with the Alliance's Logistics Department to help us combat the external forces?" Angah Suit asked earnestly.
"What exactly would be required of me?" Ethen inquired.
"Production, mass production. Let me explain further..." Angah Suit immediately began detailing the specific tasks involved.
"Ethen, welcome to the Logistics Department of Grand Horizon Base. From this moment on, you are not just a university student; you are also an officer in the Logistics Department."
"For the Alliance!" Ethen nodded solemnly, and their hands clasped firmly.
Thus, Ethen officially became an officer in the Logistics Department, receiving a monthly stipend of 20,000 Alliance Coins.
