Chapter 190: Useful
The countdown projected in the sky hit zero. The numbers vanished and were replaced by a single, sharp chime that echoed across the entire landscape.
"Time's up!" the boy with the flaming lion smirked.
The lion lunged forward, leaving a trail of fire behind. Its claws aimed straight for Elias's head.
"He's mine!" The Summoned Beast of the second boy materialized right behind Elias, closing the distance in the blink of an eye.
Two people targeted Elias, not even giving him a chance to call forth his Soul Beast. They were face to face with each other over who could get the points.
The two beasts attacked Elias simultaneously, leaving no room for him to escape. The claws of both of them came straight for his life.
The Shadow Beast that had teleported behind Elias was the first to reach him, his claws stabbing in the back of the boy. But his claws failed to penetrate deeper into the boy's flesh for some reason.
The Flaming Lion was different, but his claws couldn't even reach the boy, who remained still in his place. Instead, it froze in place and turned around as its body started disappearing.
Its connection with its master was suddenly disconnected, and the summon was being undone. He didn't understand why his master was sending him back at such a time.
It was only when he looked back, he understood that his master wasn't sending him back. It was a forced removal of their link, because his master... had already died.
Only a second had passed since he attacked, and his master was already lying on the ground. There was a hole in his head, and he was bleeding, unable to even put up any resistance.
The Flaming Lion looked towards the stand, and finally noticed another presence in that place, especially in the direction where the hole in the boy's head was pointing.
A woman was sitting in the stand, holding a metallic object in her hand. And the object was now aiming in a slightly different direction.
When he looked at the aim, he found the boy who was a friend of his summoner. The second boy looked fearful after seeing the death of one of them.
He was looking around frantically, and even raised his master's body to hide behind it. He didn't tell his beast to stop the attack, as he was so close to success.
The flaming lion wanted to see more, but with the connection with the summoner being removed, he was forcefully sent back, and disappeared into the unknown.
The shadow beast behind Elias was still alive, but also confused when his claws failed to cut through Elias's bones. Just what material were these bones made from that even he couldn't cut through it?
If he couldn't hurt his bones, then he had only one choice. It was to ho for his throat.
He turned into smoke, and materialized in front of Elias, and swung his claws once more.
There was only one problem. The moment he looked at Elias, his body also froze. It wasn't because his connection was cut. Instead, it was sheer fear when he looked at the pitch black eyes of Elias.
He felt like Elias's shadow was alive, and tried to devour him. As an intelligent beast, he jumped back in fear, and stopped attacks.
The slight hesitation in its reaction was enough time for Lycorice to launch another attack. A faint bang resounded, and the second boy was struck. The bullet passed from one side of his head, and left from the other side.
Even the human shield didn't manage to help him. And just like that, the second beast also started disappearing. But his disappearance wasn't so peaceful.
When his body had just started disappearing, Elias stepped forward and grabbed the shadow beast by his throat.
"You can see, can't you?" he asked, his pitch black eyes looking straight into the depths of the beast's soul. "You have good affinity. I will keep you for myself..."
He tossed the disappearing beast down on the ground. The beast that had almost entirely disappeared touched Elias's shadow, and disappeared completely.
For everyone watching the scene, the beast had disappeared because the connection with its master was gone. Only Elias knew the truth.
The beast had simply been sent back to the shadow domain by him, temporarily halting the forceful return of the summoned beast.
After killing the two boys from the Creator Class that couldn't use any class abilities, Elias raised his head.
High in the sky, he saw a girl sitting on the shoulder of a humanoid soul beast.
Elias had thought that his class abilities were going to be suppressed by the bracelet that was used by the Academy. He didn't worry about that since he had already gained a few abilities that didn't come from his class.
To his surprise, his class abilities were also left intact, as he could still feel the creation control. He could also see the material composition of the surroundings.
The bracelet had been completely ineffective on him, to the point that it didn't matter if he had them or not. Still, he didn't use any abilities that could be detected outright.
He simply observed the girl in the sky, who had been following him along with the boys of the creator class.
He raised his hand, and pointed at the girl.
"Why is he pointing towards us?" The girl frowned. She wondered if he was calling them down, but she soon realized that she was wrong when she saw a silver object rushing towards her, reflecting light on the way up.
It was so fast that she couldn't even react. It was her Constellation that brought his hand forth, and blocked the bullet from hitting her.
"That child... He is truly ruthless. Even though you two are from the same class, he is still targeting you?" The Constellation frowned. "Should I kill him? It would save us some trouble."
