Chapter 10: 10

**Theme: Uncontrolled Metamorphosis and the Issue of Adolescence in São Sebastião**

Ah, São Sebastião, that comfortable and peaceful city where even the werewolves seem to have a more structured retirement plan than the lives of the local teenagers. Our friend Henrique, an arrogant 16-year-old riding his bike, is about to discover that true metamorphosis is not just the ability to transform into a furry creature, but the entire complicated process of being a teenager in search of identity. And yes, that includes having your entire life turned upside down by a werewolf who looks like he just stepped out of an ugliness contest.

By the way, who would have imagined that a nighttime stroll could be more exciting than an amateur theater performance? What could you expect? A chase like "what if I end up running aground in the trash or having a heart attack from being so scared?" Oh, of course! Instead of someone taking you to the school dance, you are dragged into the wild and rural world where the only "chick magnet" is a giant wolf, with teeth that shine brighter than the ones you saw in toothpaste ads.

And just when you think that the only thing that could drive a teenager crazy is a sleepless night of studying, Henrique here takes your pain to a new level... with fangirls and fangirls, of course! What can we say about "for nine months in a coma"? A true experience that not even the most anxious pregnant women would have. While his classmates complain about building an identity, Henrique wonders where he left his sense of style in the middle of a battlefield.

And then he wakes up. But not with a "Hello, I'm an ordinary young man again!", but with "Surprise! My eyes are more golden than Harry Potter's owl and I can't wait to smell scents from miles away." It's almost a superpower, but about as useful as the Seinfeldian "nothing" in a workday. Why dream of being a superhero when you can actually be a... hypersensitive werewolf on the hunt for his own identity?

Now, he sees dead animals all over town, with the residents more scared than a cat lost in a china shop. Everyone believes that the real problem may not be the presence of an "evil monster" there, but rather a "young man in crisis", turning into the version of "that person I never wanted to be".

Yes, Henrique is going through the famous "my body, my rules" phase, with a touch of "don't forget to call your therapist after devouring any animal". All this under the soft light of the moon, which instead of illuminating the way in a poetic way, looks more like a neon light flashing at a Halloween party.

And as if that weren't enough, Henrique is just dealing with the troubled pre-adolescence that includes a new thirst for blood! Yes, because now, in addition to all the normal anxieties of age, he also has to deal with the feeling that "drunk eating" has turned into "drinking blood" on a new disturbing level. How about swapping your study schedule for a more diverse menu with a touch of "gourmet cannibalism"? And please, don't forget to Instagram!

So, what's left in this tangle of transformations and existential crises? Ah, a true story that could project a series of sitcoms on TV: "Henry, the teenage werewolf and his daily dilemmas between the desire to be normal and the desire to devour normal people." Basically, life in São Sebastião could well be a show about the search for understanding and acceptance, except that, instead of group therapy, everyone is united by a greater cause: figuring out what to do when your worst nightmare becomes a second skin!

So, get ready for all the triggers of adolescence returning more ferocious than ever, complete with claws and a nightlight of problems. Because at the end of the day, who needs normalcy when you have a werewolf story right there, ready to be told by the light of the moon?
