Kaijin Fighter: So I Have to Make Monsters, So What?

Chapter 1266: Tiny Ghosts

"Uhh...what am I looking at here?" Zhen Liu asked.

"Our way of tracking Smoking Mirror, and technically the Silver-tongues," Bellona answered as she placed the last item on the room's table.

"Right..."

After the girls had returned from wherever they went to gather information, they had forced Zhen Liu to get off of the ground and seated him at the only table in the room they were staying in the evening.

Of course, they made sure to get Olstenna, Antonio, Zhen Xing and Zhen Tai away from the table before doing so.

"Stand up for a few minutes."

"Okay, okay!"

"Hmmm."

Resting on the table before him, Zhen Liu found himself staring at a ceremonial knife, a strange mirror made of mottled gold and a white feather that didn't look like it belonged to any bird that Zhen Liu recognized.

To put it another way, Zhen Liu felt like he was staring at the beginnings of a divination ritual.

Valresta was one of those worlds where the art of divination actually worked as intended, however, neither he, the kaijin or anyone else present in the room even knew how to perform a divination ritual, well, one supported by a formula at least.

"Alright, I'll bite, why?" Zhen Liu asked as he directed a questioning gaze towards the girls. "If you want me to lead a divination ritual, I'm still cut off from my main source of instructions right now. I mean, I can technically relay with the kaijin but..."

"No no, take it from me," Alice interjected. "A faulty divination ritual can lead to dire consequences more often than not."

"How do you—"

"Why do you think I was a living mask for a couple centuries?"

"Ah."

"These items are all treasures that we recovered from the [City of Mirrors]," Alicia explained. "More specifically, they're all items that were in that underground throne room and embedded in the ground."

"Oh yeah, for that ritual thing...," Zhen Liu recalled as he also remembered he was technically the reason why that ritual went unused.

From what Zhen Liu could put together, that ritual was meant to provide Smoking Mirror with the body of an unwilling sacrifice. That plan, however, went out the window and into a wood chipper as soon as Zhen Liu had accidentally supercharged the fragment of Smoking Mirror with [Chaos] and provided him with an unstable yet significantly more suitable body.

"Yeah, that ritual," Bellona continued, while reading Zhen Liu's chain of thought. "Anyways, while Alicia and I were poking around, our majin felt something was weird about these treasures. Like, it was the same weird feeling that they got off of Smoking Mirror when he showed up. But unlike him, these ones felt different."

"Oh?"

"Yeah, so we think if you infuse these items with a bit of [Chaos]..."

"Ah, I get what you're saying," Zhen Liu nodded.

If [Chaos] was enough for the fragment of a god to get a somewhat suitable body, then [Chaos] should also be enough to wake up whatever divine influence was probably locked in these treasures.

Under any other circumstances, Zhen Liu wouldn't have risked such a thing due to knowing that most ancient consciouses had the nasty habit of wanting to revive themselves through any means necessary. However, this time he made an exception for two reasons.

Firstly, the cat was already out of the bag that the [Kaijin Lord] had this very weird relationship with divinities, probably having to do with providing them bodies when necessary. At least, that's the impression Zhen Liu got when that seven foot crusader rolled up several weeks ago, followed up by Rodenia the pillbug giantess showing up with information of an old religious mural.

Secondly, and more importantly, Zhen Liu had a pretty good idea on who these other three divinities were based on knowledge from his previous life.

And if they were anything like Smoking Mirror, these three were probably a lot friendlier...probably.

Zhen Liu wouldn't know until he took the plunge.

"Alright, let's do this thing,"Zhen Liu said aloud as he attempted to decide which of the three treasures he was going to infuse with [Chaos] first.

"Alright, out of the three treasures we found," Alicia began to say in an attempt to provide her fiancee some guidance. "The pock-covered mirror felt the friendliest of the—"

"Doing all three at once," Zhen Liu declared before grabbing all three treasures and injecting them full of [Chaos].

"What ze fuck?" Harriet cursed in confusion.

"Called it!" Bellona triumphantly called out while preparing herself for the worst.

...Meanwhile, in a certain library...

<Oh, shit. I honestly didn't expect our lord would get around finding them of all deities. With all the viking stuff near the begining, I figured he would've found old One...Logos? What the fuck?>

=What? I'm not doing anything.=

<The fuck you are. Why are you building a book fort?>

=Don't you remember? One of them used to be my ex.=

<Oh yeah...wait, I thought it ended amicably?>

=Eh...=

...Now back to the private room...

"Okay...this is new."

When Zhen Liu normally infused items and materials with [Chaos], he would usually be greeted by the sudden appearance of a brand new personality popping into his head.

Whether they were a Zako or a Kaijin, they would both appear as a little voice in his head.

That didn't happen when he injected [Chaos] into this collection of treasures. Instead, he felt as if he just woke up three very ancient personalities from a very long nap.

"Man, is it just me or is the room getting—"

ZAP!

"AY CARAMBA!"

"Whoa!"

"What the fuck am I sensing?"

The next thing Zhen Liu, or anyone else in the room knew, the three treasures in Zhen Liu's hands has released a surge of counter energy and leaped out of his hands and landed back on the table.

Everyone expected the strange collection of items to clatter and possibly shatter on impact. However, that didn't happen.

Instead, much to everyone's surprise, the objects started floating and spinning on the table's surface as they were manipulated by an unseen force.

As the objects kept spinning, three distinct auras began to fill the room and eclipse the presence of everyone else...until suddenly retract into the objects themselves and stopping altogether.

"Wait, what?"

"Wait a minute, look."

However, this sudden stop wasn't due to the objects running out of power.

Manifesting around each object, Zhen Liu and the others could make out spectral figures slowly manifesting around of them.

The first to form was around the ritual knife that Lythero, Alfonzo and Olstenna had claimed from the [Hall of Glass Warriors]. The being in question resembled a deep blue skeletal warrior, the same one that menaced the trio as a giant. Albeit, this one was incredibly small and almost toy-like.

"Wait...," Antonio trailed off as he racked his brain. "Isn't that knife from—"

"Blue Mirror of War. Yeah," Olstenna answered.

The second spiritual body to manifest was from the strange pock covered mirror that Alice, Alicia, Harriet and Bellona had retrieved from the [Garden of Glass Orchids].

This being had golden skin that carried multiple deep red scars all over its bodies. Judging from the angles in which these scars were made, they were the result of self-flagellation.

"Oh dear."

"Wait...mixed amongst the scars of flagellation...I can see marks of plague, pimples and worse...a god of disease? Wait, no...he feels like someone who takes away illness..."

The last of the figures was to form was from the strange white feather that Kidanna and her followers had neglected when they were at the [Nest of Mirror Beasts].

From this feather, a small winged serpent no bigger than a garden snake manifested and coiled around itself in comfort.

"Huh...this is the most inhuman of the bunch, but it somehow feels to be friendliest of the lot too," Kidanna observed. "Also, why are they so tiny in comparison to Smoking Mirror? Did Zhen Liu hold back on that Chaos stuff?"

"It's [Chaos]," Bellona corrected. "And no. If there's one thing I know about Xiao Liu, is that he has a terrible time holding back."

"Unless it comes to night time matters," Alicia grumbled under her breath in a strangely frustrated manner.

Regardless of these grumbles though, Zhen Liu was focused solely on these strange little spiritual beings.

He knew they were only fragments of a greater whole, but he had no idea how much of a difference there would be between themselves and the real thing.

Granted, it probably didn't help that these spectral figures weren't moving despite having finished creating their forms.

"Hmmm. Normally by now, the Kaijin or zakos would start moving around or—"

BAM!

"AH!"

Before Zhen Liu could even finish his sentence, the tiny version of Quetzalcoatl suddenly pointed on Zhen Liu's face and bowled him over.
