Chapter 95: The Wind Rises
The gentleman in white played with the folding fan in his hand, his fingers caressing the jade embedded in the fan's handle before continuing, "According to what you've said, there should be two Immortals, one a burly man and the other dressed as a Scholar, and they are in pursuit of four Cultivators they aim to kill?"
"If my subordinates heard correctly, that is indeed the case. It is said these four people killed the wife of an Immortal who had been banished to the mortal realm, hence they are being pursued, and have now fled into our city and hidden their traces."
"So, if we can locate these four people, we could gain the favor of the Immortal." The gentleman in white tapped the table lightly with his fingertips, a smile on his face.
"Absolutely, my commander surmises that was the Immortal's intent in speaking openly among the crowd." Commander Liu said with a smile.
"Do they know on the other side?" The man's smile faded from his face, and his gaze suddenly became sharp.
"Master, rest assured, the news has been contained by me. The other side only knows of the Immortal's descent to earth, they are completely unaware of the specifics." Commander Liu certainly knew what the Second Young Master before him was thinking.
A genial smile appeared on the gentleman in white's face; he tapped his palm with the fan handle and said with a smile, "That's good, let my big brother search with great expectations. When hope turns to disappointment and ultimately despair, it will certainly be an interesting spectacle."
His tone remained gentle as he spoke, but his words seemed to carry a chilling wind, causing even Commander Liu to shiver involuntarily.
At the highest part of the City Lord's Manor lived the City Lord, who had grown somewhat aged. His once jet-black hair was now flecked with white, and wrinkles had crept across his once-handsome face, yet his heart, filled with ambition and desire, remained as young as ever.
A woman dressed in splendid garments was combing the hair of the aging City Lord who had begun to show signs of old age.

The woman appeared very young and was quite beautiful, resembling a vibrant peach blossom in spring, full of lively beauty. Her clean and delicate fingers held a jade comb as she meticulously groomed the man's hair before her.
Suddenly, a slightly aged but still strong hand rested on hers. A flicker of fear appeared on the woman's face, almost imperceptible, but she concealed it quickly.
"Have I aged?" the City Lord asked.
"My lord jests, you are in your prime, how could you be old?" The woman laughed softly, her voice as clear as a lark's.
"Who does not age? My two sons are watching me closely; they know I've begun to grow old," the City Lord said with a hint of melancholy in his tone.
"But I am still favored by the heavens — an Immortal has descended once again. I have heard that the Immortals possess the Medicine of Immortality, granting eternal life." In that moment, his eyes were filled with fervor.
"What? Are you not pleased to hear this news?" He turned his head, his eyes holding a hint of coldness as he asked.
The woman quickly knelt on the ground, trembling as she spoke, "I wouldn't dare be displeased, my lord. You will certainly gain the favor of the Immortal and achieve eternal life."
The man burst into hearty laughter upon hearing the woman's flattery. When the laughter subsided, he addressed the woman kneeling on the ground, "Do you know why I snatched you away from Number Two? Because I want to show him that what I want, he can't keep, and what I forbid, he can't touch."
His voice was like a wild wind raging in the bitter cold, chilling the woman's heart to the core.
The City Lord, with his hands clasped behind his back, leisurely left the place, leaving the woman kneeling alone on the ground, her thoughts unknown.
Lu Yu had no idea that with his and Zhu Ganglie's arrival, the already turbulent City Lord's Manor started to stir even greater waves. Destiny had set the stage, merely waiting for the characters to step forth one by one.
Meanwhile, Banished Immortal City seemed to suddenly be engulfed in swirling winds and surging clouds. To the citizens' surprise, the idle city guards began to bustle about, spending their days asking on the streets if anyone had seen unfamiliar faces; the access in and out of the city grew much stricter.
However, no matter how hard they tried, Lu Yu and Zhu Ganglie seemed to have vanished from the face of the earth, as no amount of investigation could uncover their whereabouts.
In a dilapidated dwelling within the city, four individuals wanted by the Banished Immortal City in secret met.
"What a crafty trick, just using the name of an Immortal has us trapped at every turn. I really don't know who could be so divine," the Taoist sighed, feeling somewhat hopeless as he faced someone who was overwhelming both in wits and strength, instilling fear in them.
"He's playing cat and mouse, probably only by tormenting us like this can he vent the anger in his heart," the Monk said, his usual smile gone from his face, replaced with a somber expression.
"Hmph! He thinks he has us completely under his thumb, not fearing that we might knock his teeth out," the old poisoner spoke with a frenzy of frustration, his patience nearly exhausted by this prolonged period of hiding and fleeing.
"What can we do when they are stronger than us? That's how the world works; those with power take the initiative," the old lady sighed lightly.
"Only by finding the techniques left behind by the Immortal do we stand a chance. Now is the time to stay calm. If we accidentally leak any information, we'll have nowhere to bury ourselves when we die. Anyway, how is the plan going?" the Taoist addressed the old lady.
"The plan is going much smoother than imagined. I truly didn't expect such darkness within this small City Lord's Manor—it's no less than what I've seen in the Imperial Palace," she noted.
"Since this world is cut off from the outside, this City Lord is no different from those Emperors. It's not surprising he has his own dark secrets. Speaking of which, that City Lord's Lady is really quite stunning," the Monk clasped his hands together, his eyes lighting up at the thought of her, unable to stop himself from licking his lips.
"Lustful Monk, don't you go causing extra trouble. The old freak has already put us in this mess, and if you spoil our plans, don't blame me for being rude," the Taoist said gravely to the Monk, his demeanor indicating he was not joking this time.
"Don't worry, I'm not a fool; of course, I understand the gravity of the situation," the Monk replied with his head bowed, knowing that when the Taoist spoke these words, he wasn't playing. The man was ruthless enough to kill his own master and fellow disciples and defect from Mount Mao, capable of anything when pushed.
"Good to know. We must be careful in our actions during this time. Whether we live or die depends on this final struggle!" he spoke with a grave tone and a determined look in his eyes.
