Journey to the West: Treasure Vase of the Great Dao

Chapter 351: Annihilation_2

Even so, the terrifying wind pressure still caused micro-damage to their organs, and many vomited fresh blood. This was a case of "when immortals fight, mortals suffer."

At this point, the Taoist had no room to retreat. He let out a great roar and showed his true form, a huge Serpent appearing on the altar, its massive body collapsing the stone structure as the 360 soldiers stationed around it fled in panic.

The Serpent raised its head high, its majestic horns radiating light, as the surrounding Serpents frantically charged towards the sky, welcoming the impending Long Spear.

The Long Spear pierced the sky, streaked across the horizon, dispelling the dark clouds and stopping the wind and rain, falling upon the Serpent. Instantly, it was split apart, and copious amounts of water fell from the sky, sweeping over the Allied Army's camp, sending soldiers scrambling in utter chaos.

The Serpent couldn't halt the speed of the Long Spear's onslaught and was breached in the blink of an eye. The Serpent could already feel the sharp presence grazing the top of its head.

In that moment, his heart was filled with fear and regret. He had not expected Great Chu to have such a powerful figure hidden behind the scenes. But there was no medicine for regret in this world, and he could only blame himself for not being fully prepared and seeking revenge with nothing but hatred.

He mustered all the strength in his body and charged towards the speeding Long Spear. The Long Spear instantly pierced his body, and the dragon scales he was so proud of offered no resistance whatsoever, torn asunder in an instant. The intense pain seared through his mind, causing him to let out a miserable roar.

The roar echoed through the skies, terrifying the Allied Army soldiers into disarray, desperately retreating, for the Serpent had gone mad. Its enormous body thrashed about in pain inside the camp, stirring up horrifying waves and sweeping away countless soldiers who couldn't escape in time.

The severe pain stoked the Serpent's ferocity. With bloodshot eyes, he devoured the nearby Allied Army soldiers, using this method to alleviate the agony of his flesh.

However, this spelled misery for the soldiers of the Allied Army, trapped between the floodwaters and the raging Serpent. Many perished as a result, leading to the collapse of morale and the emergence of deserters.

Wang Tao hid in the distance, having been warned by Taoist Zi Yang, he had already quietly moved his troops to a safer location early on. Now, looking over the wreckage that was the Allied Army's camp, he couldn't help but sigh. A crazed Serpent was already so difficult to deal with, not to mention the legendary Tea Saint. No wonder his ancestor had told him to be prepared for failure.

The Long Spear, having pierced through the Serpent, landed on the earth with a massive roar, creating an immense crater that suddenly appeared. Countless torrents of water carrying soldiers crazily surged towards the pit, eventually forming a sizable lake.

After half a day of agonized screaming, the Serpent finally regained its composure. To its amazement, it was still not dead. Although the spear strike had been fearsome, it hadn't pierced the Serpent's head, and thus his life was not endangered. The feeling of escaping death made the Serpent let out a cry of joy.

But before it could indulge in its relief, the Long Spear stuck below the surface of the lake once again burst with brilliance. This was a Divine Weapon endowed with sentience – how could it rest until its mission was complete?

An immeasurable amount of starlight descended from the sky, drawn by the Long Spear. A star suddenly appeared in the clear sky, shining so brightly it rivaled the sun.

"Destroyer Star!" Taoist Zi Yang murmured as he looked at the celestial body radiating brilliant starlight, musing that the legend of Liu Qingyun being the Destroyer Star incarnate might have some basis.

The starlight fell upon the Long Spear, and a great figure appeared out of thin air, composed solely of pure starlight, clad in silver Light Armor, wielding the Long Spear, with an indiscernible face. Yet, upon closer inspection, one could find a resemblance to Liu Qingyun.

The Starlight Giant turned his head to look at the Serpent, and a powerful oppressive force descended upon the Serpent's heart without a sound. Such a terrifying figure made the wild Serpent extremely frightened.

Not even a sliver of desire to fight remained in its heart, the gap in strength between them was too vast, and fighting head-on would be like using one's arm to stop a chariot, a path to certain death. It would be better to escape while the Giant had just appeared and his aura wasn't yet stable.

The Serpent made a split decision and turned to flee. Unexpectedly, the Starlight Giant suddenly moved, growing two additional arms from his back, and with one grab, he caught the escaping Serpent.

The Serpent's massive body seemed like a mere snake in the hands of the Giant, and despite struggling fiercely, it still could not break free from the Giant's grasp.

The Giant lifted the Serpent into the air, spreading his arms, and immense pain swept through the Serpent's body. It was the agony of being torn apart. The Serpent let out a shrill scream that spread all around, forcing countless people to cover their ears to block out the noise assault.

The Giant, however, turned a deaf ear and exerted force with his arms once again. With a loud "pop," the Serpent was ripped in half, and a shower of blood rained down, staining the newly formed lake red.

The Serpent's strong Life Force allowed it to retain consciousness even after being torn apart. It cursed the Giant like a madman, as if wanting to exhaust every filthy word in its mind.

Sadly, the Giant had no sentience, nor did he understand the meaning of these words. He merely realized the Serpent wasn't dead yet, and his mission was not complete, so he lifted the Long Spear and pierced the Serpent's head in one thrust.

The stars shone brightly, and the Serpent's hard skull was as fragile as a thin sheet of paper in front of the Long Spear, easily punctured. The Serpent's cursing abruptly stopped. The strike completely shattered its Soul, taking with it the Serpent's remaining life.

Seeing the task completed, the Starlight Giant suddenly disappeared. Only a silver Long Spear remained in the air, still emitting a glow. It quickly turned and plunged straight into the clouds. With the affair concluded, it was time to return to its master.

All of this seemed to take a long while, but it was only a moment's work, and the situation underwent a drastic change. What had been the jubilant generals of the Allied Army now had faces of grim despair. Due to the clash between the Serpent and the Giant, the Allied Army's camp was utterly destroyed, and the soldiers suffered countless deaths and injuries. It could be said that, by now, the Allied Army had no chance of opposing Great Chu any longer.

All they could think about now was how to safely retreat from this battle. The smarter ones had already covertly moved their troops, while others reacted just now, hastily organizing their forces to retreat.

Inside the city, Lu Xun was leading the generals to help the people trapped by the flood when he suddenly heard a loud cheer from the city walls. Only then did he realize that the outside army had retreated.

Some generals suggested pursuing the victory to expand their gains, but Lu Xun, looking at the wreckage of the city, calmly shook his head, rejecting this rare opportunity.

"Now that the army has retreated, they haven't suffered a major defeat, and the ground outside is nothing but mud, making it impossible for the Cavalry to catch up. The city is in this state, a reckless pursuit would likely be more trouble than it's worth. It's better to focus on disaster relief. With the Allied Army defeated, the tables have turned, and it's their turn to be on edge," Lu Xun was very calm, knowing that dealing with the disaster was more important in the current situation.

As for those fleeing cowards, there would be plenty of opportunities to deal with them later. Disappointment showed on all the generals' faces, but they also knew this was the reality. The ground outside was not conducive to a pursuit, and the city's people had already suffered unspeakably from the war, now compounded by this unforeseen disaster. It was indeed time to regroup and rest. So, on Lu Xun's command, all the soldiers were engaged in disaster relief.

This city, baptized by war and floodwaters, was revitalized in this moment. Countless people knelt on the ground in front of Lu Xun and the others to give thanks, their heads touching the earth. In a thousand years, he was the only one who truly cared about their lives and deaths. At this moment, the people's hearts were wholly with Great Chu. Lao Han stroked his beard and chuckled beside them. It seemed he could already envision the new world they were about to create.
