Chapter 15: Enigmatic Rosalina: Weaponsmith, artisan and collector
Rosalina noticed the awkwardness in the atmosphere and broke the silence as she asked:
"Ethan, why do you wear a mask? Is it to hide your identity, or is it something else?"
She knew Ethan was an orphan, so hiding his identity wasn't truly necessary in the long run.
It made sense, but she felt as if the reason was deeper and more complex than what he displayed.
"At first, it was to conceal my identity, but… it became more than just that.
In the end, Ethan is just a man, but the mask… the mask can become a symbol," Ethan said, his voice steady.
He paused briefly before continuing:
"Hope, despair, sorrow, admiration...these things can influence people, but if there's one thing I've learned in the past few days, it's that fear is the greatest weapon there is."
He noticed Rosalina gazing deeply into his eyes, but he didn't stop.
"If I wear the mask properly, I can be the symbol of fear. Fear can break a person's will. It can turn friends into foes, lovers into enemies… lies into truth."
Rosalina kept quiet, remaining glued to her seat. Ethan's words weren't those of justice, heroism, or righteousness.
Instead, they were filled with fury, hatred, and vengeance an intensity that unsettled her, making her even more concerned.
Ethan gazed at Rosalina and asked:
"What happened to that zombie? What was its name… Mardok? No, Mardon. I remember you carrying it before I passed out."
Rosalina rolled her eyes and replied:
"Calling him an 'it' is disrespectful. You're reducing his identity to that of an animal."
Ethan's voice was firm as he spoke:
"Not really. If it doesn't respect life, then it's an animal. It's dehumanized; therefore, it's an 'it.'"
Rosalina chuckled before replying:
"Ethan, we kill vampires and zombies, yes, but what about enemy Stand users?
You'll eventually kill even normies to further your agenda... does that make you an animal? If not, then you're a hypocrite."
"Am I being hypocritical? Not really. Everything depends from my perspective," Ethan smirked before continuing. "A predator hunts prey for survival, and a beast hunts for sport... making it less human, less intelligent... an animal."
Ethan stood up and moved closer to Rosalina, sitting beside her as he continued: "Both the predator and the beast have motives for hunting, but their intentions aren't the same.
I have a code, but I won't let my morality hold me back from what needs to be done."
Rosalina began to chuckle as she slightly moved away from from Ethan, she found his naive yet ruthless ambitious nature funny but attractive.
From what Ethan said, Rosalina understood that from his perspective not all lives were equal but they had a certain value.
Ethan wasn't justifying his desire to take lives, rather he was showing Rosalina how he viewed them.
Rosalina understood what he implied...the difference between a man and a beast isn't their form, but the way they think and behave.
A man is intelligent, capable of reason and choice, while a beast...an animal, relies purely on instinct.
She understood that Ethan doesn't see the world in black or white rather he sees it in shades of grey.
He respects life when it has worth, but those he deems worthless, he will eliminate.
These words spoke volumes.
They stirred something in Rosalina.
She found Ethan attractive, ambitious, charismatic, strategic, and cool-headed...Qualities she likes in a man.
He is also naïve, distinctly naïve, but that only added to his appeal.
'i continue to undress him with my eyes,
He's becoming dangerous...
First friends, then lovers... and sex... why would I want it to reach there? He's becoming a temptation.' Rosalina thought, a flicker of uncertainty crossing her mind.
Rosalina began to move away, puzzling Ethan, who continued to move closer with each passing second.
She then stopped and without looking at him, said:
"Do you want to see Mardon?"
"Sure...why not"
Rosalina stood up and walked towards her refrigerator.
She typed a sequence on its keypad, and it began to shake before sliding open, revealing an elevator.
Ethan stood up from his seat and walked toward Rosalina. "Of course you have a hidden elevator."
The jealousy and awe in his tone made Rosalina smile for a brief moment, but she quickly hid it before he could notice. "Shall we?" she asked.
.....
"Where is this elevator taking us?" Ethan asked, his eyes on Rosalina, who had distanced herself by standing in the corner.
"It's taking us to the basement floor"
Ethan noticed that, despite the elevator seeming ordinary, it had enough space for both of them.
Yet, Rosalina's refusal to acknowledge that only made him more concerned.
Ethan sighed as he looked at Rosalina and said:
"Rosalina... do you find me attractive? The sweet, rosy scent gets more intense as I get closer to you, and you're squishing your legs like you're hiding something."
A thought suddenly crossed his mind.
' Is she... aroused? Wet? No, it can't be. She did say I'm not her type.'
" You're very funny" Rosalina chuckled as she continued:
"Seeing the print of that bulge in your pants would make anyone uncomfortable... don't tell me you haven't noticed"
Before Ethan could reply the elevator stopped moving and opened.
The duo stepped out of the elevator silently.
Ethan glanced around, noticing the room they had entered was plain white, with nothing but hundreds of display cases filled with different types of weapons and artifacts.
Ethan continued to observe and noticed every weapon had a date on it's case.
Ethan gazed at Rosalina and asked:
"Do you collect weapons and artifacts?"
"No, I make weapons and artifacts."
"How? These look well-made and expensive."
Rosalina subconsciously revealed a seductive and heartwarming smile as she replied:
"No I made them using the blood of those I hunted, each weapon and artifact reveals the nature of my prey"
Rosalina began to explain that after eliminating an enemy, she uses Liquid Transmutation to turn every drop of blood in their body into something that represented her perspective of them.
' Wow that's twisted and artistic, wait didn't I collect Lilian's ashes too'
Ethan continued to follow Rosalina until they reached a dark red Crystallised coffin.
Rosalina then summoned Prism alchemy decrystallized the coffin and revealed Mardon's body.
The liquid of the decrystallized coffin began to enter Mardon's body until he was healed however his limbs were missing.
Ethan looked at Rosalina and said:
"You can heal too???",
"No that was normal blood and since he's a zombie it can partially heal him...it"
Before Ethan could continue asking more questions, the duo heard a simple yet annoying sound:
"WRYYYYYY YYYY!!!! YOU CAN'T CONTAIN ME"
