The warm evening sun bathed the villa in gold, its glow softening the edges of the ornate furnishings and manicured garden outside.
Inside, however, the atmosphere was anything but serene. Toji Fushiguro sat in his living room, legs casually crossed, though his hand gripped his glass of sake with a subtle tension.
Across from him, seated with the composure of a coiled snake, was a Zenin Clan representative.
The man was impeccably dressed in a tailored suit, his slicked-back hair and thin glasses giving him an air of calculated authority. On the table between them rested a slim black folder, its contents heavy with implications.
"Fushiguro-san," The representative began, his tone sharp and clipped. "I didn't come here to waste your time. Thirty million yen. It's a generous offer for a boy of Megumi's… potential."
He adjusted his glasses, the glare of the overhead light briefly obscuring his eyes. "You should understand what I'm offering. This isn't about money. It's about a future—a better one than you could ever hope to give him."
Toji leaned back slightly, his expression unreadable. He took a deliberate sip of sake, letting the silence stretch before setting the glass down.
"You think thirty million is enough to buy my son?" He said, his voice low and even. "You don't seem to understand, Zenin. Megumi isn't for sale."
The man's lips curled into a faint smirk. "Ah, but he isn't just your son, is he? The Zenin Clan has a claim on him—a claim you've conveniently ignored. His technique, his bloodline, they belong with us. Refusing this deal… it's not just unwise. It's disrespectful."
Toji's fingers twitched slightly, but his voice remained steady. "Disrespectful? That's rich, coming from the clan that abandoned me. Don't talk to me about claims. Megumi's my son, not yours. And I decide what's best for him."
The representative's smile faltered, replaced by a hard edge. He leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees as his tone turned cold. "You're making a dangerous mistake, Fushiguro-san. The Zenin Clan doesn't take kindly to defiance. You're a skilled fighter, sure, but let's not pretend you can take on an entire clan by yourself."
Toji's jaw tightened, his annoyance bleeding through. He knew the truth of the man's words. The Zenin Clan wasn't just powerful—they were relentless, a force that crushed anyone who stood in their way.
But the thought of handing over Megumi to those vultures made his blood boil.
"Let me make myself clear," The man continued, his voice like a blade. "If you don't cooperate, there will be consequences. Not just for you, but for your son. A boy like him, untrained, unprotected… the world is dangerous, Fushiguro-san. Accidents happen."
Toji's grip on his glass tightened until it cracked, a sharp sound that broke the heavy silence. He stood, towering over the representative, his aura radiating barely-contained fury.
"You think you can walk into my house and threaten my family?" He growled. "Get out. Now."
The representative remained seated, though a flicker of unease crossed his face.
"This isn't a threat," He said smoothly, rising to his feet. "It's a promise. Defy the Zenin Clan, and you'll regret it."
Before Toji could respond, the sound of footsteps echoed from the hall. The door to the living room swung open with a soft creak, and Liam entered, his presence like a sudden shift in the air.
The boy was dressed in a simple everyday outfit, its tailored fit emphasizing his sharp features. His slippers clicked against the floor as he stepped inside, his every movement exuding a quiet confidence that made the room feel smaller.
"Liam," Toji said, his tone a mix of respect and surprise. He straightened slightly, his earlier tension easing.
The Zenin representative turned, his gaze flicking over the boy with a hint of disdain.
"And who is this?" He asked, though his voice wavered slightly under Liam's piercing gaze.
Liam didn't answer immediately. Instead, he took his time, glancing around the room as if surveying the situation. He walked to the table, picked up Toji's cracked glass, and examined it with mild interest before setting it down.
"Who am I?" Liam finally said, his voice soft but carrying an undercurrent of authority. He smiled, the expression almost playful, though his eyes were anything but. "I'm the one who decides who leaves this house alive."
The representative stiffened, his confidence faltering.
"I'm here on behalf of the Zenin Clan," He said, trying to regain his composure. "This is a private matter. It doesn't concern you."
Liam chuckled softly, a sound that sent a chill down the man's spine.
"Everything that happens in this villa concerns me," He said, stepping closer. Despite his small stature, his presence filled the room, his very existence radiating power. "Toji works for me. That makes his problems my problems. So why don't you tell me exactly what kind of 'private matter' you're here to discuss?"
The representative hesitated, his usual arrogance tempered by the boy's commanding presence.
"I'm here to negotiate for Fushiguro Megumi," He said carefully. "The Zenin Clan is willing to pay handsomely for him."
Liam tilted his head, feigning curiosity.
"Handsomely?" He repeated, his tone almost mocking. "Thirty million yen, was it? That's not payment. That's an insult."
The man bristled, but Liam continued before he could respond.
"Let me make this simple for you," He said, his voice turning cold. "Megumi isn't for sale. Not now, not ever. And if the Zenin Clan has a problem with that, they can take it up with me."
The representative's face turned pale, a bead of sweat sliding down his temple.
"You don't understand who you're dealing with," He said, though his voice lacked conviction. "The Zenin Clan—"
"The Zenin Clan?" Liam interrupted, his Mangekyou Sharingan activating with a subtle flicker. The swirling patterns locked onto the man's gaze, and he froze, trembling as an oppressive force pressed down on him. "Don't make me laugh. Bring your clan leader next time. Maybe then we'll have a real conversation."
He stepped closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "But if you come back without him… the only thing leaving this villa will be your corpse."
The representative didn't need to be told twice. He stumbled backward, his composure shattered, and fled the villa, slamming the door behind him.
Toji let out a low whistle, shaking his head.
"You didn't have to go that far, kid," He said, though a hint of admiration flickered in his eyes. "Now the Zenin Clan might come knocking for real."
Liam smirked, deactivating his Sharingan. "Let them. It's about time someone reminded them they're not invincible."
He picked up the cracked glass from the table, studying it briefly before tossing it aside. "Besides, I doubt they'll want to risk losing face after today."
Toji chuckled, pouring himself another glass of sake. "You've got guts, I'll give you that. Thanks for stepping in."
Liam raised an eyebrow, a playful grin tugging at his lips. "What are you thanking me for? I wasn't here to help you."
He turned, his jacket billowing slightly as he walked toward the door. "I was here to make sure my investment stays intact. Megumi and Tsumiki are safe as long as they're under my protection. And if the Zenin Clan wants to test that…"
He paused, glancing over his shoulder, his eyes gleaming. "…they're welcome to try."
With that, he left the room, his footsteps echoing in the silence.
Toji watched him go, a rare smile crossing his lips.
"Kid's got style," He muttered, taking a long sip of sake.
