Chapter 226
On the day Yena and J. Dox conducted their chaotic collaboration and soul-stealing duel, the community’s reaction was explosive and multifaceted.
Most of the initial posts were about Yena’s appearance. Screenshots of her face or short recorded clips from the broadcast filled the forums.
The posts felt like they didn’t even need any explanation, almost as if Yena’s appearance alone was content worth enjoying.
Having endured constant jabs at her looks due to GetDevoured, Yena had finally started an impressive counterattack. The fandom, which had been suppressed for so long, erupted with a force beyond imagination.
There was no attempt to be selective about the community this content was shared in. Anywhere that dealt with broadcasters or had a dedicated section for video content saw dozens of videos pop up, showing the moment Yena appeared on camera.
When she awkwardly fidgeted, trying to cover the gaps in her white shirt with her fingers, multiple redundant posts showcasing this moment started to flood various communities as trending, best, or recommended posts.
As the saying goes, ‘too much of a good thing can be bad’, and inevitably, there was backlash.
Posts popped up, voicing discontent with the constant flood of pictures and videos, asking if this was GetDevoured’s fan cafe. Naturally, it reignited the battleground of opinions.
All of this, however, ended the moment J. Dox shyly uttered, “Ahn-nyeong-ha-se-yo.”
“What the hell did that crazy girl do-” With that question, fans and critics alike united for a moment of complete community integration.
Although the initial insanity started with her appearing alongside a pot-bellied middle-aged man, the broadcast turned out to be surprisingly well-executed.
Following an unexpectedly serious and interesting interview, as well as two one-on-one battles and a funeral, the community’s focus started to shift slightly but distinctly.

『Title: Claiming it’s a real counter in this context is just so irritating』
『Post: Seriously, anyone can tell that was just a skilled player overpowering a novice, right, GetDevoured Devoured… How can anyone claim that a Priest is a counter to a Rogue with a straight face LOLOLOL LOLOLOL LOLOLOL In what game does a Support counter an Assassin?』
Comments:
– …? It’s actually quite common for Supports to counter Assassins, what are you talking about?
– ㄴ People who’ve only played KoK would say that.
– But honestly, doesn’t it feel like a counter? How do you break through three survival skills?
– ㄴ Just don’t target the Priest then, no way it’s a counter LOL
– ㄴ ㄴ So you’re just letting the Priest free-heal? Even with three survival moves, half of their healing is unstoppable without buffs and crowd control.
– ㄴ ㄴ What about the others fighting alongside? If the Rogue targets the Priest, the Knight and Warrior can just take out the Archer or Mage who aren’t receiving heals LOL
– ㄴ ㄴ How many people are diving into the backline, anyway LOLOLOL
– ㄴ ㄴ Does his team have seven members or something;
– As of now, it’s not a counter, honestly. But after the stamina nerf, it probably will be. If the Priest/Mage clump together and the Knight erects a wall at a decent distance? I guarantee the Rogue won’t get through even two survival moves.

『Title: A new paradigm for Priests.』
『Post: Did anyone see the GetDevoured broadcast today, where a Priest went up against a Rogue? I felt like I’d been hit on the back of the head.
As many veteran RPG players know well, it’s actually common for buffer healers to endure damage annoyingly long with their survival skills, buffs, and heals in one-on-one situations.
The main reason Priests in KoK didn’t do 1v1s much was that it rarely happened. It’s usually hard to isolate the Priest within the enemy’s dense formation; even if they did, another person would be right there next to them.
But with Rogues growing comfortably in the Underground, things changed. Rogues kept diving solo to kill Priests, making it impossible for them to perform.
In the last two weeks alone, I broke two controllers. I’m already hot-tempered, so I chose to play a healer to calm down, but couldn’t stand it anymore. Haha.
Without further ado,
It seemed that the priest showcased by GetDevoured today was ultimately a counter to rogues. If the rogue tried to dive in, the priest could endure; if the rogue retreated, the rogue became useless, allowing the priest to freely heal.
Moreover, with plenty of survival skills, they could stand closer to the battle points. This made it challenging for the rogue to even approach in the first place, placing the priest in a significantly superior position in terms of positioning.
The key was to discard the fixed idea that a priest needed to provide buffs and use CCs. This was something worth trying out immediately.
– “If only one side fights with buffs, the outcome is obvious. I shudder at the thought of our allied priest coming without buffs.”
– “Unless there’s a rogue on the opposing side. Nowadays, if rogues start rampaging, they die as soon as buffs are given anyway.”
– “Wouldn’t our rogue go in to disrupt the enemy priest? It might surprisingly become the norm.”
– “Well, in games where duel arenas are active, it’s a common thing. Healers surviving like cockroaches… I’ve received a lot of praise in my time too, haha.”
– “Still, a priest with neither buff nor CC is a bit… Wouldn’t it be better to add another knight in that case?”
– “If it’s GetDevoured’s build, it’s worth experimenting. Remember how much the rogue was mocked in the beginning?”
Given that she had already established her reputation regarding builds and meta, the reaction overseas was no different.
Such interest inevitably spread to J. Dox, who was present, and to the game itself.

『Title: Is there another company this passionate about games?』
『Honestly, I think it’s my first time seeing it
It’s a bit touching, really.』
– “Absolutely wild.”
– “Pure skill proving true passion is awesome. Without someone like GetDevoured, none of this would’ve been understood.”
– “To land a valid hit on GetDevoured, most master priests would’ve lost their heads.”
– “Seriously, they’re so genuine. I thought it would just be a brief demonstration and a ‘Look at how cool our game is!’ moment.”
– “Agreed, they played so seriously.”
– “It’s amazing how a pot-bellied guy really tried to beat the top rank; that’s something else.”
– “If they had only relied on small ‘powers’…”
– “Just fundamentally different.”

『Developer’s pouch? Passed.

『(Photo)
Look at the new CEO.
This guy even managed the whole development.
Do you get why KoK is such a great game now?
In contrast, look at the group photo of those jerks down below.

I’m too scared of getting sued, so I blurred their logo.
But does it seem like these bastards will develop a game?
They look like they’d rather be out sipping wine at a party.
Do you think these guys understand games?』
– Why does it feel so bad even though it’s true?
– Yeah, but it’s still true, though.
– No, I listened to an interview, and they seemed really dedicated and passionate about the game. Why judge by their looks alone… jerks…
– Maybe because they are that dedicated and passionate, that’s why they look like that?
– Or, they look like that because they are so dedicated and passionate about games… it’s like a product of evolution.
– You’re the worst, you jerk.
The impact of this gradually started to spill over beyond the community.

『Title: “Ah, damn, why’s the login like this?”』
『Queue?
Was this even a thing?
Where did the server go?』
– Haven’t seen this in ages.
– A game released over a year ago now has a queue, LOL.
– No kidding, the queue shows no sign of shrinking.
– Did they reduce the servers because it wasn’t making money?
– No, if you can get in, matchmaking times are almost instant. It seems like the user count has skyrocketed.

『Faraday’s unlisted stock is skyrocketing, you morons!』
The immense momentum that started from Lee Yena’s broadcast carried forward to sweep through the whole of KoK with interest and energy.
