Chapter 713: Chapter 719: People from Sinful Sea! Mysterious Monk! (Second update)
Everyone was waiting for the Five Tribes’ stance towards Yang Zhen while also wondering: if the Five Tribes truly decided to hunt down Yang Zhen, what would Yang Zhen do to the Northern Isle?
However, all the situations imagined by the crowd didn’t happen. Not only did the Five Tribes stop causing trouble for Yang Zhen, but they also stopped mentioning him entirely.
It was as if Yang Zhen, was someone the Five Tribes didn’t know at all, someone who had never appeared on the Northern Isle.
Just when everyone was thoroughly perplexed, a piece of news completely shook the Northern Isle.
The Western Regions Sinful Sea had sent people.
“Did you hear? Among the people from the Western Regions Sinful Sea, there is a monk named Yunla. He instantly intimidated the younger generation from the Five Tribes; he even injured Lin Ding, the most reputable character from the Ancient Origin Holy Land who once vowed to behead Yang Zhen.”
“It wasn’t just an injury. He nearly killed Lin Ding. Didn’t you see how arrogant Yunla was? He seemed to have wanted Lin Ding’s life from the moment he made his move.”
“Impossible! Lin Ding is now a Peak Power Practitioner at the Divine Transformation Stage. I heard that even Yang Zhen is no match for him. How could he get injured by a monk and nearly die?”
Many people were discussing this topic. Although they mentioned Yang Zhen, he was not the focus anymore. The Western Regions Sinful Sea’s practitioners had come to the Northern Isle and immediately challenged its younger generation with extreme arrogance. It was utterly outrageous.
After Yang Zhen returned from Beiqi mountain, he had disappeared. People only occasionally saw a rascal cat out stealing food. Still, even those who followed after it tirelessly never found Yang Zhen’s traces. It was as if Yang Zhen had left the Northern Isle.
It was widely accepted, however, that Yang Zhen most likely hadn’t left the Northern Isle. Because if Yang Zhen did leave, that damn cat would have followed him.
More and more people started hoping for Yang Zhen’s appearance. Given Yang Zhen’s knack for attracting trouble wherever he went, there would undoubtedly be excitement to watch if he crossed paths with these newcomers from the Western Regions Sinful Sea.
But a half month after the Western Regions Sinful Sea arrived at Northern Isle, there was still no news of Yang Zhen. It was as if he had truly vanished from the Northern Isle.
One could now see folks from the Western Regions Sinful Sea everywhere in the streets. These were all disciples of greater powers from the Western Region, and no one dared to offend them easily.
With Yunla injuring Lin Ding—one of the best among the Northern Isle’s younger generation—with his first strike, the Western Region Practitioners became even more arrogant. Despite numerous conflicts occurring in the Northern Isle, it was rare to hear about any Western Region Practitioner coming to any harm.
“What do you think is the real reason these Western Region people have come to the Northern Isle?”
“It is said that the Northern Isle is organizing a holy meeting. Many ancient tribes and influential forces of Northern Isle have received invitations.”
“A holy meeting that brings together two continents—the Northern Isle and the Western Region?”
“I don’t know about that, but even the people of the Five Tribes of the Northern Isle have been very courteous to this Western Region delegation. I heard that among these people, some are from the Western Region powers, a super force that the whole Northern Isle dares not provoke.”
“Damn it! If they want to come, then let them. Why are they so arrogant, as if the Northern Isle is unoccupied? Lin Ding is just bluffing. He was easily injured by Yunla with a single hand, and it’s said he is still recuperating. He has truly lost face for the Northern Isle.”
In the Cold City teahouse, many people were engrossed in their discussions. A short man looked around and lowered his voice, “What do you think would happen if Yang Zhen encounters Yunla? Who do you think would have a better chance of winning?”
The people around were instantly interested and all huddled closer. A man with a big beard said, “I haven’t heard of this Yunla monk before. I just know that Yang Zhen doesn’t want to meddle in more affairs now, so most likely, he won’t fight with this Yunla.”
“How do you know?” Some curious people around asked.
The big-bearded man flashed a grin and said, “Hell, I was a witness of the Beiqi mountain fight. After Yang Zhen shattered the Divine Punishment with one sword, he was only focused on reviving the saucy rooster and wanted no trouble. Moreover, he didn’t take the people of the Five Tribes seriously at all. Rumors about him avoiding the Five Tribes are simply absurd.”
“So where is Yang Zhen now? He probably hasn’t left Northern Island yet?”
Big Beard, the burly man with tears and snot smeared across his face after witnessing Yang Zhen survive two heavenly punishments on Mount Beiqi, the first man Yang Zhen undressed at the Nether State convention, let out a snort of laughter. “Of course he hasn’t left Northern Island, but as for his current location, I have no clue. Apparently, he’s looking for something. Very mysterious,” he said.
The crowd around him showed interest immediately, bombarding Big Beard with questions.
With an appreciative grin on his face, Big Beard was about to respond, when his expression suddenly changed.
A young monk clad in a cassock and wearing a broad straw hat slowly approached. He placed his palms together and sat down next to Big Beard. Chuckling, he said, “Esteemed ones, may this humble monk join you here?”
Upon seeing the young monk, everyone’s faces changed, notably Big Beard’s, whose face depicted shock as he asked curiously, “May I know your Dharma name, venerable sir?”
The young monk hummed in acknowledgment, shaking his head as he told Big Beard, “Among worldly affairs, fate brings about destined encounters. Since we met here, why ask about something as trivial as a name?”
At the monk’s vague reply, Big Beard retorted, “Hey monk, you’re talking in riddles. If you don’t tell us your name, how can we know who you are?”
The young monk laughed heartily, placing a cloud crystal on the table, and said, “It’s not necessary for you to know who I am; just what I want to know.”
Upon seeing the high-quality cloud crystal worth thousands of purple crystals, Big Beard froze, cursed, then curiously asked, “So, what do you want to know, monk?”
Everyone around him was equally stunned, watching the mysterious monk who wouldn’t even reveal his name. They were envious of Big Beard, who was about to earn a windfall just for answering a few questions.
The young monk smiled and asked, “Do you know Yang Zhen?”
“Of course, I do!” Big Beard laughed, noticing that the young monk was not surprised at all. He winked at the monk, “Master, your question lacks originality. It’s not as mysterious as you’re pretending to be. Not just me, I bet everyone here knows Yang Zhen.”
The crowd laughed, all eyes on the young monk filled with taunting amusing glances.
Without losing his temper, the young monk shook his head and chuckled, “Did Yang Zhen ever say, ‘A flower is a world, a leaf is a Buddha’?”
Upon hearing this, Big Beard’s expression altered. He stared at the young monk for a long while, his face suddenly went pale as he exclaimed in shock, “Are you Yunla?”
People around gasped at this name, staring at the young monk in disbelief.
Sighing, the young monk stood up, shook his head, murmuring, “The Buddhist realm is complex, and it’d be regrettable not to understand it. Brother, if you see Yang Zhen, could you relay a message for me?”
“Wh…what message?” Big Beard looked at the young monk, utterly confused, clearly unable to comprehend what the young monk had just said.
Without further explanation, the monk said, “Yang Zhen has a connection with Buddhism. This humble monk will be waiting for him in the Western Region.”
Upon hearing this, everyone was taken aback. They were inexplicably flabbergasted.
Was Yang Zhen destined for Buddhism? Was he going to become a monk?
Puzzled and speechless, they looked for the young monk, but there was no sign of him where he had just been sitting.
In mid-air, the young monk laughingly murmured to himself, “Big Beard and Yang Zhen shared quite a karmic connection, interesting, really interesting. It seems this trip to Northern Island won’t be dull after all.”
