Chapter 5: 1095 Days
There was no way that they were going to let this chance slip by.
With the morning sun greeting Lilith she checked the performance of her novel.
A slight soreness was pervasive as she did.
Enhanced stamina recovery would only support her, not resolve insufficiencies in her training routine.
Soon here, she would see about getting a instructor.
At this thought, she clicked her tongue, at the thought of James.
Shaking her head, she resumed looking at the novel dashboard.
The novel unsurprisingly, did not perform that great.
A hundred viewers, no comments, and with that zero reviews.
This was solid, not terrible.
She was not well-known or established as an author.
It would take time.
There was absolutely no rush for her to achieve results.
She would give her best effort.
After watching a few shorts online, she settled into the mindspace to write.
She ended up writing two chapters.
Afterward, she readied herself to go to the gym.
8 am-12 am were dedicated to writing, then 12-5 pm were for working out.
This worked for the time being.
4 hours writing, 12-5 pm yeah, certainly it was decent.
Then, from around 5:30ish, which would be when she got back she would eat and relax before anything supplementary to these objectives.
Say, using a selection option, running an errand, till about 7. Then, she could review chapters and post a chapter of the novel.
It was good to set a clear path.
While plans could easily change, a routine was healthy.
It made things clearer, as to how she could proceed.
Time-management which would otherwise be a pain would be clearly laid out in time-blocks.
She was 3/4ths of the way to level 4, by the end of the gym session.
No tasks had appeared.
Slightly anticipating the next day, with the forthcoming level 4, the rest of the day passed with the posting of chapter 2.
She noticed that with her improved eyesight, she no longer sought to get extra close to the computer screen, reading was a breeze.
Contrary to the ease to her life the vision brought towards reading, when looking at herself, it revealed more insecurities.
She could only let out an exasperated sigh.
Lilith awoke the next day to a task.
[ Task #4: Reach Lvl 5 ]
This was a task she could get behind.
Her newly formed routine contributed to progressing towards the completion of the task.
The daily gym session earned her a level up.
With that level up came the increase to her appearance.
She observed that a wart that she had on her left cheek vanished.
Her hair now was completely free of grey hairs as well, not just the few in her bangs.
Dealing with early grey hairs was one of her worries, but did not stack up well against her other concerns.
Good gains overall, this level Lilith noted.
She was curious as to how the appearance stat was for the baseline.
Was it around 10?
5 may be more likely.
Is the standard for humans?
Or...
No. It just may be more scientific for the panel, not confirming other species.
She stopped herself.
Still, a small goal of 5 appearance was something to aim for.
A new goal to chase after, in pursuit of becoming a novelist of some success.
She plopped down on the couch.
A bit of dust she noticed fly through the cracks of the couch's cushion.
Her nose crinkled.
Begrudgingly, she stood back up and cleaned it up.
While she was at it, she cleaned up the spots she had missed prior to having improved her vision.
She smirked, commenting to herself upon finishing: "This was beauty."
Ragged breaths escaped her.
But the appreciation of the outcome remained despite her grown fatigue.
Pushing herself up by the arms of the couch, she got off of her knees.
Soon having the comforting embrace of the couch, she used the latest choice she now had.
...
[ 1. Healthy Nails ] | [ 2. Rally Card ] | [3. Iron Sword ]
...
Seeing the options, she could only remark: "What are these choices? Nails? A card? Or a sword?"
Of these, the nails option was by far the worst.
While the card sounded like a consumable, and the iron sword would remain useful for longer.
But, when would she use a sword?
It would be great if the details of the options could be inspected, instead of only after getting things.
Hesitantly, she decided to go with the rally card.
Crumbling into motes of light, the screen vanished.
In her hand appeared a ornate brown card.
With it in her possession now, she tried to see if she could get a description.
With intense focus, a screen, with an explanation appeared.
[ Rally Card: Consumption of card initiates a 1 hour period, in which popularity is heightened by several-fold. ]
Lilith had to read the effect of the card a few times.
So it was a consumable, and it sounded as if it made her more popular?
This popularity, she assumed it would be effective for advertising the novel and getting more eyes on it.
Wagging the card a few times which was more durable than it looked, she decided to store it for later use.
There was no community to multiply.
Having decided that, the remainder of the day proceeded without any notable obstacles.
With the task of reaching level 5, she assumed no surprises till then.
But... she did get a notification that surprised her.
[ Ding! A Dungeon Will Descend In 1095 Days ]
A dungeon? This was a normal world.
Shock settled in quickly.
It was not an isekai.
What did this mean?
It sounded like a disaster, at minimum.
The loss of life...
This dungeon could reasonably assumed to be a destructive event.
Alongside fear, there was possibility.
This world she was going to be growing in was not going to be so easy to "gear up" in.
Enthused but concerned all the same, she wrote dungeon onto a calendar app.
She, to be safe, had to get a bit more serious.
