Chapter 1: Chapter 1: opening day
A young man was sweeping out infront of a building, a building that looked strange but could still be called normal in some sense. The sign which was red with black letters read 'Infinity Hotel' with a glowing cat sitting next to it. Next to the young man was a black cat which had a pink sushi color around its neck and was resting while the man swept away.
"What a nice day, right Luna?" said the young man towards his cat who looked at with dull eyes that said 'Why are you bothering me?'. The man chuckled at her look as he put his broom away and walked inside the building, the building that belonged to him. 'Never would I have thought I would have gotten a hotel in my next life' thought the young man as he read the nameplate on a desk which read 'Luke Heidwall', his name.
"Well, lets get this nice and tidy" said Luke as he began to wipe everything down that he could, removing dust from the rafters and the various frames that hung on the wall, depicting stuff from videogames he played in his past life. It seems as if the world was generous, giving him the ability to mold the place as he wished with his mind.
He felt freaked out at first but soon enough adapted to it, growing in excitement of being like a superhero with meta abilities. As he was done cleaning everything, something he did by hand as he felt it built character, everything seemed ready for the first customer. The rooms were pretty standard, and could be customized depending on payment, atleast that was the way he planned it.
"Luna!" I shouted as the cat came through the cat flap installed in the door. Her sleek and shiny coat was eye candy, and she layed on the desk before the front door, beside the computer I had to register our occupants. As I sat behind the desk, reading a book to pass the time, the sound of a door being opened and a bell rung caught my attention as I looked up.
What immediately struck me was the fact they were dressed in robes that indicated they were from the far east, most likely china from the looks of it. One of them was dressed in crimson shirt with beige looking pants and the other in a pristine white robe that looked similar to Chinese funeral attire. The other thing that struck me was their aura, it was fierce some.
"Hi, welcome to infinity Hotel, how many I help you?" I asked them as they looked at the place like it was an anomaly. "It feels different, more dense" said the one in white to the one in red. "I know" he said as he seemingly drew a saber from nowhere. The tip of its blade was now at his throat. 'Am I gonna die, right here?' thought Luke, thinking of his former life.
However, within the depths of his mind he regained his fortitude and called upon the authority he had within this place, and the weapon vanished back to the guys side, and the aura they emitted was now tamed and tempered. "What!" shouted the one in red as he felt all over.
"I'm sorry for that, my companion is very overprotective of me" said the man in white while Luke seemingly squinted at him. However, he gave up looking for any sings of deceit. "Anyhow, what's your name and what room would you like?" he asked them as they introduced themselves.
"Okay, the couples sweet for one Xie Lian and Hua Cheng, is that right?" asked Luke as Xie Lian nodded as he handed them the room keys and they took their luggage upstairs to the second floor of the building. 'What strange customers' he thought as Luna woke up and began exploring the place on her own, with the hotel making room for her.
'What a cute cat' he thought as he began reading some more. As he got engrossed in the plot of the novel, a new group came into the hotel, and they were more strange guests he didn't expect to deal with. A guy with spikey black hair, green cloak, and a shield attached to his arm. His companions were also odd.
One had raccoon ears and tale, and the other was a blond girl with blue eyes and angel wings sprouting from her back. 'What is with my clientele?' he thought as he welcomed them into the hotel. "Hi, are you guys here for a convention?" he asked them as the girls looked confused but the guy looked shocked.
"You okay sir?" he asked him as the girls were uttering things like "Whats a convention?""Is master okay?". "Yeah I'm fine, my names Naofumi Iwatani, and these are Raphtalia and Filo" said Naofumi as I looked at them and jotted down their names. "Are you from Kyoto by any chance?" asked Luke towards Naofumi. Naofumi looked shocked again and said "Kyoto? I thought we were in Melromarc".
"Melromarc? is it a new country?" he asked Naofumi as he looked frozen. "Sir, we are in Kyoto, Japan" he told him as Naofumi ran for the door and opened it. What greeted Luke's eyes was a city that was unlike his own home town. Gone was the buildings and Kyoto tower, and then came medieval buildings of stone bricks.
Luke then approached the door as he reopened it towards Kyoto, and the familiar tower was in view. "Another world? is it possible?" Luke asked himself as the facts didn't seem to align against that notion. It festered in his mind, and in order to solve it, he would ask the visitors. He asked them question after question, and only then did he believe his hotel was connected to another world, possibly multiple as the group before them was also strange and eery.
"So, otherworlders? How many rooms would you like?" asked Luke with an expression that basically said 'over it'. "One room and two beds please, and can there be common ammenities?" asked Naofumi. "Of course, and meals do cost extra so remember that of course" said Luke as Naofumi passed him gold coins.
As they went upstairs, Luka went to the computer to complete the payment as the gold coins disappeared before his eyes and the money count on his account went up by a couple thousand. 'Thank you fantasy world!' he shouted in his mind as he was seemingly celebrating.
A few hours passed and it was time for dinner. Luke went into the kitchen to begin cooking as he doesn't have a chef yet to do the cooking. Another boon it seems from his reincarnation, which was seemingly outlined on a document saved to the mysterious computer, was god tier cooking skills.
As the guest trickle down into the kitchen, a heavenly aroma could be smelled in the air and the guest instinctively drooled themselves. "Man, what good food" said Xie Lian as he sat at a table with Hua Cheng. He noticed others as well and waved them over while Hua Cheng was maintaining a stoic facade.
"I know right?" said Raphtalia as her raccoon tale was wagging vigorously. 'It seems the meal excites her' Thought Naofumi as he took was seemingly enticed by the smell of the food and wanted to taste it. Filo was also very impatient as well, considering the fact that she was visibly vibrating in her seat as wind seemingly picked up around her.
"So, what's your name miss?" asked Xie Lian. "Raphtalia, companion to my master Naofumi" she said as she introduced herself. "Master? So your a slave?" asked Xie Lian as he looked at the apparent master, a shrewd look on his face. Naofumi could feel the disdain for that fact facing him. "It was her choice to have the seal reapplied" muttered Naofumi and Xie Lians expression softened.
"You sound truthful. Oh where is my manners! I am Xie Lian, martial god" said Xie Lian introducing himself while Naofumi was full of shock. 'A martial god, a god!' thought Naofumi as he now seemed wary about Xie Lian. Hua Cheng seemed to take pleasure in this fact while he was forced to introduced himself.
"So, what are your guys world like?" asked Naofumi as Xie Lian sounded confused. "My world?" said Xie Lian right as Luke came around to serve them food and drink. "Let me explain, it seems that this hotel connects to multiple realities and such, so he is from a different world than yours" said Luke while he had some trepidation talking to him as he overheard him calling himself a god, and he couldn't call it a lie as his presence seemed divine.
"Thank you for the meal sir" said Xie Lian as he handed Luke some coins for the meal, using some gold given to him by Hua Cheng. "Thank you sir" said Luke as he took the cash and put it into the computer, converting it into points for a shop tab. He had the points needed to purchase something from the shop now. He decided to wait for that, wanting to listen to the stories of his customers.
He sat down near them, asking questions about their worlds. What he heard was something fascinating. 'Three worlds, sounds like something from fantasy. Naofumis world sounds like something my sister would have read' thought Luke as he got up and went to the desk to view the computer. He decided to study what the computer said about the place, his own Infinity Hotel.
[A/N: Another new work, feels like this is gonna be a thing. Anyhow, this was inspired by a comment I read while reading Nascent Kaleidescope which was written by AStoryForOne. It was an idea in my head I had to get out. Also some explanation, the computer is taking the place of the system so there wont be statistic values but will have stuff like skills you can buy and such. Theres also the passives being the owner of the hotel gives him besides future skills. Anyhow, enjoy!]
