When the match was about to end, everyone was only able to see the rabbit woman completely exhausted. They didn’t see them moving or fighting at all. The audience felt like they just missed something crazy, but it was useless to think about it.
While breathing roughly, the woman kept glaring at Rain… he wondered if he wronged her ancestors or something. Otherwise, her anger was completely unjustified.
Rain decided to finish that off already since he had used a bit too much mana when he didn’t know what was going to happen next.
Just when Rain decided that, the woman realized that she couldn’t defeat Rain. He still had a lot of mana and stamina to use… and although that was a match to death, she felt like losing was something that she couldn’t accept it.
The rabbit woman suddenly pulled out the pendant from her neck and then threw it in the distance… while Rain was looking at it fall toward the audience, he caught in the corner of his vision the woman suddenly grabbing a knife from one of her pockets and then slicing her throat. She was almost pulled off… Rain grabbed both of her arms and raised his eyebrow.
"You can keep your stupid pendant," Rain said. "Just don’t do anything that will cause problems to me."
In the next moment, Rain broke the wrists of the woman since he let the blood rush to his head for a moment and then he headbutted the woman and then her eyes rolled before turning white. Letting his second visit end in a death would only make things difficult for Rain in the future, so he had to stop things there.
The best solution that he found was to drop from the ring and land outside at the same time as the woman.
"This is a draw, right?" Rain asked.
"I suppose… you could have still got the pendant if you had killed her," Isa said.
"Isn’t she one of the strongest warriors here? You guys will need her," Rain said. "Besides, I am not here to take anything from anyone. Also, I want to go home already, this should be enough for your goal, right?"
"Indeed, it should be," Isa said and then raised her eyebrow when Rain tossed the woman to the side while she still was unconscious.
"I thought that you had second intentions when you spared her since your aura changed a bit when you saw her, but it seems that my guess was wrong," Isa said. "Let ’s get going."
After those events, Rain, Isa, and Van exited the underground arena. The trio walked out of the arena in complete silence, their footsteps echoing in the space. The atmosphere was heavy, with an unexpected end that none of them had anticipated.
The audience, too, remained unusually quiet, their previous excitement and enthusiasm replaced by a sense of bewilderment and uncertainty. The turn of events had left everyone in the arena somewhat perplexed, as they had not anticipated the duels ending so swiftly and without the usual dramatic flair.
"We need to leave fast, it is better that the guards don’t find us here when they arrive," Isa said.
"Why? Sneakily leaving would only cause problems, right?" Rain frowned. "How am I going to return like this?"
"It is better that you don’t return until the people here understand the severity of the situation," Isa said and then began to levitate alongside Rain and Van. "I can still keep contact you now and then, so you won’t have to come here all the time. That will also work to keep the people here in the dark."
As Rain walked away from the underground arena, his thoughts turned to the idea of maintaining contact with Isa. He couldn’t help but be curious about the possibilities. The use of magic holograms by the demi-humans had been a revelation, and it made him wonder if Isa had access to a similar form of communication.
The concept of magic holograms as a means of long-distance communication was something that intrigued Rain greatly. It was an idea that he filed away in the back of his mind for future exploration.
Despite the knowledge and insights Isa had shared, there was still an air of mystery surrounding her. Rain couldn’t shake the feeling that she had her own motives and reasons for keeping him at arm’s length. While her explanation of their society made sense, it was still peculiar to him. He couldn’t help but wonder if there were deeper layers to her actions that he had yet to uncover.
Since they had fewer people with them, they were able to reach Isa’s house two times faster than before. She told them to wait outside while she looked for something in her house.
"Granny likes you quite a lot… she barely interacts with others and she is going out of her way to help you," Van said.
"Maybe she asks younger guys who are muscular, a lot of women do," Rain shrugged.
"... You just defeated the third strongest person in our territory, Luna, the fast," Van said. "How many dragons have you faced and do you think that we could have done the same?"
"I don’t know, fights wars aren’t usually dick measuring contests," Rain said. "I know that you guys can produce magic relics and that you can draw magic circles as well and you have some special abilities, but I don’t know the full extent of the dragon’s power. I don’t think that I have fought one thousand years old dragons yet, so I can’t even begin to imagine their overall strength.
The only thing that I can say for sure that you can’t win if you only play defensively."
As Rain contemplated the situation and shared his thoughts with Van, the latter could only nod in agreement. The victory they had achieved against the dragons during their previous encounter had been a hard-fought one, but the circumstances had been significantly different.
