Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 673: Meteor dragon daggers

After Rain’s quick victory over Dravik, a heavy silence hung in the arena. It was as though the crowd was trying to process what had just occurred. However, as the moments passed, a wave of discontent started to spread among the onlookers. Whispers and mutterings began to fill the air, and soon, scattered boos and jeers emerged from various corners of the arena.

The crowd’s reactions were mixed. Some believed Rain had cheated, while others were simply unwilling to accept the outcome. The idea that a human could best one of their own in combat seemed unfathomable to many, especially considering the wagers involved.

Rain stood tall in the center of the arena, unfazed by the jeers and whispers, understanding that winning had come at a price beyond the amulets wagered.

"Are you not entertained?" Rain asked. "I guess they wouldn’t be when their fighter loses so fast. Maybe I should try a bit harder to make things more interesting…"

While Rain was thinking of what he should do, the next fighter arrived… they didn’t want to give Rain time to think and the opponents would learn little by little what he could do, after all.

"At least I am earning something out of this… Terra and Seara aren’t the type who likes jewelry that much, but they will like these amulets," Rain thought. "This should be enough to compensate for my delay."

"I am Froan, son of Hans and Elfona, coming from the noble lineage of the men of the forest." The warrior looked directly at Rain and declared, "I challenge you to a duel, Rain, to prove my honor and valor. I wager my daggers that have been made with the scales of a meteor dragon . Let our strength and skill be the judge." Experience more tales on NovelBin.Côm

Rain said all that shit once more while he looked at the daggers of the opponent. The guy was a demi human with beast people blood and he was pretty thin and a bit short, but Rain was more interested in the daggers that he had.

The blades of these daggers were formed from the gleaming, metallic scales of the meteor dragon. The scales had a deep, iridescent hue that shifted between shades of dark cobalt blue and orange red. They appeared almost liquid in their reflective properties, giving the blades an otherworldly, almost cosmic quality.

The hilts of the daggers were designed for both functionality and aesthetics. They were crafted from a combination of precious metals and rare woods. The hilt was adorned with intricate engravings and patterns that resembled constellations, adding to the celestial theme of the daggers.

In the end, Rain said the same thing, the fight would end once one of them falls from the ring and the second adversary said that water magic was forbidden. Rain decided to end things there once more… The guy sure was naive to think that Rain could only use water magic.

Once they assumed their positions, the adversary immediately run to the side while fire spears appeared around him and they began to follow him as well… their numbers greatly increased as he kept running around the arena. Before long, the temperature in the place began to increase as the guy had thirty or so fire spears following him.

"I guess things like talent are meaningless before hard work," Rain thought. "Saying that the beast people are bad at magic isn’t accurate at all."

Before long, the adversary made those spears surround Rain and then bombarded him when no opening was left behind for him to escape. The adversary quickly launched a barrage of these fire projectiles toward Rain.

Each time a fire spear hit the target, there was a loud boom, and the ground shook beneath the force of the explosions. The fiery spears left behind scorch marks on the arena’s stone surface.

The place was taken over by smoke, but that eventually dissipated, and then everyone saw Rain surrounded by a thick layer of earth that protected his body.

Before long, the earth wall moved and flew to hit the adversary, but he dashed away from it and tried to outspeed the wall, but that was useless. Without any other choice, the adversary destroyed the wall with a massive fire spear that even made several cracks appear on the arena, but thanks to that, he was left with a tired expression on his face… he had used too much mana.

The adversary held his daggers tightly since he was forced to go for the melee now, but as soon as he took a deep breath, Rain suddenly appeared in front of him and hit his stomach with a knee attack… when his body was raised from the ground, Rain punched his face and made him fly for five meters before he fell on the ground.

"Thank you for your generous donation," Rain said when he approached the unconscious adversary and then took the daggers from him. "I wonder if they will let me fight here again? This is quite the profitable way to get magic relics."

Rain could immediately recognize that these daggers were on a whole different level. Lotto’s creations were nothing short of remarkable, but the demi-human’s work displayed a depth of knowledge and expertise that could only be honed over thousands of years.

The daggers were more than just weapons; they were genuine relics. The intricate runes etched onto the blades, the enchantments woven into the scales, and the overall design all pointed to a level of craftsmanship that transcended anything Rain had encountered before. It was a testament to the demi-human’s profound understanding of magic item creation and their mastery of ancient techniques.

They represented a connection to a world of magic and craftsmanship that went far beyond his own understanding. The encounter served as a reminder of how much there was still to learn and discover in that world.

"Maybe this is a sign that I should try to improve and use more the blacksmith skill that I have," Rain thought.
