Chapter 584: Investigation
Rain had been keeping a close eye on the dungeon situation, and he had estimated that it would take about two more months before they broke open. He had planned to check out the southern ocean in one month to gather information and prepare for it.
However, things took a worrying turn. Reports started coming in about more elemental monsters appearing on the first few dungeon floors. This was unexpected and concerning because they were stronger. It meant that the threat was escalating faster than Rain had anticipated…
This new development required immediate attention. Rain had to adjust his plans and take action sooner than he had initially thought.
"The number of monsters didn't increase, but the difficulty increased… the mana levels of the dungeon should be reaching their breaking point soon," Rain said after he talked with his wives about that.
"We don't know their length on the fifth floor, so the dungeons might have increased their length while we were busy," Terra said.
"We have to send the recruits to those areas as well to complete an encirclement around the dungeons to avoid casualties," Seara nodded. "In the meantime, you should go and investigate the enemy's territory. I would feel better if you had some support… while the seals proved themselves to be very useful, it isn't perfect."
"We don't have that much free hands, so it can't be helped," Rain shrugged. "Besides, if something happens and I have to run for my life, someone else will only slow me down since no one around can keep up with me."
"You can stop bragging now," Terra said. "Do you think that Seadrei can lend him his spear for a week?" At least half of the reason why they Managed to escape unscathed was thanks to the spear, right?"
"No way, trust my skills," Rain said. "It is all thanks to my skills and big brain."
"You have a point, maybe if I ask Dad, he will lend us," Seara rubbed her chin thoughtfully.
"That is useless, I don't want to use something borrowed," Rain said and then looked at the shield. "I guess I will have to use that."
Rain decided to put the mysterious shield to the test over the last few weeks, and the results were nothing short of troubling. The shield proved to be an excellent defense against water-based attacks, with Rain barely feeling the impact of any such attacks. It was like having an impenetrable barrier against them.
Not only that, but the shield significantly boosted Rain's water magic. It made his water spells twice as potent if compared to the spear, adding a whole new dimension to his magical abilities. The shield was also incredibly tough. Rain tried his best to damage it with powerful punches, but it remained unscathed. Its durability was beyond anything he had encountered before.
However, there was a catch. After using the shield for about five seconds, Rain could feel it trying to influence him in some way. This presented a challenge for Rain, as he had to be cautious about using the shield for extended periods.
"The stock of potions is more than enough if something happens and we have to fight," Terra said while they checked their warehouse with hundreds of potions stored in it. "Not like I care about money that much and more keeps coming in thanks to your strange business sense, but why do you keep investing so much in potions?"
"Buying potions is the same as buying experience with money, so we can get stronger, buy power with money," Rain explained while he was packing some potions. "We all have trained enough, but if something happens, try to fight defensively and gather Intel."
"Yes, yes, you already told us that dozens of times," Terra said.
"Don't do anything reckless out there, you will be the one most in danger," Seara said. "I won't forgive you if you let something happen and force us to raise the kids alone."
"Yes maa, if something happens, I will at least do my best to haunt you two," Rain laughed as he put his backpack on his back. "Where are Danny and Annie?"
"They are training in the back…" Terra said.
"I suppose they still want to keep that as a secret… I guess I will call them to alert them," Rain said. "Where is my goodbye kiss from my beloved wives?"
"Not in the middle of the day," Terra said and then turned to the side.
"I think I just heard Sealyn waking up, I am going to check on her," Seara said and then left.
It seemed that showing his kissing face backfired. In the end, Rain just shrugged and then called his kids. They came in a hurry, covered in sweat… their human path already reached level ninety, so they had been training hard. Rain thought that he should teach them some water magic to make them clean themselves with more ease.
"Papa is going to work away for a few days, so behave, okay?" Rain said while patting both of them. "When I come back, I will teach you two something cool."
It was rare for Rain to leave like that, so both of them understood that the mission was important. In the end, they nodded, and they hugged Rain when he kneeled in front of them. Annie had become more docile since Sealyn was born, while Danny got a bit more serious since he was the eldest. Seeing his kids growing up like that only made Rain feel even more eager to return as fast as possible. Find adventures at empire
As soon as the sun set, Rain left his home using his underground tunnels, and then when he reached the ocean, he began to fly as fast as possible while using just enough mana that he could recover. At that point in time, his ice chamber could already break each one, but he wasn't satisfied with that since it was falling apart thanks to the friction.
