Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix

Chapter 1013: Combination

When Nigel died, or maybe when his spirit was sent to the relics, Rain saw things getting dark again and then he saw things getting clear once more. Before long, Rain saw himself running amidst some ruins once more close to the sea… on the corner of his field of vision, he was able to see a pair of gloves.

"It is Larisa this time, huh?" Rain thought. "Anyway, is he planning to make me experience all the deaths of the relics to make me feel more sympathetic toward their cause?"

If Nigel was unable to fight that monster, it was hard to imagine that Larisa would be able to pull it off when her relic was supposed to be weaker… Regardless, soon enough, Rain was able to find the massive humanoid creature in the distance. The monster had evolved a fair bit since the last time Rain saw it.

The humanoid giant monster now bore dragon scales on the external parts of its arms and legs, its once-humanoid form now adorned with the resilient armor of a dragon. A long, sinuous tail emerged from its back, swaying menacingly as it added an extra layer of danger to the creature. The eerie fusion of dragon and humanoid characteristics intensified the already daunting threat that Larisa faced.

Undeterred, Larisa, with determination, charged toward the monster. Her dual gauntlets gleamed in the dim light as she closed the distance with astonishing speed. Without hesitation, she leapt into the air, soaring towards the creature with a powerful punch aimed at its face.

The impact was insane. The monster staggered, caught off guard by the force of Larisa's blow. It took several steps backward, struggling to regain its balance after the unexpected assault.

As Larisa landed gracefully on the ground, a victorious glint in her eyes, she observed the monster with a sense of accomplishment. A trickle of blood escaped the corner of the creature's mouth, evidence of the damage inflicted by Larisa's powerful strike.

However, despite the visible signs of the battle taking a toll on the monster, it became apparent that Larisa's efforts hadn't fully turned the tide. The creature, though wounded, remained a formidable steady and focused on her, its malevolent gaze fixed firmly on Larisa.

"Why is my fist burning and cooling down at the same time?" Rain thought.

Before Rain could find the reason for that, Larisa began to sidestep while she approached the giant beast… the monster tried to kick her time and time again, but she always dodged the attacks… only by a skin of her teeth.

The blast of wind caused by the kics were strong enough to destroy countless piles of rubble in hundreds of meters, so Larissa hesitated in counterattacking… a single mistake and she would be done for, after all.

After zigzagging for a while, Larisa decided to jump again and attack the nape of the giant monster. When the creature missed another kick, she jumped in to the side and then turned around to jump in toward the target… However, while using the blind spot of the monster, she was stopped by the elbow of the monster…

Even without seeing Larisa, the beast swung it's body and hit her. She charged with all her might and added the power of the spin of the monster… Larisa's whole body cracked. Rain felt the mind numbing pain of the attack and then he felt the pain of the fall and of rolling on the ground for hundreds of meters.

Much to his surprise, Larisa got up even while he felt like his bones were still cracking. He felt that refreshing sensation again and after he focused his senses, Rain realized that Larisa was healing himself pretty fast…

"Did she have a sub skill as well?" Rain thought. "Anyway, for her to have this level of regeneration at that time… maybe that codename thing actually works…"

Larisa's healing powers were deeply connected to the Greek goddess Demeter, the ancient deity associated with agriculture, fertility, and the harvest. Within Larisa flowed the essence of Demeter's influence, and this connection bestowed upon her the ability to mend wounds and accelerate the regeneration.

In the realm of Greek mythology, Demeter was revered as the goddess of the harvest, responsible for the growth of crops and the fertility of the earth. Her nurturing and life-giving attributes made her a symbol of abundance and renewal. As a healing goddess, Demeter was often invoked to bring about the restoration of life and vitality to the land.

Larisa's healing powers were a manifestation of those domains. Her ability to mend injuries, restore vitality, and accelerate recovery drew from the essence of Demeter's influence. In moments of need, Larisa could channel this divine energy to promote healing, and even use earth magic a bit better.

In any case, despite the pain, Larisa started to get confident in her survivability, to the point that she used her earth magic to harden her fists attack the monster even more… it reached a point where they traded blows. Still, in the end, Larisa always left with a broken harm of a broken wrist in the best case scenario…

Larisa stopped attacking for a moment a cooled her head to think of a better strategy, but that had been a mistake… even if she couldn't win the exchanges yet, giving room for the monster had been a terrible mistake.

In the next moment, the giant monster roared in anger to the sky and the atmosphere changed. Larisa raised her guard knowing that something bad was about to happen… before long, she saw the aura of the beast changing and affecting its surroundings. Not only that, the beast's skin began to turn red and its muscles began to bulge.

"This fucker is actually using Limit Breaker and Magic Boost?" Rain thought in shock.

That wasn't all… soon enough, the beast began to change again, its rage began to affect the effects of both techniques and mixed them together… it was the Dragon's Rage.
