In the Type-Moon World, I Have the Holy Evil Simulator

Chapter 7: Chapter 7: The Tiger’s Shadow

Takeda Castle – Year 4 of Tenbun (1535 AD)

Winter had passed.

The winds of Kai Province carried the first scent of spring as the cherry blossoms began to bloom.

Inside the castle, a silver-haired child sat cross-legged, his small frame unmoving.

Before him, a bamboo sword lay untouched.

The young samurai surrounding him whispered in hushed voices.

"That's the demon child?"

"His hair… his eyes… he doesn't look human."

"Lord Harunobu truly intends to keep him?"

No one dared to speak too loudly.

Because the one standing before them—

Was Takeda Harunobu himself.

The future Tiger of Kai.

And today—

He would be testing Yuki for the first time.

"Pick up the sword."

Harunobu's voice was calm but firm.

Yuki did not move.

"If you cannot fight, you are useless."

Still, Yuki remained motionless.

The other young warriors snickered.

"Look at him. He's nothing but a blind rat."

"He probably doesn't even know how to hold a sword."

Harunobu's expression did not change.

"If you refuse to fight, then I will kill you."

Finally—

Yuki lifted his head.

His crimson eyes, empty yet piercing, met Harunobu's unwavering gaze.

And then, at last—

He picked up the bamboo sword.

The air grew tense.

The warriors watched closely.

The silver-haired child held the weapon with both hands—

And swung.

It was a terrible swing.

Weak. Sloppy. Unrefined.

The warriors laughed.

"Pitiful."

"This demon child isn't worth raising."

But Harunobu remained silent.

And then—

Yuki swung again.

And again.

And again.

A hundred times.

A thousand times.

Never stopping. Never resting.

By the time the sun began to set, Yuki's hands were raw and bleeding.

His arms trembled.

Yet his expression never changed.

The warriors were no longer laughing.

Harunobu watched him closely—

And for the first time, he smiled.

"Good."

"You are learning."

That night, Yuki lay beneath the open sky, his body aching.

The cold wind bit at his wounds, but he felt no pain.

Because for the first time since he was born—

He had a purpose.

A path forward.

The Tiger of Kai had accepted him.

And from this moment on—

He would follow in his shadow.
