Chapter 11 - The Figure on the Altar!
Chapter 11: The Figure on the Altar!
Inside the Heavenly Pit.
“Search everywhere!”
“Dig up the entire area if you must, but find that altar!”
Restored to his youthful prime, Ying Zheng exuded an imperial aura that was impossible to ignore. His voice thundered as he commanded Wang Ben, Han Zhang, Zhao Gao, and the assembled Qin soldiers.
The Heavenly Essence Pill had not only extended his life by a decade but also rekindled the ambition that had long been dormant. Ying Zheng was convinced that the thunderbolt that had led him to this pit was an act of divine will.
The inscription on the stele, referencing the Creation Immortal Codex, was a clear sign from the heavens. To Ying Zheng, this codex represented his best chance at attaining immortality. With such stakes, there was no room for hesitation.
“Yes, Your Majesty!!!”
Wang Ben, Han Zhang, and Zhao Gao responded in unison, their voices firm.
Despite their earlier fruitless search, the successful discovery of the Heavenly Essence Pill renewed their resolve. They were now certain that the Creation Immortal Codex was real.
Their mission: locate the altar and face the second trial, whatever it might be.
“Since that’s the case, it’s time to commence the second trial,” Bai Chen mused, hovering invisibly above the scene. A slight smirk tugged at his lips as he observed the unfolding drama.
Initially, Bai Chen had no plans for a second trial, as his limited Creation Energy couldn’t cover the costs. The promises on the stele were nothing more than a narrative seed he had planted.
The Creation Immortal Codex itself didn’t even exist. Bai Chen’s true goal was to introduce the idea of Immortal Dao cultivation to the Qin Empire.
However, Ying Zheng’s transformation provided Bai Chen with an unprecedented influx of Creation Energy—10,000 points. This new wealth made it feasible to create the foundational elements of the Creation Immortal Codex.
With such resources, Bai Chen no longer hesitated. Granting Ying Zheng access to the first Immortal Dao cultivation method was a calculated move. As the ruler of Qin, Ying Zheng’s participation in Immortal cultivation would ripple across the empire, driving societal transformation and generating an endless stream of Creation Energy.
“System,” Bai Chen commanded. “Begin the second trial as I envisioned.”
Host’s request will cost 9,000 points of Creation Energy, the system replied promptly. Do you confirm?
“Confirm!” Bai Chen answered without hesitation, though a flicker of regret passed through his mind.
Investing so much energy was painful, but Ying Zheng was worth the cost.
9,000 points of Creation Energy have been deducted, the system confirmed before falling silent.
Within the pit, no immediate change was apparent, yet Bai Chen knew the alterations had already begun. Such was the system’s power—a force beyond the natural laws of the world.
Back in the Pit
Ying Zheng stood before the shattered stele, anticipation gleaming in his eyes. Around him were Wang Ben, Han Zhang, Zhao Gao, and over a hundred Qin soldiers—all armed and alert.
These elite troops, each at least at the Xiantian (先天) level, scoured every corner of the pit for clues.
“Your Majesty!”
“Your Majesty!”
After hours of searching, Wang Ben, Han Zhang, and Zhao Gao returned empty-handed.
Despite their efforts, no signs of the altar were found.
“How can this be?” Ying Zheng frowned, his thoughts racing.
He was utterly convinced that the altar mentioned on the stele existed within the pit. But every corner had been searched—why can’t we locate it?
“Your Majesty,” Li Si stepped forward, bowing respectfully. Though primarily a scholar, Li Si had reached the initial level of the Zhi Xuan Grandmaster.
[Li Si (李斯, Lǐ Sī): A historical figure, Li Si was a prominent scholar and politician during Ying Zheng’s reign. His appearance here as a cultivator is fictionalized.].
[Zhi Xuan Grandmaster (指玄宗师, Zhǐ Xuán Zōng Shī): A martial cultivation realm higher than Xiantian, known for profound understanding of energy and technique.].
“Speak,” Ying Zheng commanded, his faith in Li Si’s intellect evident.
“Your Majesty obtained the Heavenly Essence Pill because of the stele,” Li Si began. “Could it be that the altar is also connected to the stele?”
Ying Zheng’s eyes lit up.
“The stele!”
The pill had been embedded within the stele itself. It made perfect sense that the altar’s location might be similarly hidden.
“Han Zhang, destroy the stele completely!” Ying Zheng ordered decisively.
“Yes, Your Majesty!”
Without hesitation, Han Zhang channelled his qi into a devastating strike.
Boom!
The remnants of the stele exploded into fragments.
Suddenly, the ground trembled violently. A terrifying energy erupted from beneath, sending several Qin soldiers flying.
Before their stunned eyes, a massive altar began to rise from the earth.
“What’s happening?”
“It’s real!”
“What is this?”
Gasps of astonishment rippled through the soldiers as the altar emerged, its grandeur silencing the crowd.
Even Ying Zheng, Wang Ben, Han Zhang, and Zhao Gao, who had anticipated such a discovery, were left speechless.
“Is that… the Scarlet Sun Immortal?”
Ying Zheng’s gaze locked onto the altar.
At its center sat a figure clad in gray robes, unmoving and devoid of any aura.
Though lifeless, the figure radiated an inexplicable sense of majesty and mystery, capturing the attention of all who beheld it.
