"Overthrow the current system of the Underworld? Akira, are you... planning to raise a rebellion?" Sigurd's voice was laced with concern, her crimson eyes narrowing as she studied him.
Akira shook his head calmly, his silver hair catching the dim light of the room. "Sigurd, overthrowing the system and raising a rebellion are two different things. What I aim for is reform from within. A gradual change, not a violent upheaval."
He stepped closer, his gaze unwavering. "That's why I need your strength, Sigurd. I want you to become the head of the House of Agares. Not as a puppet ruler, bound by tradition, but as a true leader with absolute authority over your family. With your support, the chances of success increase significantly."
Sigurd's eyes widened slightly, but she remained silent, allowing him to continue.
"If I can dismantle the current system and rise as a new Demon King, even our arranged marriage can be resolved. In a new era, the old rules of the Underworld will be cast aside like relics of the past."
With that, Akira pulled out an ancient parchment, its surface filled with detailed plans and strategies for reforming the Underworld. He handed it to Sigurd, who took it carefully, her fingers tracing the intricate writing.
As she read, her expression shifted from curiosity to awe. The parchment outlined a series of radical reforms:
Revising the Promotion System: Reducing the emphasis on pure bloodlines and increasing the weight of merit and contributions.
Investing in Scientific Research: Allocating resources to advance technology and innovation.
Inclusion of Hybrid and Reincarnated Demons: Allowing those with mixed heritage or sacred gear to rise to higher positions.
Establishing Educational Institutions: Creating schools to help even low-ranking demons unlock their potential.
Developing Specialized Curricula: Ensuring education reaches even the most remote corners of the Underworld.
Sigurd closed the parchment, her heart racing. "So this is your vision... Akira, you're not just challenging the system—you're aiming to rebuild it entirely."
She understood now. By empowering those overlooked by the current hierarchy, Akira would create a new class of leaders loyal to his cause. These individuals would help him dismantle the old order and usher in a new era for the Underworld.
But such changes would not come easily. The old guard, bound by centuries of tradition, would resist fiercely. Yet, Sigurd could see the potential in Akira's plan. It was a revolution not just of power, but of ideology.
"Akira," she said, placing a hand over her heart, "I will stand by you. Together, we will build a new future for the Underworld."
Akira smiled, pulling her into a gentle embrace. "Thank you, Sigurd. Your support means everything to me."
Sigurd rested her head against his chest, a soft smile playing on her lips. "You don't need to thank me, Akira. We're in this together."
Later, as they sat together, Akira brought up another topic. "Sigurd, I remember you have an interest in technology, don't you?"
She nodded, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "Yes, why do you ask?"
"Then let me give you a gift," Akira said, his tone playful yet sincere. "The Divine Dividing."
Sigurd's eyes widened in shock. "The Divine Dividing? But Akira, that's one of your most powerful sacred gears! I can't accept that."
Akira chuckled. "Don't worry, I'm not giving it away entirely. My sacred gear has evolved. I can share its power with those I've formed a deep connection with. As long as we don't exceed its limits, we can both wield it."
Sigurd's cheeks flushed slightly as she realized the implication of his words. "Akira, you're... incorrigible."
Despite her teasing, she couldn't hide her excitement. The idea of wielding such power was thrilling, and Akira's willingness to share it with her only deepened her admiration for him.
The next morning, after days of intense discussions and planning, Sigurd finally rose from bed, her energy renewed. She headed to the kitchen, determined to prepare a special breakfast for Akira.
When Akira entered the dining room, he was greeted by an extravagant spread. Sigurd gestured proudly to the dishes. "This is tiger tendon from an upper-class demon beast, ginseng soup made from thousand-year-old roots, and turtle soup brewed with rare herbs. Oh, and this is a salad made from enhanced maca root."
Akira raised an eyebrow, a wry smile forming on his lips. "Sigurd, are you trying to say I need... strengthening?"
Sigurd smirked, her tone playful. "Consider it a precaution, Akira. After all, we have a long journey ahead."
Though slightly embarrassed, Akira decided to play along. He ate heartily, knowing full well that his demonic heritage and sacred gear ensured his stamina was far beyond ordinary limits. Still, he appreciated her thoughtfulness.
After breakfast, Akira presented Sigurd with three small, ornate bottles. "These are Phoenix Tears," he explained. "They'll help restore your energy and enhance your abilities."
Sigurd tilted her head, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Phoenix Tears? Do they also... improve certain other aspects?"
Akira sighed, though his smile betrayed his amusement. "Sigurd, must you always steer the conversation in that direction?"
She laughed softly. "Well, it's your fault for making me this way, Akira."
He couldn't argue with that. Over the past few days, their bond had deepened, and Akira had learned much from Sigurd, both in terms of strategy and personal growth. Now, with her unwavering support, he felt ready to take the next step in his quest to reshape the Underworld.
