Immaculate Blood Demon in Supreme Magus!

Chapter 7: CHAPTER 7: Becoming an Apprentice! (Or Not)

"I thought I knew all the rascals, but I don't recognize this one. What's your name, boy?"

"Raizel, grandma. And yours?" he said, doing his best impression of a boy who had just been caught doing something wrong.

Nana was now more curious than angry.

"Raizel? So you're Elina's little devil? That's why I didn't recognize you. You were just a newborn the last time I saw you."

Nana's presence made the conversations stop. Some women wanted to ask when it would be their turn, while others were just curious. Elina jumped up from her chair and ran to her son's side. Her expression was tinged with concern and anxiety, fearing that her son had done something to annoy the village's only mage.

Nana cut off Elina's apologies.

"No need to apologize, Elina. Your son didn't damage the book while playing with it."

"Grandma, I wasn't playing, I was reading!" Raizel replied with false indignation.

Nana raised an eyebrow. "Reading? Young one, how old are you? Three years old or something? If this is a joke, it's not funny. I didn't think one of Elina's children would be such a liar."

Hearing Nana's words, Elina got angry. "My son is not lying! During the last storm, Raizel asked his father to teach him to read, write, and count. Here's the proof." Elina showed the ruler to Nana.

Elina's rebuttal caught Nana off guard, as if she had hit a nerve. Taking the ruler from Elina's hands, Nana recognized the potential of such a creation.

"This is truly a great learning tool. Tell your husband he could sell it to Professor Hawell. It's never a bad thing to have extra money."

Elina wouldn't let the matter go until Nana apologized for calling her son a liar.

"It wasn't Raaz who invented it, it was Raizel. He created it so he could study on his own without bothering anyone."

Nana was shaken by so many revelations. Her pride wanted to avoid apologizing, but accusing Elina of lying in front of so many people would end up damaging the reputation of her entire family.

Thinking quickly, Nana decided to confirm Elina's words through questions.

"So, young one, what is seven times six?"

Raizel understood her intentions. "Forty-two."

Nana took the book from Raizel's hands, and after opening it to a random page, she handed it back.

"What is written here? Start from the beginning."

Raizel took a good look at the content. "The first thing to understand when studying magic is that it is merely a tool. Anyone can use it, but few can truly wield it correctly. In fact..."

"Okay, that's enough. I owe you an apology, Raizel." Then, she turned to Elina. "It seems you have been blessed with an extraordinary child, Elina."

The room was once again filled with conversation, but now all about the same subject.

Raizel felt a pull in his consciousness. Opening the system, he watched as the status tab was replaced by a locked tab. The red padlock symbol gradually turned white, and with a 'click,' a new tab was unlocked!

The old padlock symbol was replaced by a leaf with a dollar sign in the center.

Without wasting time, Raizel opened the new tab.

[WARNING! YOU HAVE UNLOCKED THE 'MISSIONS' TAB!]

[AS A FORMER GOD AMONG IMMORTALS, IT IS THE SYSTEM'S DUTY TO DRIVE YOUR GROWTH BEYOND THE HEAVENS. MISSIONS ARE THE SYSTEM'S WAY OF DIRECTLY ASSISTING THE HOST, STRENGTHENING THEM.]

[MISSIONS WILL BE GENERATED WHENEVER A SITUATION BENEFICIAL TO THE HOST ARISES!]

[MISSION: The host has met the healing mage, Nerea. She is impressed by your intelligence and sees great potential in you. Take advantage of this opportunity and become her apprentice.

Reward: +20 Guts Gu; Lurking Soul Coat Gu.]

Raizel's thoughts collided, generating several ideas. After making his decision, he spoke in a hesitant voice.

"Hmm, can I borrow your book for a while? I swear I'll return it intact."

Raizel's plan was simple.

Nana raised an eyebrow. "And what would you do with it? Do you already know how to use magic?" Her response would normally have been different, but today had been full of surprises, and she couldn't afford any more sarcasm or skepticism.

'Perfect.'

"Yes!" Raizel replied. In his plan, Nana would ask him to demonstrate his abilities and then invite him to become her disciple.

Feeling his mother's gaze, Raizel knew he was in trouble. He didn't care—benefits and calamities go hand in hand. Even if she was angry now, she would be grateful once she experienced the benefits of having a prodigious son.

"Really? What can you do?" Nana was curious.

"Yes, Raizel. What can you do?" Elina added.

With a timid voice, Raizel answered, "I can use water and wind task magic."

The chatter in the room grew louder. Elina wanted to scold him, but she couldn't do it in front of so many people—especially when they were looking at him with admiration.

"Nana seems truly impressed. Maybe this is a turning point in Raizel's life. If she takes him as her apprentice, we could have a healer in our family. I can't ruin this opportunity."

Elina decided to remain silent and simply observe.

"Can you show me, please?" Nana asked, smiling for the first time.

'Now it's all or nothing!' Raizel thought.

"Brezza!"

Raizel twirled his index and middle fingers twice, creating four small whirlwinds and sweeping them across the entire room. He could have conjured a dozen without breaking a sweat, but his goal was to impress, not to frighten.

For now, Raizel decided to wait and see how much talent he should reveal. With his soul path methods sealed and no ability to manipulate space, he needed to learn more about this world.

Nana began to laugh in admiration. She could see more and more of herself in the little troublemaker. Nana had also been a precocious brat. At his age, her talent had been greater, but Raizel was still a sight to behold.

Men were usually less talented in magic, as women, with their prerogative of giving birth, were naturally more in tune with the planet's life force. Some called this world energy, while others simply referred to it as mana.

Moreover, boys from rural areas were generally stubborn, more inclined to work hard in the fields or join the military rather than spend years buried in books.

"Now, I want you to do something for me. You said you can conjure water, right?"

"Summon water now, no matter how little. But then, you must not let it fall. You have to make it float, like this."

A perfectly round sphere of water, the size of a fist, appeared half a meter away from Nana's open hand.

Raizel partially understood Nana's intentions.

"Jorun!" He conjured a Soul Cup. He shaped the water into a sphere, though it had small irregularities.

The water floated for a few seconds before Raizel let it drop. But before it touched the ground, it started to rise again, orbiting Nana's spell like the moon orbits the Earth.

Both spheres rotated around each other, capturing the sunlight and reflecting it in a rainbow of colors.

The sight truly amazed Raizel. Suddenly, he grasped the true potential of magic.

Without Gu or Dao marks to limit him, Raizel finally understood the potential of the Transcendent Gu.

With it, his ability to adapt his knowledge and experience would skyrocket. Raizel truly needed the reward from this mission.

"Dear, are you alright?" Elina asked. To her, her son had simply been moved by Nana's magic.

In Raizel's heart, his desire solidified even further. He didn't just want immortality—he wanted knowledge. He wanted the power to experience everything the world had to offer and, above all, freedom.

"I'm fine, Mother. I was just moved by the old lady's magic."

"My name is Nerea, little Raizel. But everyone calls me Nana."

"Why Nana?"

Nana was usually a term of endearment used for the family's grandmother.

"You see, when I was still a young maiden, everyone called me by my name. But then, time passed, and I helped so many children come into this world that they started calling me 'Mom.' After even more time, those children had their own kids and began calling me 'Nana.'" She ruffled Raizel's hair.

"I have a proposal for you. Right now, you're too young, but when you turn six years old, instead of going to school with the other hardheaded kids, you could come here. You'll be able to read as much as you want and even learn my craft."

Raizel tilted his head, pretending not to understand. But internally, he was smiling.

"I don't know... You don't seem very cool. But I would like the books, though." He replied, hiding behind his mother, with only half of his face peeking out from behind her legs.

Elina didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Her dream had come true, but Raizel didn't understand what he was rejecting.

"Please forgive him, Nana. He's only three years old; he has no idea what he's saying. He doesn't even understand the importance of learning."

"Three years old," Nana repeated. "It's almost too good to be true. But you're right—if he had to choose between gold and toys, he'd probably pick the latter.

We'll have this conversation again in three years." She knelt down, looking Raizel directly in the eyes.

"If you don't turn out as dumb as all the other boys in this village, I will take you as my apprentice. That is, if you're still interested in magic and books."

Raizel nodded, clutching his mother's dress.

In his heart, he roared in fury! Nana had not accepted him as a disciple yet, preventing him from receiving his rewards. Raizel had been so happy that he let it cloud his judgment.

'Hmph!' he sighed in resignation.

My goal is to create a few new branches of magic for Raizel's arsenal.

With the system, refining Gu worms and Gu in general will be updated to make sense within the magical laws of Supreme Magus.

Soul magic will be a trait of Raizel's bloodline, meaning he will only be able to actively use his abilities once he reaches the blue core. He will maintain a monopoly on this magic to counter Mogar's great powers (the Guardians) in the future.

Void magic will be created by Solus using Raizel's memories of Earth.

Dimensional magic will be the primary magic in Raizel's arsenal.

I need your help adjusting the Gu worm system from Reverend Insanity so that it makes sense in Supreme Magus. In other words, it must have both advantages and disadvantages.

My idea was to use the concepts of body sculpting magic, alchemy, and mastery of forging to create living beings (Gu worms). Thanks to the system, Raizel has knowledge of all the paths from Reverend Insanity.

Share your ideas so I can add them to the story. Remember, don't make them too overpowered, and they must make sense within the world of Supreme Magus. Be as detailed as possible.
