Chapter 1365: Physical Enhancement
Although Yuga had invited Ninetales to shoot the commercial, preparations were needed before filming could start, so Ninetales would have to wait a few days. Fortunately, it was no longer as upset; waiting a few days wouldn't be a problem.
One day, Joyka called Yuga to the Pokémon Center, saying she had something to show to him.
When Yuga arrived, he found that although the Pokémon Center was bustling with people, everything was running smoothly, and Joyka and Blissey were no longer flustered like before.
The reason was the addition of several new staff members, all unfamiliar faces. It was clear that Joyka had taken Yuga's previous advice to heart—these were assistants she had applied for to help with the workload.
With the extra hands, Joyka was finally freed from various trivial tasks and could focus on her duties as a Pokémon doctor.
Seeing Yuga enter, Joyka happily waved at him and said, "Come over here!"
Yuga approached and asked, "What good stuff do you have that made you call me over?"
"Follow me!" Joyka mysteriously grabbed Yuga and led him inside.
Once they reached the pharmacy room, she took out an exquisite wooden box. The box was about half a meter long and ten centimeters wide. When opened, it revealed several neatly arranged glass bottles, each cushioned by a soft pad underneath.
"Guess what this is?" Joyka asked mysteriously.
"Stop being mysterious and just tell me already! How would I know?"
Yuga looked at the beautifully crafted glass bottles inside the wooden box. They contained a pale green liquid, and upon closer inspection, faint glows of fluorescence could occasionally be seen within, making them appear very beautiful.
From the intricate details of the box, bottles, and padding, it was clear that whatever was inside was quite valuable.
"Ugh, you're no fun at all!" Joyka huffed in disappointment at Yuga's lack of enthusiasm. Then, eyeing his smooth, fair skin, she asked, "Seriously, what miracle medicine have you been taking? Look at your skin—I'm so jealous!"
As she spoke, she reached out, trying to touch his face.
Yuga's transformation in appearance had been quite drastic, and word had already spread around town. Naturally, Joyka knew about it, but since Yuga had always avoided talking about it, everyone refrained from asking.
Only Joyka was bold enough to be so direct.
Yuga slapped away Joyka's mischievous hand. "Focus! If you don't get to the point, I'm leaving!"
Joyka rolled her eyes, withdrew her hand, and took out one of the glass bottles from the wooden box. "These are potions I made using the Master level Parasect's mushrooms you sold me."
Yuga's interest was piqued. "Really? What's so special about them?"
Joyka raised an eyebrow and said, "Guess."
"Are you going to tell me or not? If not, I'm really leaving!" Yuga pretended to turn away.
Seeing this, Joyka quickly stopped teasing. "Okay, okay, don't go! I'll tell you!"
She was counting on these potions to make money—she couldn't let her golden goose run away.
Recently, she had earned some money helping Yuga treat the Squirtle, Wartortle, and Blastoise, but making these potions had cost her all of it.
Aside from the main ingredient, Parasect's mushrooms, the potions required many supplementary materials, each quite expensive. If she didn't recover her investment soon, she'd be broke.
Pharmacists spent money quickly—they earned fast, but they burned through cash even faster.
"This potion can enhance a Pokémon's physical attributes, especially for those excelling in physical attacks or defense," Joyka introduced the potion briefly. The effect wasn't complicated, but it was very practical.
"Does it work on Champion-
level and Master level Pokémon?" Yuga asked, staring at the potion.
"It works on Champion level Pokémon, and the effect is particularly significant. As for Master level, I'm not sure," Joyka replied, as she hadn't had the chance to test it on any Master level Pokémon.
"What about side effects? Are there any?" Yuga continued.
"There are no side effects!" Joyka glared at Yuga. She had used so many high-quality ingredients—if she ended up making something with side effects, wouldn't that ruin her reputation? The formula for this potion was a treasured secret of the Joy family, with guaranteed quality. However, it hadn't been made in a long time because obtaining Master level Pokémon materials wasn't easy for everyone.
Seeing Joyka's glare, Yuga gave an awkward smile. "I was just asking casually, no offense intended. Why are you so worked up?"
"Do you want it or not? If not, I'll sell it to someone else!" Joyka huffed. The potion was in high demand, and if not for the idea of keeping the wealth within the family, she wouldn't have bothered talking so much.
"Of course I want it! How much?" Yuga asked without hesitation.
From Joyka's tone, Yuga could tell this potion significantly boosted a Pokémon's strength. A potion capable of enhancing Champion-level or even Master-level Pokémon was a rare find.
Joyka held up five fingers.
"Five hundred bucks?" Yuga asked with a grin.
"Dream on! It's five million!" Joyka shot back, using Yuga's own earlier words against him.
"Alright, five million it is. But if it doesn't work, I want a refund!" Yuga replied. If the potion worked as promised, five million wasn't expensive.
"If it doesn't work, I'll not only refund you but also give you another five million!" Joyka declared confidently. She carefully placed the potion back into the wooden box and handed it to Yuga. "Cash on delivery!"
Yuga swiftly transferred the money and took the wooden box. "It's just five million, no big deal."
ヽ(#`_つ) Joyka huffed, "Unlike you, Mr. Rich, I'm just an ordinary person who's always short on money!" Jealousy was written all over her face. She felt like Yuga would drive her crazy one day.
"Hey, and yet you said you'd pay me five million extra. Do you even have two five-million to spare?"
"Get lost!"
Joyka felt like she had been shot straight in the chest. Other than the five million Yuga just paid, she really didn't have a second five million.
"Alright, I'll be heading back then!"
Seeing that Joyka was about to explode, Yuga quickly made his escape.
Once home, Yuga greeted Dou Dou before heading to the Ecopark. He decided to use the potion on Absol.
Even though the box contained more than a dozen bottles, according to Joyka, it was best to use them all on a single Pokémon for maximum effect. If distributed among several Pokémon, the effect wouldn't be as impressive.
This type of physical-enhancing potion was perfect for a power-type Pokémon like Absol. Absol's physical capabilities were already remarkable, and with this potion, who knew how much stronger it could get?
Yuga was quite excited.
Upon reaching the ecological park, Yuga led Absol to the Snowy Mountain Sub-Ecopark and stopped at a spot filled with icy peaks.
Absol looked at Yuga in confusion, wondering why they had come here.
Opening the wooden box in his arms, Yuga took out one bottle of potion and said to Absol, "Today, I've got something good for you to try."
Just as Absol was about to ask what it was, Yuga continued, "First, attack that ice block with all your strength."
Yuga pointed at a massive chunk of ice, which was practically the size of a small mountain.
"Absol~"
Although Absol didn't understand what Yuga was planning, it obediently followed his instructions.
Boom!
With a loud boom, the massive ice block, resembling a small mountain, was left with a gigantic crater after Absol's Hell Thrust.
Some of the ice blocks in the Snowy Mountain Sub-Ecopark weren't ordinary; their hardness rivaled that of steel plates, making it difficult for regular Pokémon to leave even a scratch.
The ice block Yuga used for the test was precisely one of those.
"Not bad, not bad," Yuga nodded in satisfaction, looking at the large hole Absol had created. When it came to attack power, Absol was unquestionably top-tier. "Let's try another spot."
Saying that, Yuga led Absol to the other side of the ice block. Just as Absol was about to attack again, Yuga quickly stopped it.
"Hold on, drink this first!" Yuga raised the potion in his hand. Absol cooperatively lowered its head and brought its mouth close to Yuga's hand.
Absol trusted Yuga unconditionally, knowing he would never harm it. Whatever Yuga gave it, it would drink without hesitation or question.
Absol's large size made the potion, barely the size of Yuga's palm, disappear in an instant before it could even taste it properly. It swallowed it down in one gulp.
As soon as the potion entered its stomach, Absol felt a warm current coursing through its body. Wherever the warmth passed, it felt as if its cells were cheering in delight, creating a wonderful sensation.
Yuga watched Absol closely, trying to detect any visible changes. Suddenly, a faint dark light shimmered on Absol's forehead—the location of the unknown seed.
The dark light flickered gently. Yuga had no idea what was happening, but Absol, with its eyes closed and sensing the changes inside its body, could feel another stream of warmth surging from its forehead.
The two streams of warmth gradually merged, working together to reshape its body.
No one knew how much time had passed before the warmth inside gradually faded away. Absol slowly opened its eyes.
"How do you feel?" Yuga eagerly asked.
"Absol~"
It's felt mazing!
Absol felt an overwhelming surge of power coursing through its entire body.
"Great! Let's test it again!" Yuga grinned excitedly. Judging by Absol's reaction, those five million weren't spent in vain.
BOOM!!!
Another deafening explosion echoed through the air. This time, under Absol's assault, the ice block shattered in half.
Yuga stared in astonishment at the ice shards scattered all over the ground, his mouth agape in shock. "So powerful!"
The boost was simply incredible. That was only after using one bottle—if Absol used the entire set, how powerful could it become?
Absol, equally surprised by the results, gazed at the scene it had created. Did I really do that? Am I really this strong?
As these thoughts raced through its mind, its eyes burned with excitement as they locked onto the wooden box Yuga held. Earlier, it had noticed that there were plenty more bottles inside.
If it drank them all...
The more Absol thought about it, the more excited it became.
Among Yuga's main Pokémon, Absol was the most obsessed with power. It was deeply fascinated by strength.
Noticing the eager gleam in Absol's eyes, Yuga chuckled and said, "No rush. These are all yours, but we can't use them all today. We'll take the second bottle tomorrow."
Joyka had warned him that although the potion had no side effects, it needed to be taken gradually. For Champion level Pokémon, the ideal dosage was one bottle per day.
As Yuga spoke, he patted Absol's thigh, feeling the firm muscles hidden beneath its smooth fur.
Sensing the changes in Absol's body, Yuga couldn't help but touch it all over, discovering that Absol had indeed become much stronger and more resilient.
In the blink of an eye, more than ten days had passed. During this period, Yuga diligently fed Absol one bottle of the potion every day and took it through intense training to help it absorb the medicinal effects quickly.
He followed Joyka's instructions precisely.
However, over the following days, the changes brought by the potion were not as dramatic as the first time, but Joyka assured him that this was normal.
When Absol finally consumed the last bottle of the potion, Yuga once again took it to the Snow Mountain Sub-Ecopark.
Boom!!!
With Absol's full-force attack, an entire mountain-sized block of ice suddenly exploded into a pile of shattered ice. This ice block was similar in size to the one Absol had attacked last time.
"Great, fantastic!" Yuga shouted excitedly, running to Absol's side.
Absol was also very happy, lowering its head to rub against Yuga. Yuga patted its head and once again touched it all over, finding that Absol was now covered in solid, well-defined muscles.
Previously, Yuga had arranged a battle between Absol and Dragonite, and in a pure contest of strength, Absol had completely overpowered Dragonite—despite Dragonite having a significantly higher level!
Of course, the potion's enhancements not only improved Absol's attack power but also boosted its defense and speed, which had become evident during the past ten days of training.
It could be said that the potion provided Absol with a comprehensive enhancement. Yuga felt that the five million he had spent was worth every penny—this was the true power of spending money!
"From now on, let's keep up the hard work and aim to break through to the Champion level as soon as possible—then move towards the Master level!" Yuga declared confidently after checking Absol's body.
"Absol~"
Absol howled into the sky, filled with ambition and determination. Its goal wasn't just the Master level—it wanted to become a level 100 powerhouse like Ninetales and Aegislash!
Over the past ten days, preparations for the commercial shoot at Everlasting Workshop had been nearly completed, and the spokesperson, Elesa, had already arrived at the Everlasting Workshop headquarters.
As soon as Yuga stepped out of the Ecopark, he received a call from Kiriha.
"Everything is ready? Got it, I'll send Ninetales over right away."
…
"Please take care of Ninetales during the shoot, okay? Thanks, I appreciate it."
After hanging up the call with Kiriha, Yuga found Ninetales.
Ninetales had been looking forward to this commercial shoot for a long time. After waiting for over ten days, its patience was wearing thin. Now that it knew the shoot was finally ready, it was beyond excited.
After sending Ninetales' Poké Ball to Kiriha, Yuga reminded her once again to take good care of it before ending the call.
