Chapter 17 - Limit Release

The dangerously ankle-targeting tackle touched Kang Tan’s sore spot.

Filled with anger, Kang Tan began to pour out all his skills.

A curling shot that barely grazed the goalkeeper’s fingertips.

A flashy individual skill that instantly stripped two defenders with a rainbow flick.

Stealing the ball in the defensive zone and dribbling it to the penalty box for a shot without a single pass.

In just 20 minutes of the first half, Kang Tan alone scored 4 goals, making the score 4-0.

Teammates, coach, and coaching staff cheered from the bench.

“That guy must be crazy!”
“Kang Tan really is on a different level!”

Teammates high-fived each other, rejoicing in Kang Tan’s performance.

Even the coach couldn’t hide his pleased expression.

However, as the second half started, the atmosphere completely changed.

The opposing team no longer played to win the game.

Instead, all their checks focused on Kang Tan.

Tackles clearly aiming for injury came in succession, and the game became increasingly rough.

And finally, an accident happened.

One of the opposing defenders ran at full speed towards Kang Tan right in front of the goalkeeper.

The tackle flying towards his ankle, not the soccer ball, directly hit Kang Tan’s leg.

Looking at Kang Tan fallen on the ground, the defender smiled viciously.

‘Your arrogant player career ends now.’

That’s what was written on his face.

The referee immediately blew the whistle and pulled out a red card.

The defender was sent off, and Kang Tan slowly got up.

The stands held their breath, and worried expressions circulated on the bench.

Teammates, and even the coach, rushed over calling Kang Tan urgently.

“That crazy bastard! Hey! You son of a bitch!”

The children raised their voices in anger.

“Are you okay? Is your leg alright?”

There was clear anxiety in the coach’s voice.

Kang Tan lightly rotated his ankle.

“I’m fine?”

His face showed that even he couldn’t believe it.

“There’s no particular pain at all.”
“How is that possible? After being hit so hard…”

The coach looked at him with an expression of utter disbelief.

“There might be aftereffects. So let’s substitute you out for now and see how it goes. We’re in the lead, no need to overdo it.”

But Kang Tan firmly shook his head.

“I’m really okay. I can keep playing.”

The coach pondered for a moment, but seeing Kang Tan’s firm will, he sighed and nodded.

“Alright. But promise me you’ll raise your hand immediately if you feel even the slightest discomfort.”
“Yes, I understand.”

Kang Tan answered confidently and went back onto the field.

The game continued.

The opposing team couldn’t believe their eyes.

His leg, which should have been impacted, moved cleanly, and there wasn’t even the slightest limp.

From the bench, the coach watched Kang Tan closely.

“Kang seems to have exactly two legs.”

The assistant coach tilted his head and spoke.

“People usually have two legs.”
“No… I know that… I mean it’s like he’s switching to a spare, perfectly fine leg.”

As if to prove he was fine, Kang Tan stuffed another goal into the opponent’s net.

One of the opposing team members unconsciously muttered watching Kang Tan’s movements.

“How is he so fine…?”

Kang Tan heard that and grinned.

And he answered, pointing at that defender with both hands.

“That’s because you guys are bastards. Dirty and filthy sons of bitches.”

Teammates, coach, and Lucas were slightly shocked seeing Kang Tan like this.

He had always been unlike a child, as if treating them like children, never swayed emotionally.

That’s why they had never seen Kang Tan in such a sharp state.

‘But this appearance…’

He was nothing but an angered young child.

The game ended 6-0.

When the final whistle blew and Kang Tan’s team’s victory was confirmed, the stadium was filled with cheers and shouts.

There wasn’t any particularly difficult feeling.

But sweat flowed thanks to excessive concentration.

Kang Tan lifted his head while wiping sweat with the front of his uniform.

On the large scoreboard, an overwhelming score of 6-0 was clearly engraved.

His teammates hugged each other, enjoying the championship and shedding tears of joy.

Kang Tan smiled slightly, checking the score once again.

All 6 goals came from his feet.

Kang Tan’s performance caused ripples beyond simply the game result.

An overwhelming score of 6-0 against Sporting.

Moreover, Kang Tan scored all those goals alone.

His play left a strong impression on everyone present.

As soon as the final whistle blew, cheers and camera flashes poured towards Kang Tan.

From the stands, children to adults shouted Kang Tan’s name.

Scouts began busily writing something while looking at each other’s faces.

Even Sporting’s coach, the opposing team, approached Kang Tan and gave a thumbs up.

“You’re a truly special player. It’s an honor to have witnessed such talent.”

At the opposing coach’s sincere words, Kang Tan was about to raise his middle finger but barely held back.

“Thank you. Your players were thugs though? I’ll believe it wasn’t your instruction.”

Kang Tan delivered the words calmly and turned away.

And back in the locker room.

Even the long-awaited final ended in victory.

However, unlike the festive atmosphere when victory was confirmed, the air was somewhat subdued.

Today, Kang Tan played thoroughly alone.

Not feeling like he didn’t trust the team, but rather driven by anger.

All 6 goals were scored by Kang Tan.

When the ball went to his feet today, not once did a pass return to the team.

However, the team atmosphere wasn’t subdued simply because of such reasons.

All teammates were sincerely worried about Kang Tan’s ankle.

“Kang! We can’t do without you!”
“You idiot, why did you overdo it! You used to control yourself well even when angry.”
“Tell us immediately if it hurts or swells even a little.”

Kang Tan reassured his teammates, coach, and assistant coach.

“I’m really okay. Rather, I think I got too excited today and played the game alone…”

Lucas patted his shoulder and cut him off.

“Don’t say such things about feeling bad. I would have been pissed off too. Those crazy bastards.”
“There’s a limit to checking an ace. They crossed the line.”
“Yeah. Don’t keep today’s game in your heart.”

The atmosphere was one of everyone understanding Kang Tan.

The scouts began to move as soon as the game ended.

A scout from a prestigious European club watching the game picked up his phone and contacted headquarters.

“The game just ended. This is the talent we’ve been looking for. Yes, the name is Kang Tan. Remember it exactly. This child can change the future of the team.”

The conversations among scouts were consistent.

“6 goals against Sporting! Alone at that! Is that all? Don’t be surprised! His age is…”
“Does it make sense for such a player to be in CAT D?”

They were already making plans to bring Kang Tan.

The Mediterranean Cup is a game where promising players gather, making scouts’ eyes sparkle.

Even so, it was rare for young players participating to receive attention even from the media.

But Kang Tan was an exception.

Major foreign sports media began writing articles with titles like ‘A Divine Being Has Appeared’, ‘Europe’s New Soccer Genius’.

Local broadcasting stations selected Kang Tan as an interview subject and rushed in.

But La Masia didn’t allow it.

Not only broadcasting station officials, but reporters and foreign press had to stamp their feet in frustration.

As the award ceremony began, the excited voices of the spectators in the soccer field grew louder again.

The official theme music of the Mediterranean Cup played.

The host took the microphone and began the announcement.

“Now we will announce the individual award winners of this tournament! First, the top scorer! A player who showed amazing performance scoring a total of 15 goals in this tournament! That name that couldn’t be stopped even against strong teams like Benfica and Sporting… Kang Tan!”

As Kang Tan’s name was called, cheers erupted from the stands.

Kang Tan nodded leisurely and stood up from his seat.

Receiving the trophy, he looked at the award he was holding for a moment, then just coolly smiled at the excited cheers of his teammates.

“Next is the MVP award! Do we need any more words to describe this player? The best player of this tournament, Kang Tan!”

Once again, Kang Tan’s name was called.

“Hey, he’s taking it all!”
“I’m really curious, what does it feel like to have such soccer skills?”
“Kang! We got victory just by standing still thanks to you.”

Kang Tan made eye contact with his teammates who were sending jokingly cheering.

Receiving the trophy, this time too, he slightly raised his hand without much reaction.

After the awards, Kang Tan was sharing the joy of victory once again with Lucas and other teammates outside the stadium.

“Are you going to make it to the world stage at this rate?”

Lucas continued speaking with a face more proud than himself.

“You probably don’t know, but you’ve already caught the eyes of scouts big time.”
