I Raided the Demon’s Treasury

Chapter 98

Chapter 98

A grand party was in full swing at the base of the Diablo Clan.

This was not a simple gathering just among clan members; it was a large-scale party that invited players from nearby areas.

The idea originated from the notion of luring players out of the town to hunt the werewolf.

Since they couldn’t predict how long it would take and couldn’t afford to lie, they decided to host an actual party.

Se-woon and his clan members, having finished the hunt, joined the party later, which incidentally turned the gathering into a celebration of their successful hunt.

Of course, the external players who were laughing and chatting amongst themselves were oblivious to the actual reason.

“Please, won’t you accept us? It’s not just for me; it’s for our entire clan!”

“You know that you can’t exceed 50 members in a clan.”

“Then please accept us as a sub-clan! Despite appearances, we’re an elite clan with players ranked among the top hundred!”

“No need to go that far…”

At the center of the base, hedrick was passionately promoting his clan to Yoo Seoh-ah.

Since he couldn’t join alone, he was insisting on the acceptance of the entire clan.

‘A sub-clan…’

Honestly, there was no merit in becoming a sub-clan under another clan, which wasn’t even a guild.

However, for the Diablo Clan, accepting them posed no issue. In fact, it was beneficial.

As a sub-clan, there was no obligation to provide anything, and assistance could be requested comfortably when needed.

Just by lending them the name ‘Diablo Clan.’

With these thoughts, Se-woon put down the drink he was holding and nodded.

“Accept them.”

“But, is it alright?”

“They want it so much, what choice do we have?”

“Are you serious? Wow! You promised, right? I’ll report it to our clan leader right away! Yahoo! Clan leader! Hey, clan leader!”

Soon, a message appeared in front of Se-woon, indicating that the ‘Red Eagle’ clan had been absorbed as a sub-clan.

It seemed not only Hedrick was excited, but there were quite a lot of expectations from the other clan as well.

“Se-woon, when are you planning to go to the next floor?”

“After we’ve spent the entire month here.”

“That’s unexpected. I thought you’d say we should ascend immediately since we found a hidden piece.”

“I have a promise with the elder.”

“Ah, about the forge?”

Once they started ascending floors, it became increasingly difficult to find properly equipped forging facilities like the village’s forge.

Even upon reaching the next refuge, there was no guarantee they could borrow a forge. Therefore, they planned to fully utilize the one-month contract with the forge before moving.

This strategy would also increase the chances of survival for the Diablo Clan.

“Hyung, I’ve been looking for you! Let’s go quickly. I’ve reserved some beauties from the neighboring clan for you!”

As Se-woon was conversing with Yoo Seoh-ah, Park Jung-pil appeared, his face flushed red.

Having permitted drinking for the day, it seemed he had entirely forgotten Se-woon’s teachings and was already heavily intoxicated.

Watching the drunken fellow, Se-woon shook his head and stood up.

“Yoo Seoh-ah, can you take care of him?”

“What? Me?”

“Never mind. Kang Han-cheol!”

“Wh-why are you calling that guy all of a sudden, hyung!?”

“Did I?”

“Eek!”

By passing Park Jung-pil over to Kang Han-cheol, Se-woon managed to avoid a troublesome situation.

Se-woon bid farewell to Yoo Seoh-ah and moved to the outskirts of the base. The surrounding area was a bit noisy, but it seemed nobody was watching.

“So, what kind of deal do you propose?”

Se-woon muttered into the air.

While returning to the base after the werewolf hunt, he recalled the message left by Mammon.

Soon, as if it had been waiting, Mammon’s message appeared.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ mentions the werewolf’s materials.

“Is this it?”

Se-woon took out some materials he obtained this time.

The eyes and blood of a corrupted werewolf, among others.

These were materials obtained from Tabula’s wolf, and even Se-woon hadn’t figured out how to use them.

Originally, he knew werewolf materials besides nails or teeth weren’t particularly valuable.

Thanks to a subspace pouch, the materials had retained their freshness despite the passage of time, and Mammon continued his message.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ nods in agreement.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ promises to maintain access to the lowest tier of the Treasury if you offer them.

‘Hmm…’

The Treasury of Mammon—the Treasury of Greed. Se-woon remembered that he had been able to access it before, but only because he had lent Durandal. Naturally, after he had gotten the sword back, that access had ended. However, this time Mammon was offering him permanent access to the vault.

While the lowest-tier treasures weren’t particularly useful, Se-woon thought it wasn’t a bad offer, especially since he didn’t even know what to do with the materials he currently held.

Just as Se-woon was about to accept, a new Constellation interfered with the conversation.

– The Constellation, ‘Serpent of Envy,’ advises not to be deceived by that raven.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ flaps its wings broadly, telling it to stay out.

‘Hmm?’

At the advice of the Demon God of Envy, Leviathan, Se-woon immediately understood.

Perhaps the materials he had obtained were more valuable than he had initially thought.

– The Constellation, ‘Serpent of Envy,’ murmurs that the corruption of a werewolf is an exceptionally rare phenomenon even in the history of the Tower.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ insists quietly to stop, flapping its wings noisily.

– The Constellation, ‘Serpent of Envy,’ notes that the materials of a corrupted werewolf, in terms of rarity alone, are more precious than any jewel…

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ spreads its wings desperately to block the serpent’s message.

‘So that’s it.’

Thanks to Leviathan’s advice, Se-woon understood the situation clearly.

Even in his many explorations of knowledge before regression, Se-woon had not learned about the corruption of werewolves.

That was due to the fundamental pride innate to werewolves.

The belief in not harming their companions even if their lives were at risk.

Even werewolves exiled from their packs didn’t abandon this belief.

However, Tabula’s Wolf had shattered this belief, choosing to consume its kin and walking the path of corruption.

Although Se-woon didn’t know their effects, as Leviathan suggested, the rarity alone made the materials incredibly precious.

“Well, that makes sense.”

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ sighs deeply, clutching its forehead.

– The Constellation, ‘Serpent of Envy,’ lifted its head smugly, demanding to know who would try to con them.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ insisted once more, saying it was not a bad deal for him regardless.

Indeed, it wasn’t a bad deal. Although the materials were rare, Se-woon had no way to utilize them.

Instead of merely holding onto them, it was more beneficial to use them through Mammon’s deal to access the treasury.

However.

“Feel like we should adjust the deal a bit.”

Having recognized the value, it was necessary to elevate the level of the deal.

“Allow access to the low-tier treasures as well, instead of just the lowest.”

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ frowned.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ insisted that their value wasn’t that significant.

– The Constellation, ‘Serpent of Envy,’ called it a lie in rebuttal.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ hesitated briefly but said offering all low-tier treasures wasn’t worth it.

“I’ll only use consumables with surplus. I have no intention of ruining the collection.”

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ shook its head in refusal.

“I’ll use the other items on a ‘rental’ basis, just like I lent Dulangdal.”

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ exclaims in horror at the thought of dust touching its treasures.

“Really? Then I guess I’ll have to wait until someone shows up who can appraise the value of these.”

Se-woon raised the eye of the corrupted werewolf.

Although he hadn’t noticed initially, now he found its shimmering pupil quite beautiful.

Not just due to its rarity, but truly resembling a gem.

Se-woon wasn’t the only one with such thoughts.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ gave a worried look, diving into thought.

Caught.

Truthfully, if Se-woon hadn’t realized the value of these materials, the deal would have been swift. However, since recognizing their value through Leviathan, the outcome was set.

Mammon had exposed his greed for the materials first, and since Se-woon owned the materials, the bargaining leverage hung with him.

“I’ll stick to reasonable limits. When you opened the lowest tier for me before, I didn’t misuse it, did I?”

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ nodded silently.

Se-woon waited leisurely for Mammon’s response.

By now, Mammon wasn’t delaying because of uncertainty about the deal.

He needed time to convince himself of the materials’ worth.

Feeling the cool night breeze, soon Mammon’s reply came.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ agreed to accept your proposal.

– The Constellation, ‘Serpent of Envy,’ concluded it was a fair deal as a mediator.

Se-woon lightly pricked his index finger with Durandal’s edge.

Even with a Constellation, he shared the Tutorial with, he wasn’t going to reach a deal purely based on trust.

– The Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ dripped blood from the edge of its feathers.

– The Constellation, ‘Serpent of Envy,’ initially attempted to inform you of the contract law but was taken aback by your actions.

– The contract with the Constellation, ‘Bowed Raven,’ was finalized.

– Through the contract with the Constellation, a portion of ‘Mammon’s Treasury’ became available for you to use.

Once the contract was established, all the materials of Tabula’s wolf that Se-woon was holding vanished.

Although it felt a bit wasteful, the transaction resulted in an upgraded combat power for Se-woon without incurring any loss.

Although boasting about finding someone who could assess the value was a bluff, it wasn’t likely such a person would be easy to find.

Shortly thereafter.

– Opened the (True) Treasury of Greed.

Whoosh-

A new list of treasures from the Treasury unfolded before Se-woon’s eyes.

It was just one step up from the lowest tier to the lower-tier, yet the number of items on the list exceeded several hundred, reaching nearly a thousand.

‘Shall I take my time and look through them?’
