I have an Apocalypse City

Chapter 748 - 748 Task

Chapter 748: Chapter 748 Task

Quick recovery and territorial teleportation, the two abilities that can only be obtained once the City Lord’s seal has been unlocked to 110%. Generally speaking, if one could unlock the seal to 98% to gain rapid construction, it would already be pretty amazing. Many city lords don’t have the last three abilities.

After the monsters’ siege ended, the players inside the castle burst out, their cheers resonating loudly. At the final hour, almost everyone had lost hope, and many even gave up. But unexpectedly, they succeeded at the last moment, a feat so incredible it felt like a dream.

Standing amidst the ruins, watching as the monsters retreated, many players are reduced to tears of joy.

“We did it, we really did it, hahaha!”

“We won, we won!”

In Doomsday City, this was the first guild to successfully build a city. Previously, many had doubted them, even members of the City of Hope Alliance who didn’t think the city-building mission would succeed. Out of the original alliance of over a thousand players, less than three hundred remained!

Song Jian took a deep breath as the glow of the healing goddess statue enveloped everyone, continually refreshing their Vitality Points. It was at this moment he noticed a large number of players advancing rapidly towards the City of Hope’s territory.

With a hint of coldness in his eyes, Song Jian pulled out the City Lord’s seal. As he manipulated it, a virtual map of the City of Hope’s territory appeared. The map, almost 90% ruins, seemed translucent.

“Quick repair!”

Song Jian, controlling the City Lord seal, pointed at the city walls and city gates.

Splash!

The digitized resources started to disappear like flowing water, and all the city walls were instantly rebuilt.

“Arrow Towers, Catapults, City Defence Crossbows, Caltrops…”

Song Jian quickly repaired all the city’s defenses with resources disappearing like running water. Usually, repairing these structures would cost only a third of their original building cost, but now it was almost like rebuilding them from scratch.

Looking at the two Magic Crystal Railguns, Song Jian shook his head. Even ordinary repair methods wouldn’t be enough given the lack of resources.

The two Magic Crystal Railguns had killed at least three peak level bosses. They were the heroes of this monster siege!

Even without the Magic Crystal Railguns, Song Jian was confident he could fend off any guild challenges with the city walls, defences, and the remaining City of Hope players; all had regained their peak condition, including their vitality, spirit points, and mana.

Seeing the city’s wall reappear, all the guilds who had hoped to take advantage of the situation showed disappointment. They stopped in their tracks, sighed, and slowly disappeared from Song Jian’s sight.

In the end, only the few hundred players from the Pantheon were left, looking up at Song Jian on the city walls with dissatisfaction.

“Hmph, if I knew it would be only them, I should have let them enter the territory and then rebuild the walls, trapping them inside,” Song Jian thought, looking at the Pantheon players.

But he quickly dismissed the idea. After all, it wasn’t just the players from Pantheon who had hoped to benefit from the situation – over sixty percent of the guilds in Doomsday City had similar ideas. Some were just quicker, while others still hesitated.

Just those who had shown up outnumbered his team by over a thousand. Song Jian didn’t want the City of Hope, which had just lost more than thirty players, to suffer another loss.

“Damn, they actually succeeded!” Zeus gritted his teeth, his fists clenched, and his body trembling slightly. Never had he thought that city-building could be so easy. A horde of bosses had nearly reduced the Hope City’s territory to void. Yet, the city had still been successfully built. The reality felt surreal to Zeus.

“Guild Leader, let’s retreat. There’s no profit to be made here anymore,” the Wisdom God sighed and said softly.

The Pantheon had planned for this for a long time. They had hoped to attack the City of Hope alongside the monsters. But upon seeing the bosses that appeared, most of which were elite or even lord level bosses, everyone pulled back. After all, what if those bosses turned against them? Without the protection of city walls, their defeat would be inevitable!

In the end, as the monster horde grew, no one proposed to jointly attack anymore. Everyone believed it was impossible for the City of Hope to hold back such a large number of attacking bosses.

“Guild leader, we won! We’ve done it!” Wang Qi, leading all the players, charged towards Song Jian. It looked like they were planning to lift Song Jian into the air and toss him upwards twice in celebration.

Song Jian managed a small smile and flew into mid-air with his steel wings.

“Wang Qi, take care of the compensations for our deceased brothers. You must do it properly!” Song Jian commanded.

Hearing that the first thing Song Jian did after completing the mission was to ensure the proper compensation of their lost companions, everyone’s excitement diminished a bit, replaced by a sombre mood.

More than thirty brothers had lost their lives, all directly one-shotted by bosses. Over half of them were killed inside the castle – their vitality, despite the 1000% increase in recovery speed, couldn’t catch up with the boss’ lethal attacks.

“Also, everyone here is now a core member of the City of Hope’s future. We’ll elevate welfare benefits according to contributions. All the brothers standing here will be granted the title of knight!” Song Jian declared.

After becoming a city lord, Song Jian’s overall power greatly increased and his previous title of Viscount in the City of Sin was automatically revoked.

Every city lord automatically gets the Duke title, and no city lord can grant a title to another city lord. Regardless of the size of their city, all city lords hold equal standing.

Following the successful city foundation, it was time to celebrate. Buildings in the city were repaired one after another, returning the city to its former glory. Recruitment of NPCs was also stepped up. As for players, Song Jian believed that the current 300 were more than enough.

After the celebration, everything returned to normal, and once again, Song Jian found himself idle. On that day, an unexpected visitor caught him by surprise.

“Priest Cecilia, why… why are you here?” Song Jian asked with a somewhat guilty smile.

It was Priestess Cecilia who had taken away his follower Yarra, but when he saw Cecilia again, Song Jian couldn’t help but feel guilty.

“Song Jian, how did you do with the task I gave you?” asked Cecilia, her face full of smiles.
