Chapter 92: A Bountiful Harvest
Even before they entered the room, Dante had begun to feel an immense energy coming from the front.
And as they entered, Dante stopped and stared in amazement.
On the way here, Zapdos had already told them about having authority over this mountain. As the god, how he used his power to create an exclusive room to store his treasure.
Zapdos had also told them information regarding the formation of mystery dungeons. As it turns out, Mystery Dungeons can form in two ways: the natural way and the Pokemon-made.
Mystery Dungeons can only form in places with a high concentration of energy. After decades and even centuries of accumulation, this energy will have the chance to converge and cause the formation of Mystery Dungeons.
The difference between natural and Pokemon-made mystery dungeons comes from where this energy came from.
Energies that accumulate naturally in the wild are the most common way for Mystery Dungeons to form. Meanwhile, this dungeon in Mt. Thunder was formed due to the energy Zapdos emitted after staying for more than a hundred years.
And since it was made with most of his energy, he gained some authority regarding the operation of this dungeon. That part of the authority includes being able to create a separate room on the mountain peak.
In this room, the treasures Zapdos has collected over his more than five hundred years of life were placed.
With his Copycat vision, Dante saw different threads of energy escaping into various corners of the room.
Dante saw a large amount of pink glittering sand on the corner of the room, which he suspected was stardust. In the human world, a handful of this would be worth at least a hundred thousand credits. Based on the amount Zapdos had lying around, after being sold, all of these would be worth more than a hundred million!
In addition, he also saw various pieces of relics, gummies, seeds, and other evolutionary stones just lying around the room.
"A-a real treasure vault!"
Pikachu's eyes were sparkling as he looked around the room. He ran towards the nearest pile of stardust and made a diving motion.
"WHEEHH-OOF!"
The expected splash didn't come. Instead, Pikachu's momentum stopped with a crash, his head in direct contact with the pile.
"I told you, stop watching so many movies. Stardust is solid, not liquid. Your behavior is like jumping at the sand on the beach and expecting to be able to swim in it."
Dante sighed in exasperation. On the side, Zapdos also had a look of questioning life as he stared at the stupid Pikachu- the Pokemon who almost knocked him out earlier with one move.
"Ehehe, well, I always wanted to do that."
Pikachu got up from the pile of stardust, both of his paws holding a pile of said treasure.
"Hmph. So, do you choose all of the stardust here as one of the items to take out?"
"We can have all of these!?"
Pikachu's eyes sparkled after hearing Zapdos' words. He looked at the large amount of stardusts below him that could fill a swimming pool, then at Dante who had a look of amusement on his face.
"He's clearly fooling you, Pikachu. This stuff is probably something Zapdos just put here because they look good. You see those? Those are the real treasures here."
Dante pointed towards the middle of the room. Unlike the stardusts, seeds, and relics, which were placed haphazardly, the items here were meticulously arranged. In addition, the energy that the items emitted was much more than all the other items in the room combined.
Zapdos had a look of disappointment after hearing Dante. He thought he would be able to waste one of the chances they had.
"*Snort* Pick an item quickly and get out of here. I have other things to be busy with than entertaining the likes of you three."
"Like sleeping?"
Zapdos didn't bother to give Dante a response. He just glanced at him before looking around at the treasures with reminiscence.
"Rude. Anyway, don't pick that, Pikachu. If you really want to, we could buy gold or other shiny things to decorate your room after we get back."
"Awww, alright…"
Pikachu reluctantly let go of the stardust he picked up and walked back to Dante and Azumarill. Under Dante's lead, their team walked toward the middle of the room.
Even with how long Zapdos lived, there were only 47 treasures that he deemed worthy of keeping here. There were various stones, ores, and metal. Besides those, he also saw the claws and feathers of some Pokemon.
He first walked towards two treasures that he recognized. It was a pair of round stones, one was pink with black and yellow designs in the middle. Meanwhile, the other was a light blue stone with darker shades of blue in the center.
These are mega stones! The only two among Zapdos' collections.
Dante closely examined them, but with his limited knowledge, he could only determine that the pink one was for a Fairy-type Pokemon while the blue one was for an Ice-type.
"Is this the same stone you and Dante discovered?"
Azumarill looked over Dante's shoulder at the stones and asked. Pikachu, who recognized the similar design, nodded.
"Yup! Back then, we found ours behind the mountain wall."
"This is for a different Pokemon, though. The ones we found before were much more valuable."
Dante commented offhandedly before turning to look at the Legendary Bird standing at the room's entrance.
"Hey Zapdos, I have a special method for examining items. I just wanted to warn you so you don't get too agitated later."
"Hmph! As long as you don't cause any damage, you can do whatever you want."
Under Zapdos' scrutinizing gaze, Dante put the two stones in his Treasure Bag and read the description from the Item Menu.
Mawilite: a Mega Evolution Stone. It allows the Pokemon Mawile to undergo mega evolution.
Absolite: a Mega Evolution Stone. It allows the Pokemon Absol to undergo mega-evolution.
"So? Are you going to choose these two items?"
"Hmm, we'll look around first."
Dante took the Mega Stones out of the bag and returned them to their position. While these two Mega Stones can be sold for at least a billion credits, Dante already has enough money. What he's looking for now are items that can give their team a boost in strength or increase their potential.
Besides, if he ever gets a Mawile or Absol in the future, he could always go back here and trade with Zapdos for these two Mega Stones. From his earlier reaction, it seemed he didn't treasure these two Mega Stones much.
They continued to look around at the treasures Zapdos had. Dante was curious about the feathers and claws that Zapdos chose to place here and approached them first.
Silver Feather: a feather from Lugia's body with a remnant of their power. When held by a Flying or Psychic-type Pokemon, the potential within their body is stimulated.
Ice Feather: a feather from Articuno's body with a remnant of their power. When held by a Flying or Ice-type Pokemon, the potential within their body is stimulated.
Rainbow Wing: a feather from Ho-oh's body with a remnant of their power. When held by a Flying or Fire-type Pokemon, the potential within their body is stimulated.
As expected, all the items Zapdos collected must also be at the Legendary level. Besides the feathers, they also saw things like Entei's claw, a piece of ice from Regice, a branch from Xerneas, etc.
Dante doesn't know what stimulating the potential within the body means. Is it gaining another power? Increasing their stats?
Deciding to shelve that thought for later, he finally turned to look at the ores and stones in Zapdos' collection. Homing in on the brown, stone slate that gives off the largest energy, Dante was slack-jawed after reading the item's description.
Earth Plate (Fake): a replica of one of the eighteen Elemental Plates. Although containing only a fraction of the original's power, the amount is still immense enough to overwhelm weaker Pokemon that try to use it.
Boosts the power of Ground-type moves by 100%. If held by a Ground-type Pokemon, they will be able to constantly absorb the power of the earth to recover their energy and injuries.
Note: There are additional effects when held by the following Pokemon: Arceus
Dante tried very hard not to laugh out loud in excitement. This is the Earth Plate! An item made along with the birth of the universe!
"This! Ehem, I mean, I choose to take this treasure."
"Fine, choose two more then leave!"
Zapdos had a sad expression as he looked at the Treasure Bag in Dante's hand. Although he wasn't able to determine the use of this stone slab from the years since he found it, the fact he felt slightly suppressed when facing this item was enough to know it must be valuable.
Dante ignored the expression of frustration on Zapdos' face. After finding the Earth Plate, he felt a lot more eager when looking at the rest of the treasures.
And after finally looking through all of them, he chose two more items:
Primordial Seawater: A water containing a part of Kyogre's power. When ingested by a Water-type Pokemon, the potential within their body is stimulated.
Spectral Mist: A mist containing a part of Marshadow's power. When absorbed by a Ghost-type Pokemon, the potential within their body is stimulated.
