Chapter 56: Accelgor
Dante finally realized the identity of Arataki Itto after Shinobu's introduction. As it turns out, he was the Bug-type Gym leader in Japan.
Because of his love for Bug-type Pokemon, Itto aimed to collect all the Bug-type Pokemon in the world and let them live in the forest just next to his Gym, hoping they can one day reproduce and be present in all of Japan.
Of course, such irresponsible dreams will not be approved by the Alliance. Not to mention the ecological problems it will cause, it is also tantamount to openly stealing other countries' exclusive Pokemon.
Shinobu, even when she was young, already possessed a high degree of intellect. She helped her Uncle and the gang take care of the legal problems involved in achieving their dream, and slowly but surely introduced some non-invasive foreign Bug-type Pokemon in the forest.
At the beginning of the year, Itto held the annual Bug catching contest in that forest. It was also there that Shinobu caught Shelmet, winning the contest and permanently obtaining her as a prize.
Hearing this, Dante was a bit puzzled.
"How were you able to hold a contest like that? Doesn't the Pokemon in the forest attack the contestants?"
"Heh, I convinced them with my awesomeness."
Itto proudly declared while posing in front of Dante.
Shinobu on the side covered her face in exasperation at her uncle's antics before she explained for Dante.
"Although it pains me to admit it, my uncle is correct. I don't know how, but he befriended all the Pokemon in that forest. That day, he bribed them with food so they would not attack any passing humans."

After some catching up, Shinobu and Itto finally began to proceed with the evolution of Shelmet and Karrablast.
Currently, they are in one of the vacant rooms inside the Alliance branch building that was lent to them courtesy of Itto's status.
Shinobu took out a long cord from her backpack, giving one end to Shelmet and the other end to Karrablast.
This is a Linking Cord, an item that triggers evolution when held by certain types of Pokemon.
"Alright. Shelly, release some energy to the cord. Do the same on your end as well, Karrablast."
Shinobu held her hands akimbo and commanded the two Pokemon. On the side, Dante, Pikachu, the Arataki gang, and even Itto were watching Shinobu's performance with rapt attention.
Suddenly, both Shelmet and Karrablast lit up. The cord sparked with electricity. The forms of the two Pokemon began to change, the cord slowly disappearing with it…

"Good morning, everyone!! It's me, Mike Loud, who will once again be responsible for today's commentary! I hope you're wide awake, for we are about to start the first battle of the day!"
At the waiting area, the remaining contestants were seated as they waited for their name to be called.
Dante looked around and noticed that the audience seats were noticeably more filled than yesterday.
In the VIP seats, many professional looking people were present, holding either a tablet or notebook in their hands. They were most likely the scouts of some Pokemon University.
"Today, we have our local Grass-type Gym leader Ms. Erika to commentate on this match with me."
"Hello everyone, what lovely weather we have for today's competition."
A gentle looking woman with bob cut hair smiled as she greeted the audience. Her voice sounded soothing, like a gentle breeze passing through the fields. (Picture in comments)
Dante recognized her from the Pokemon games as the leader of the Celadon Gym in Kanto. This was the first time Dante got close to meet a Pokemon character he knew from his previous world.
When the crowd learned that the Gym leader of their city came to watch the game, they instantly grew wild.
"Wow! I'm so lucky to be able to see Miss Erika today!"
"Mom look! Look! It's Ms. Erika!"
"Please marry me, Ms. Erika!!"
"As expected of Ms. Erika's reputation! Thank you for sparing the time to join us today."
"Please, just call me Erika. It's also fortunate that this competition always coincides with the end of the Gym circuit. At this period, we Gym-leaders have a whole month of free time with nothing to do."
"And thank you for choosing to spend your free time with us! Then Erika, which among the contestants do you think is more likely to win?"
Erika put her hand under her chin and then gave a smile to the camera.
"I can say that each of the young Trainers present, and even those that were eliminated yesterday, have already shown everyone what they are capable of. From my perspective, each and every one of them is already a winner."
Hearing her words, the crowd once again burst into a more enthusiastic applause. On the side, Mike Loud also praised her for her generous statement.
"And now, let's begin the first match! Let's welcomeeee! Trainers Shinobu and Kyle!"
The crowd began to cheer as the named Trainers walked onto the field.
On the opposite side of Shinobu, the Trainer named Kyle had a confident smile on his face as he walked towards his assigned position. He gave a nod to Shinobu as a sign of respect, before the both of them released their Pokemon under the referee's signal.
When he saw Accelgor appearing instead of Shelmet, the smile on his face slowly fell.
"WHAT A SURPRISE!!! Trainer Shinobu's Shelmet has evolved from yesterday and has now become Accelgor!"
The crowd began discussing these changes. Shinobu and Shelmet already showed a strong performance yesterday, especially against the Scyther.
With Shelmet evolving into Accelgor, the general consensus is that Shinobu has now risen among all the Trainers to become the favorite to win the championship.
Kyle on the opposite side had a more serious expression after he processed all of this.
'Damn it! I thought this was going to be an easy win with my Murkrow! With Murkrow's Insomnia, he won't be affected by Yawn. We just had to make use of Murkrow's faster speed and type-advantage to kite Shelmet! But now…'
The battle began and Accelgor began to show just how different she was from yesterday.
At the beginning, Accelgor instantly disappeared in place and arrived at Murkrows blindspot. With a racial limit of 123 Speed, Accelgor is known to be one of the fastest Pokemon in the world.
Based on Dante's estimate, her Speed has increased from 25 pre-evolution to above 70 currently!
"Shelly, use Acid Spray!"
Acid Spray is an upgraded version of the move Acid. It is a Poison-type special attack with a base power of 40. What makes it different from Acid, however, is that it guarantees to reduce the opponent's Special Defense by 20%.
After being hit by the attack, before Murkrow even had time to counter-attack, Accelgor once again moved to another place. This continued to go on for a few more rounds.
In the end, Murkow wasn't even able to touch Accelgor for the whole match before he fainted.
