Chapter 104: A Friend from the Past

When Arlon returned to the table, he found none of the players there.

A quick scan of the banquet hall revealed the reason: each player had been whisked away to another table, talking to various influential figures.

Some of them seemed to be enjoying the attention, like Pierre, who was animatedly gesturing as if recounting a grand tale.

Others, like Evan and Zack, looked like they were being interrogated for state secrets.

Arlon sighed. He retrieved the copy's memories to check the types of questions being asked, but what he uncovered left him stunned.

---

Even when the people were talking to the saviors, there was a hierarchy.

While Zack was talking to the Forge Consortium of the Dwarves, the more important Arlon the guide was talking to the Moonfang Clan.

The Beastmen are governed by a council of clans, with the Moonfang Clan as the leading authority.

Of course, this governance was only nominal, they didn't interfere with the government.

But, like the Magus Council who gathered Maguses, Moonfang Clan also gathered the other Beastman clans.

It was the third-biggest organization after the government and the Magus Council in Trion.

But, since there wasn't a fight between races, no one knew which one, the council or the clan, was stronger.

Since the head of the Moonfang Clan wasn't here, they didn't show themselves at Zephyrion's table.

However, they still invited Arlon the guide and no one else dared to act faster to talk to the star of the banquet.

So, in the end, the copy accepted the invitation while Arlon was away with Ejen.

But, when he approached the table, he saw something he couldn't believe.

"Yuma?"

In front of Arlon was the weak and cute dog Beastman, Yuma, from Istarra.

He had met her the first day he entered Trion in this timeline and helped her arrange flowers.

And they had met a few times after that. She was someone, along with the Fhrem Situ, Arlon thought of as a friend after 10 years.

But, what was this weak Beastman doing here, among the influential people?

"Sir Arlon! Long time no see!" Yuma greeted him warmly. "You didn't even say goodbye when you left us in Istarra. It made us sad, you know. So, I came to see you," she said.

"What? You came just for that?" Arlon was shocked to hear that.

"Hehe, of course not. I'm joking. But the part about being sad is true."

The copy scratched his head awkwardly. "I'm sorry. We left with a big group, and it must have slipped my mind."

Arlon was telling the truth.

He had regretted not talking to Situ and Yuma before leaving, but he had forgotten it at the time since he hadn't had anyone for the last ten years to say goodbye to.

"So, why are you here if it is not for me?" Arlon mused.

"Well, actually I am here for you. That part turns out to be correct also. But not in the same way. I am a part of the Moonfang Clan."

Arlon didn't know what the Moonfang Clan was, but it was obvious from the getup that it was one of the important organizations.

But he also knew that Yuma wasn't strong. So, why was she sent as a representative?

"Sir Arlon, I can see that you are thinking something rude."

"Huh? No, I wasn't-"

"It is okay, you are right. I am here even though I am not someone influential. But it is okay. These clans or councils don't matter since the races started living in peace with each other.

Of course, we are in wartime and every organization will work together if needed. That is why I, the chief's daughter, was sent here to meet you!"

When Yuma dropped the bombshell, Arlon couldn't talk for a second.

"Chief's daughter? Do you mean the chief of the clan?"

"Why, yes. I am the daughter of the chief of the Moonfang Clan."

Arlon immediately understood the chief was someone important. But he still didn't know how important this information was.

Chief of the Moonfang Clan, the third strongest organization in all of Trion, was one of the strongest Trionians alive.

He was on par with Birna.

And his daughter was... Yuma, the weak girl.

"So, when I heard you killed a Demon, I knew some kind of meeting would be arranged. I requested my father to bring me with him.

It turns out, he was in the middle of something important, so he sent me as a delegate."

"I see, so that is why. I didn't know you were so important," Arlon accepted, thinking back to the times Yuma sat in the back seats, right in front of the children during the meetings.

Since the seating arrangement showed status, Arlon was wondering the reason why she sat there.

So, when he asked, she said "Even though my father adores me, it doesn't change the fact that I am weak. And I won't use my father's power to change my status.

That is even worse than being weak. And old man Charon knew it, so he didn't change my seating ever."

Arlon was glad that he felt this way. He was also sure now that Yuma's worth would increase in time.

As a Beastman, she needed to show physical strength to be shown respect. But, her strength wasn't physical.

"Ah, I forgot! Puma, come here." She called someone.

Then, another dog Beastman who looked really similar to Yuma approached them. But he was definitely not cute, unlike Yuma.

"This is my big brother, Puma. he is the next head of the clan."

Arlon understood that the chatting time was over. "Nice to meet you, I am Arlon."

Puma looked him over with sharp eyes before breaking into a grin. "So, you're the one my sister wouldn't stop begging our father to let her visit."

"Hey! Stop lying!" Yuma punched Puma on the shoulder. Though it was clear it didn't hurt, Puma exaggeratedly rubbed the spot.

"Hehe! Okay, okay. Nice to meet you, Arlon," Puma said, finally shaking his hand. "Thanks for looking after my sister back in Istarra."

"It's nice to meet you too. And honestly, she helped me just as much," Arlon replied.

Puma smirked. "She does have that effect, doesn't she?"

"Hey, quit talking like I'm not here!" Yuma huffed, crossing her arms.
