Chapter 102: Politics (2)
Arlon waited for his turn. It seemed like they were talking about something fun at first, but then, they moved toward more serious topics.
Or at least that was how it seemed to Arlon from his table since he couldn't hear anything.
"When will you be invited?" Pierre asked.
"I don't know. I think when the topic comes to us," Arlon answered.
The copy was still Sir Arlon for the players since he was an NPC who should be treated with respect.
So, they mostly interacted with Arlon the player. Arlon also thought that he should have used a different name for Arlon the guide since it caused a lot of issues.
But, he had introduced himself to Charon that way and he hadn't thought that the things would come to this.
Charon had connections among the administrators, so he had mentioned Arlon's name as a guide.
Of course, he has connections. I still don't know much about him.
While he was thinking about that, one of the servants approached and invited Arlon and the copy to the main table.
But before they went to the table, the servant gave the copy something.
He said that the item was sent by Zephyrion and Arlon the guide needed to put it in his pocket.
Since they didn't have much time, the copy did as he was told. In the worst-case scenario, the spell would be broken and the copy would vanish if this was something dangerous.
They followed the servant to the main table.
When they arrived, everyone was looking at them. There were two empty chairs on the opposite side of Zephyrion.
Before sitting, though, they greeted Arlon and looked at the others.
"Mr. Arlon, it seems like you took off your mask today," Zephyrion said to Arlon.
"He, so this young man is Arlon. I was wondering why you used magic on your face, so you use a mask normally..." Sheila said.
Arlon was shocked that his magic was seen just like that. Even though he himself wasn't the best magician, this was a magic created by Agema.
"What? Are you surprised I saw that? Kekeke! You are at least a hundred years too young to deceive us," Sheila continued.
"Come on, Sheila. You didn't have to show off by telling him that you knew," Birna said.
Apparently, she had also seen through his magic.
He thought that Zephyrion had a chance to see through it, but he didn't think this would happen.
I don't think they can see my real face, though. he thought.
He was right. The two women as well as Zephyrion, Ejen, and Asmond, could only see that there was magic.
So, he was still in the clear. But the real issue now was that his copy would also be seen as a magically created doppelganger.
However... No one even glanced at the copy.
Only then did Arlon remember the item Zephyrion had sent for the copy.
It must be something concealing magic.
"Now, now... There is no reason to belittle our savior. He is the start of this banquet. Both of them are," Zephyrion interrupted.
"Please sit down," he added.
"Thank you!" Both Arlon and the copy said before sitting down.
"Sir Arlon, would you mind what happened during your Demon hunt to our guests here?" Zephyrion said to the copy this time. It would be more convincing coming from a Trionian.
Even though Zephyrion asked kindly, this was an order, so copy told the story they had revised beforehand.
"Hey, Zeph! If it is that easy, why don't we go ahead and capture all of them?" Sheila asked.
Everyone at the table flinched when she called Lord Zephyrion as Zeph.
"Sigh... How many times should I tell you not to call me that? Also, do you think we wouldn't do that if we could? First of all, we don't know where they are. This was a lead given by Mr. Arlon."
Everyone looked at Arlon.
"Umm... I just learned it by chance. You see I found a Mime and interrogated it. Luckily, he gave me the whereabouts of Draco."
This was also a lie created by Zephyrion and Ben beforehand.
"That is not the only thing, we also had a discovery. We found something on Poko Mountain thanks to Mr. Arlon," Zephyrion said. "But let's talk about it later."
Did they find the Monster Core? Arlon wondered.
"Luck, huh," Asmond said. Normally, he shouldn't have talked before being allowed since he was an extra.
Birna turned her head to look at Asmond, then sighed. "Continue," she said.
"Mr. Arlon, if it is okay with you, I have a question," Asmond said.
"Of course, please go ahead." Arlon knew that this would go in a bad direction, but he believed that he was in a safe space.
"Have you found anything interesting after killing this Demon by luck?" He was openly asking about the treasures.
"Huh? Why does it matter? Whatever we find there should naturally belong to us," the copy said.
It was better than Arlon directly saying it. It would only increase the enmity of the anti-saviors. Experience more tales on My Virtual Library Empire
"I am not too sure about that. Even if that is the case, you should have reported the findings. Since it was a Demon's nest, there could have been enchanted equipment that should belong to the Trionians and not the saviors," Asmond answered.
"Stop it," Birna said. "They killed the Demon, so they can hold onto whatever they want."
"Of course, my Lady," Asmond said right away. "I am not requesting them to give us the equipment. I just want to learn what they found for the records."
Birna looked at Zephyrion.
"Sigh... Sir Arlon, please tell them what you found," he said, giving up.
"Of course! We found three pieces of enchanted equipment as well as some minerals and gold," the copy answered.
"And what are the names of those pieces of equipment?" Asmond pressured.
Arlon, out of necessity, told their names: "Blade of Verdant Winds, Beacon of Solace, and Infernal Spire."
Everyone's mouth dropped after hearing the names, including Zephyrion's.
These three were really strong pieces, though not as good as Royals. Their history was known by every Trionian.
Especially the Infernal Spire was coveted by all Maguses.
