His next stop was at an armory where enchanted armors were displayed on mannequins. A large NPC armorer greeted him with a booming voice.

"Looking to fortify yourself, eh? This here is the Aegis Plate, enchanted to boost physical defense by 100%. A steal at 500 gold."

"Expensive... I'll take five," August stated.

Armor that gave a hundred percent defense to physical attacks would have been way more expensive but in the game, there were a lot more magical attacks than physical so it made sense for it to not be overpriced.

August was sure the price would be set up for hundreds of thousands of gold if it was a 100% magical boost.

Satisfied with his purchases in Tagharium, August headed toward the portal hub with his gold pouch significantly lighter but his inventory stacked with high-quality items.

"Destination?" the NPC question.

"Disco City," August replied while handing over the required fee.

Spatial magic enveloped him as he stepped through the portal while the world around him dissolved into light before reforming into the neon-lit expanse of Disco City.

Skyscrapers adorned with holographic displays could be spotted overhead, and the streets thrummed with the sound of tech and energy.

Players with tech classes—Hunters, Cyborgs, Forgers, and the like—roamed the area in their futuristic gear.

"Back here again," August muttered to himself as a hint of nostalgia crept into his voice.

His first visit had been brief and helped with his cover as Aleman in real life. Now it was about to help his business once again.

The first shop he entered specialized in tech-enhanced weapons. The NPC vendor who was an android with glowing blue eyes, greeted him in a monotone voice. "Welcome, traveler. How may I assist you?"

"I need something versatile and powerful," August said.

The android gestured to a set of Robotic Arms mounted on the wall. "These are Titan Arms Mk II. Capable of firing concentrated energy blasts. Integrated defense shields included. Price: 2,000 gold."

"Fuck," August cussed a little.

"I can assure you, the price is worth it," the android seemed to have read his expression.

"*sigh* this is gonna leave me wrecked. I'll take five," August went on to purchase them.

Next, he browsed through a shop filled with tech-enhanced gadgets. An NPC in a lab coat pointed out a small device resembling a cube.

"This is the Echo Core, capable of creating holographic decoys to confuse enemies. A must-have for any strategist. 20 silver."

August inspected the device briefly before adding it to his inventory. "I'll take it."

His final stop was at a gear workshop where a grizzled NPC mechanic tinkered with various pieces of equipment. "Got anything for mobility?" August asked.

The mechanic grunted before reaching under his workbench to pull out a hoverboard-like device. "Nimbus Glide. Boosts speed and allows limited flight. Perfect for quick escapes. 20 gold."

August grinned before tossing the mechanic the gold. "I'll take it."

As August stepped out of the workshop, his inventory was packed with weapons, armor, and gadgets... He couldn't help but feel satisfied. His plan was finally coming together.

"Time to extract all of this," he muttered while opening his inventory.

His fingers were coated in a purplish glow as he selected the items he wanted to bring into the real world.

One by one, the items vanished from his inventory, replaced by notifications confirming their successful extraction.

August closed the interface with a look of satisfaction. "Now it's time to log out."

...

The hiss of the pod opening was almost therapeutic as August logged out of Enders Light after days of intense gameplay.

In the real world, only two days had passed, but his body felt the strain of prolonged immersion. He stretched in the process of groaning as his stiff muscles protested the movement.

"Gotta get a better pod," he muttered to himself while shaking his head.

The current model was functional but didn't allow for a very long immersion and after spending so much time inside, it was starting to show its shortcomings.

His gaze fell to the corner of the room where all the items he had extracted from the game lay neatly arranged. The Titan Arms Mk II shimmered faintly and the Fleetfoot Greaves looked just as impressive as they had in the game, and the rest of the gadgets and equipment practically radiated potential.

"Not bad," August said with a smirk before running his hand over the Echo Core. "These are going to come in handy."

Leaving the room, he headed to the small living room of the apartment.

The faint sound of the city outside filtered through the closed windows. On the dining table, a note sat propped up against a plate of covered food.

---

Sophia's Note:

"You're finally out of your cave, huh? Food's in the microwave. Try not to lock yourself away for days next time, gamer boy. Some of us still have normal lives to live. Off to school. Don't burn the apartment down!"

---

August laughed while shaking his head. "She's never going to let me live this down."

He uncovered the plate to find a hearty breakfast—eggs, toast, and bacon. "Thanks, little sis," he murmured even though she wasn't there to hear him.

He quickly warmed the food and sat down to eat, pulling out his phone to scroll through the news.

The headlines were the usual bag of world events and sensational stories, but one in particular caught his attention:

---

'Breaking News: Unknown Vigilante Takes Down Oni members in Valridge City'

*An unnamed superpowered individual has once again disrupted the operations of the mysterious Oni group, this time in Valridge City. Witnesses report a display of extraordinary abilities, though the identity of the vigilante remains unknown. Speculation continues as to whether this individual is part of a larger movement against the Onis…*

---

August sighed before setting his phone down as he chewed thoughtfully. "This world really is turning into a comic book," he muttered. "Superheroes and villains running around like it's a Saturday morning cartoon."

He shook his head. It wasn't his problem.

His only concern was AM Coven and ensuring its success. The rest of the world could deal with their masked heroes and shadowy organizations. As for him, he hoped never to have an encounter with any side ever again.

Once breakfast was done, he cleaned up and headed to the bathroom to freshen up
