I Became a Hive Mind in the Game

Chapter 59 - Special Order

The grade 0 Hive Mind in Pyongyang.
Excluding myself, these creatures, the last remaining force in northern Korean Peninsula, are fundamentally different from the monsters I’ve encountered so far.
Until now, if we understood the enemy’s information and gathered overwhelming forces to completely dominate them, such tactics cannot be used against this enemy, the grade 0 Hive Mind in Pyongyang.
To begin with, there’s no way to gather or create forces that can overwhelm a grade 0 monster.
Grade 0 monsters, classified as top-tier, are in a different league from the previous high-grade monsters.
Their power output is on average 4-5 times that of high-grade monsters, and except for other grade 0 monsters of the same kind, they possess a unique S-rank characteristic that no other monster has.
Of course, in the case of the grade 0 Hive Mind in Pyongyang that I have to face, it has Psychic Lifeform(S) like other grade 0 Hive Minds, but…
The problem is that this Hive Mind in Pyongyang, unlike typical grade 0 Hive Minds with Psychic Lifeform(S), is a fusion of no less than 7 Hive Queens.
This monster, the result of an indescribably strange miracle of mental unification of the same species, honestly, is a type of monster that didn’t exist in the game, so I don’t know what abilities it might have.
But fortunately or not, as someone who knows the stages of bosses in the game, I can roughly estimate its power – to understand this, we first need to know the stages of bosses in the game.
The boss stage refers to the order of boss power assuming the same grade.
It consists of 6 stages in total, of which the weakest is the field boss.
Field bosses, which appear if you just wait in a specific field, are just slightly stronger elite monsters, despite being called bosses.
On the other hand, the dungeon boss, which is one stage above, is a monster that has made a cave or some terrain its lair, a ‘dungeon’. It can be considered the final boss of an event and the ultimate farming target.
Regional bosses are even more powerful monsters than these dungeon bosses. You don’t need to think too hard about it – just think of them as rulers of specific regions like Fire Dragons or Mountain Lords.
Usually, to tackle a regional boss, you need 5 parties of players at the same level (the maximum for one party is 5 people) along with all the NPC mercenaries they can hire to the maximum limit, and even then, there are quite a few cases of defeat against regional bosses.
And then there’s the national boss, which can be said to be the stage I’m currently at.
If a full-scale war with an entire nation is established, it’s usually considered a national boss, so national bosses are often regarded as a kind of background setting.
If they happen to die, it would be impossible to deal with the aftermath, so they’re often placed in inaccessible areas.
And the stage that the Pyongyang Hive Mind is estimated to belong to is the story boss.
Like the 4 Earth Dragons (giant worms) in the 4th edition, it appears as the final boss of a server’s story mode, and by a kind of unspoken rule, it always appears as a grade 0 or higher monster.
The power varies slightly depending on the server, but… in the case of the Korean server, you can think of it as a story where the nation is driven to the brink of annihilation.
Well, there’s also the world boss, which is the final boss of super-large events targeting the entire world (all servers), but this is an exception as it’s non-standard and not part of the main story.
Anyway, the grade 0 Hive Mind in Pyongyang is expected to result in mutual destruction at best even if I mobilize all my forces in a head-on battle, so I need to think a little differently.
No matter how grade 0 it is and has transcendent power, it’s still clearly a Hive Mind, so no matter how strong it is, about half of its power must come from its own army.
According to reconnaissance using Hive Flight, more than half of its nearly 100 million troops are medium-grade, and they’re even enhanced with special psychic powers.
Of course, despite being only grade 1, I have over 10 times its troops due to the vast area I’ve conquered, and the number of high-grade and medium-grade monsters is on par.
But if these forces clash, even if we win, it’s a foregone conclusion that our losses would be devastating, so I decided to fine-tune the existing forces and create a new branch that might not be a decisive blow, but could efficiently consume the enemy’s strength.
That is, a special force that can wear down the enemy through efficient combat and, if necessary, strike at the enemy’s heart.
I decided to use my masterpiece, the human-type monster Hive Rider, as the base force.
I adjusted their characteristics and skills appropriately as they were raised as cavalry, and additionally, I implanted various artificial organs through surgery.
Synthetic Muscle Fibers(A) implanted under the skin by weaving new materials developed by Seonggwang to enhance physical abilities, Double Skeletal Structure(B) to increase body size, Nanomachine Coated Skin(B) hardened to increase skin durability.
There’s also a Second Heart(A) that circulates regenerative substances through blood vessels to maintain combat power, Life Liver(B) that produces substances to detoxify various poisons and contaminants, and Land Gills(B) that supply oxygen even without breathing.
Universal Eyes(B) that can see things that can’t normally be seen like infrared or psychic energy, Hyper Sense(B) that widens the perception range, and Nutrient Storage(B) that can store large amounts of calories.
As a result of implanting these 9 bio-organs, I finally created a monster that surpasses grade 4.

The appearance of this monster, classified as Human-Ein type, was better than the Hive Rider it was based on.
While the face is alien due to the different shape of the nose and mouth, it’s somewhat tolerable, and the skin is uniformly black without severely distorted parts.
In addition, the Special Order is generally similar to Hive Rider with a height of about 3.5 meters, but there’s something different about it, which is the form of its equipment.
Unlike Hive Rider, which uses armor and weapons close to medieval fantasy and firearms clearly belonging to monsters, this Special Force’s equipment has an overall SF-like yet realistic feel.
This difference in equipment form is not just a matter of shape. In fact, the weapons they use are none other than Nano-Tech company’s weapons.
I directly used weapons that are actually being sold but have already been replaced by newer models, which is for some camouflage operations.
Anyway, I created a total of 1,000 of these Special Orders, and divided them into 100 teams of 10 each.
This was to form a kind of platoon for more flexible command.
Each team of 10 has their own roles, and additional characteristics or skills were given according to these roles.
One acts as a kind of intermediate commander like a lieutenant, and about 4 pour fire on the enemy with powerful rapid-fire weapons like machine guns or vulcans.
In addition, 2 use weapons classified as heavy even by giant standards, like rocket launchers or plasma cannons, and 2 use manifestation-type psychic and enhancement-type psychic to support allies.
And finally, the last one performs the most important role, using a special giant armor called a Teleport Pod to provide fire support, form psychic shields, and greatly increase the range of the teleport psychic that they can all use.
This special force was created to teleport right up to the bio-facilities, destroy them, and escape, so the longer the teleport range, the better.
Also, the equipment and tactics of these creatures are thoroughly borrowed from humans, specifically Nano-Tech company’s hunters.
This is not just for efficiency, but also to achieve a slightly larger goal.
That is, a kind of bluffing towards human society.
