Humans: The Worst Kind Of Demon

"Don't get cocky just because you accidentally summoned a Human, pleb."

That made me twitch a little in a quick rush of anger, as I saw this asshole boy stand in front of Mira's desk, looking down at her menacingly. 

"Leave me alone."

Still somewhat weakened, Mira's retort wasn't sharp enough.

"So you admit it was just an accident, eh? And I don't buy this 'Humans are the worst demon of them all' Bull's Bollocks at all now. Your Human Demon looked lame"

Two other boys standing next to the bullying boy sniggered. 

How cliched can they get? A school bully with ugly sidekicks whose names don't even get mentioned?

I remained under the invisible spell as was instructed by the teacher to avoid disruption to classes, but I stood next to Mira and felt every bit of the insult coming her way. 

Not that I could do much about it though. This was a boy who summoned a tiger. 

And I really didn't want to fight a tiger. 

"Pfft, my Human Demon is strong. You summoned some cute-looking furry monster, so just shut up and leave me alone"

Mira finally took the bait.

"Oh? I tested my monster out yesterday, you'd wet yourself in fear if you saw how he can rip things apart"

"So what? My demon can use EXPLOSIVE MAGIC"

"Bollocks. Monsters cannot use explosive magic"

"Your furry kitty can't. MY Human can. He's no ordinary monster, he's a legendary demon"

'Whoa-, hold your horses, Mira!', I told Mira, and as I was under the invisible spell cast by her, only she could hear me. 

The bully boy narrowed his eyes, and a smirk appeared slowly around the corner of his lips. 

"Prove it"

Shit.

"I got nothing to prove to you. You may have the honor of pitting your pathetic fur ball against my Human if you are unfortunate enough to get matched with me"

"Ah, back paddling now with a tail between her legs - as expected of a pleb from a shit clan that nobody's ever heard of", the boy sniggered and his sidekicks laughed together.

I could almost hear something snap in Mira's mind. 

"Apologize", Mira rose from her seat and commanded.

"Excuse me?", the boy was all smiles now. He knew he had Mira on the hook now. 

'Come on, Mira. Don't fall for such an obvious provocation', I tried to dissuade her.

'Shut up. I won't let anybody disrespect my clan'

'It's just school kids messing about. We had those in my world too. Don't take things so seriously. The one who loses his cool first is the loser in these games.'

'My clan is not up for any games'

"Apologize for what you've just said. You've insulted my entire clan"

The side kicks whistled at the same time - cringe. 

"Make me", the boy continued to goad Mira. 

"Your fur ball against my Human - lunchtime. On the training ground. Are you scared now?"

'WHOOOOAAA! NO MIRA! I don't wanna fight a frigging TIGER!'

This was going to be real bad. 

'Just use that explosion thing, fool. I'm sure it will explode this idiot's fur ball to pieces'

Well, I knew it would. She was right. But there was no way I was going to throw a hand grenade at a tiger. First of all, it was more likely that I would get ripped apart as soon as the fight started before I even got a chance to summon the grenade, and secondly, even if I could, I didn't want to kill an animal. That just didn't sit right with me. 

'I don't want to do it, Mira'

"Deal", the bully who finally got his way spoke and knocked on Mira's desk once. 

"Deal", Mira did the same gesture. 

'What the hell was that?', I inquired. 

'It means we have a deal. There is no backing off from it now.'

'What happens if you don't follow through?'

'I probably get stoned to death by everyone here. Breaking an agreed deal like this is considered one of the scummiest things a person can do.'

'God damn it! I told you I don't want to fight!'

'That's the spirit. You are evil enough to curse the divine beings. I'm sure you can handle a fur ball'

I wanted to protest further, but there was no backing off now. 

"Hey, you wanna up the stake?", the bully boy was really pushing it now.

"What can you offer?", Mira asked. 

"Apology, as you wanted"

"And what do you want?"

"Wear a sign around your neck saying you are just a nobody from a shit clan for the whole day"

'Mira-, DON'T-'

"Deal", Mira was quick to take up the offer and knocked on her desk.

"Deal", and the boy followed. 

"See you at lunch time then, Stinky Snail", with that, the boy went back to his seat, laughing all the way with his sidekicks. 

'Mira, this is a BIG mistake'

'You heard the deal. I can't lose this battle.'

'Look, I gotta be honest with you. I can't fight that creature you just dismiss as a fur ball. It's a frigging TIGER. It's one of the fiercest predators in my world'

'But Humans are the worst demon, and you are a human. Show them. I give you the permission to use whatever means necessary. You can obliterate that fur ball in any way you wish'

There was no point trying to convince her anymore, I knew deep down. 

They made a deal, and even in my world, backing out of a deal like this at a school would get you laughed at and ridiculed for the rest of the year. This boy was particularly annoying but so far it didn't look like Mira was being bullied badly at school or anything. But if she backed off or lost now, she would be bullied by everyone else too for sure. We may be from different worlds, but kids are kids. 

And I know how horrible school life can be. 

'Fine. I will figure something out.'

'Good. I'm counting on you.'
