Chapter 359: A Short Journey.
The Tarot Club meeting ended with everyone feeling afraid to leave the Sefirah Castle since they didn't want to be suddenly exposed and laid bare to Dumbledore for him ti dissect and examine.
They remained silent till they left which made Loki happy since Sirius and Fleur seemed to have forgotten about asking for a reward.
Loki left the Tarot Club himself and fell asleep for a while before he woke up with a fresh face and pulled out his pocket watch which was shimmering with a bright silky orange, the colour of the morning sun.
It was six am.
Loki then looked at the Disk of Wishes lying on the table in front of him. The light at its centre was bright green, indicating Loki could finally use it now that it was fully charged.
'Can I make the wish?'
Loki looked at the golden disk and felt a little unsure of himself.
'Should I wish for something more practical like the cure for cancer or something?'
'That would count as a miracle too wouldn't it?'
Having spent nearly eighty days filling the entire energy of the disk, Loki was a little conscious about how he would use it.
'Am I even ready for this?'
'What if I go back in time and realise that only feral out of control or mad creatures exist around me?'
'I doubt the human's condition was any better in the previous epochs.'
'Especially if it was anything like the actual LOTM world where they were enslaved by the other races…'
'But that might be the only way for me to obtain any Beyonder Characteristics 'safely' since my pathway wouldn't be hidden and I could attack those maddened creatures to gain Beyonder Characteristics to proceed further.'
Loki looked at the time in his pocket watch and found-
'Only a minute passed? The hell…I feel like I've been here for over an hour already debating with myself about the pros and cons of using this thing!'
'Ugh! Fine…let's just get this over with.'
'More time would allow me to prepare the best for what's to come.'
'I'm sure I can figure things along as I go back into the past.'
Holding the Disk of Wishes Loki took a deep breath to calm himself and poured his spirituality into it.
The Disk of Wishes started to light up as it consumed his spirituality. Its central green glow slowly spread not only to the entire disk but also to Loki who was holding the disk.
Loki noticed the changes but quickly pushed them to the back of his mind and spoke his wish out loud.
"I wish to be able to go back in time to before the founders of Hogwarts set up the methods and rationalities of magic."
Loki had made his wish vague on purpose since he didn't know the exact time he had travelled back in time anyway other than the fact that he probably had a lot to do with raising the founders and helping them along in their Beyonder journey.
He wanted to rely on fate to be his guide and send him to the time it deemed him most appropriate to be in.
The Disk of Wishes started to *hum* as Loki's grip on it tightened. Feeling a little nervous Loki shifted his weight on his feet until he felt more comfortable.
The warmth of the green glow seemed to slip beyond the centre of the Disk Of Wishes as it blanketed Loki like a large cloth falling over both him and the disk itself, binding them together with a deep green hue.
The green aura around Loki and the Disk of Wishes gradually brightened before Loki saw it visibly rippling. The warm sensation that had wrapped around him was slowly receding and within moments, the green aura that Loki was looking at expectantly, faded.
Loki looked at the disk, and then around himself. After feeling nothing different about his surroundings, Loki quickly pulled open his pocket watch.
Its borders shimmered the same bright silky orange and the time was the same.
It was six o' one.
'...not even a minute has passed since then?'
Loki was sure that the watch would show him the appropriate time because it was showing time by using a potion which would keep track of the position of the sun in the sky, hence its current orangish hue.
'Did I just luckily go to the exact same time in the past or something?'
Loki's growing confusion caused him to examine the Disk of Wishes but he was shocked when he looked at it.
The glow in its centre hadn't changed and was still a bright green.
'It should've used up its power and turned red like before shouldn't it have?' Loki asked himself.
Not understanding what had gone wrong, Loki tried to wish for the same thing once again. He poured his spirituality into the disk and made his wish quickly.
"I wish to be able to go back in time to before the founders of Hogwarts set up the methods and rationalities of magic."
The result was the same.
The green glow of the disk encompassed Loki, it felt comforting and wrapped around him like a warm blanket on a cold day.
But soon the green glow retreated back into the disk leaving no changes that Loki could spot easily even with his heightened vision.
It all felt a little underwhelming.
"This thing…is it a fake?"
"....no that demon did use it to deflect Laura's attacks…then is it malfunctioning?"
"Why?"
"Or can it just not fulfil my wish because it is incapable?"
Loki frowned since he didn't like what was happening.
"How do I go back in time then?"
"By using multiple time turners?"
"How would that work? I steal them from the Unspeakables?"
"I doubt I'd get very far with that…especially never if someone like Laura is guarding the entrance to the place."
"Then there must be some other way I travelled back in time…"
"I bribed Laura?"
As Loki thought about the various ways he could've bribed Laura he remembered the task she had assigned to him.
'Now that I think about it, didn't she task me with finding her husband?'
'I forgot about it because I was thinking about the Ravenclaw diadem then, but why don't I do that? Then I can bargain with her for access to the time turners?'
Loki quickly entered the Sefirah Castle and once within it, he used cogitation to fall asleep after murmuring the words-
"The location of Laura Drake's husband, Nathan Drake."
-seven times.
Loki's vision soon changed and almost instantly he found himself in a cold dark place.
The place was so dark that Loki could feel nothing. It felt like he was staring into an abyss.
'Anti-divinati-'
Before Loki could control his thoughts he found himself face to face with a desolate land, one which was drawing in the crimson light of the moon.
The world looked much like the real one, except this one was composed of ruins. There were tall buildings but they were ruined. There were people walking through them but they were skeletons. Yet even in this darkness, the skeletons looked like they were afraid of something.
Loki didn't have to even look around to find out what had terrified the skeletons.
Passing through every door, every window and every road was a thick branch that looked like it was full of life, yet no life approached it.
The skeletons that accidentally stepped on them under the dim crimson light of the moon, ceased to exist. Being frozen into wooden sculptures that only extended the tree's reach once again.
While the skeletons walked, Loki's vision followed one in particular who was even more afraid of the tree than the other skeletons.
He was holding a strange book that glimmered dangerously and felt quite powerful.
'Is that him?' Loki wondered.
But before he could stay in his visit for longer, Loki found the crimson light of the moon growing deeper and darker.
Not one to wait on occasion, Loki immediately cancelled his dream divination and woke back up in the Sefirah Castle.
'So he's in the Abyss and is using some sort of artifact while trying to keep himself safe from 'Her'?' Loki made an educated guess from the vision he'd just seen.
'Probably one hell of an artifact if its keeping him safe from 'Her'.'
'....and I know only one book in LOTM that might even be able to try doing something like that.'
'Should I tell Laura about it?'
'It would raise a lot of questions if I directly told her about it and tried to dodge questions about how I know about all this…'
'But I could just deny her question and keep it a secret…'
'The trouble is how long can she wait?'
'Wouldn't she just want to rush over to the Abyss and get her husband?'
'Would she even be able to come back alive from that?'
Loki thought about various questions for a while, thinking about how he could gain Laura's favour and also do something about the situation so that he could gain access to the Time Turners in the Ministry of Magic.
'I could give her a safer method that depends on me instead...'
'Something that will make her try and support me to grow stronger as I move through the sequences…'
'But it might reveal my pathway to her.'
'I might be able to swindle her…but it's probably too dangerous.'
Loki kept frowning, deep in thought.
