HP - Shadow Monarch!

Chapter 132: Chapter 130 - Beginning the Hunt for Wizards in the Wizarding World 04.

[Chapter Size: 2000 Words.]

Third Person POV

London.

...

...

Everything seemed ordinary in the black market as people discussed some of the events of the day.

"Who did those idiots from Kevin's group grab today, and why?" someone asked from behind their skull mask.

"No one really knows... Nobody could identify who the kidnapped person was..." another said.

"How strange. And then that body shows up at the Ministry... I wonder how they're dealing with it..." someone else sneered.

"The Ministry can go to hell... but the person was wearing the Death Pendant... so they were a dark wizard. It could even have been one of Kevan's group. It's a shame they showed up headless, so we can't identify them... And the Ministry took their wand to secretly identify who it was..." a third person remarked.

The discussion went on for a while as they tried to piece together the gossip, unaware of what was happening elsewhere in England at that very moment.

But their conversation was suddenly interrupted.

"Ahhh!!!"

A scream echoed from one of the alleys in the black market, near where the group was gathered. The people there turned toward the sound, startled, wondering what had happened.

"What's that?" someone murmured before a green flash lit up the alley. A shadow could be seen losing its head outside the alley in the blink of an eye as the flash ended.

They all swallowed hard, staring at the now-silent alley, until the sound of footsteps broke the stillness. A shadow emerged at the alley's end, and as the figure stepped out, cloaked and dressed entirely in black, their face was impossible to see due to some form of distortion magic, even though they wore no mask.

"Who is that?" one of them asked, stunned, instinctively reaching for their wand.

"You don't need to know." The distorted voice echoed as the figure approached, continuing, "I'm looking for Death Eaters and dark wizards." The figure spoke calmly, making the men behind the masks frown.

"What do you mean by that? Who are you?" one of them exclaimed, unsure of what to do.

"I'm killing them. I need to know where to find them. How about you tell me?" Snape's voice, distorted though it was, still carried an unmistakable tone of confidence.

One of the group quickly pointed his wand at Snape, glaring at him with fury. Snape noticed the gleam of a pendant on his neck—exactly what he was looking for.

The black market was a web of alliances among dark wizards and Death Eaters, but only the most loyal to the Dark Lord bore the Dark Mark on their bodies, serving as his primary soldiers. They held prominent positions in powerful families or the magical world of England. Those Snape considered mere cannon fodder—wizards who worked for the families as guards, hunters, and other tasks, the lackeys of Voldemort's lackeys—wore a skull-hand pendant for identification.

That was what he sought. Upon spotting the pendant on the man's neck, Snape moved in a flash. Before anyone could react, the man's head was severed, rolling into the middle of the street. He hadn't even managed to cast the spell he intended against Snape.

Blood spilled, and those nearby froze for a moment before shouting in alarm.

"AHHH!!"

"He killed him!"

"Who are you? What are you doing?"

Even those who weren't dark wizards drew their wands. After all, the man was committing murder openly in the black market, now wielding a sword slick with blood. While death wasn't uncommon here, such brazenness was taboo.

"I'm here for the Death Eaters and their lackeys. Stay out of this unless you're one of them." He spoke calmly.

"He was my cousin, you bastard!" one man shouted angrily, quickly launching an attack toward the figure.

The spell hit only empty air as the figure vanished. When he reappeared, the aggressor barely had time to react before his neck was seized, and he was lifted into the air as the others backed away.

"Give me that," Snape said, taking the wand while leaving the man suspended in the air.

"You..." The man was now terrified as he watched his wand being broken in half by the figure before him. Desperately, he moved his hands toward his collar, searching for the pendant.

"You don't seem to be one of them, so you'd better not get involved in this." Snape's voice was cold as he threw the man against the wall on the other side of the street. The man flew like a rag doll, hitting the wall before collapsing unconscious.

A woman nearby began screaming as other wizards advanced with their wands drawn. Snape spotted dark wizards approaching, their pendants now openly displayed on the outside of their clothing as if proud to show them off. As soon as they saw him, they started attacking. Snape vanished and reappeared elsewhere, always one step ahead, returning to attack them and turning the street into a bloodbath.

He paid little attention to the common wizards who also tried to attack him, expertly teleporting between them. The battle, accompanied by bursts of magic, drew the attention of more people, who began gathering in the streets. It was a massacre. More and more wizards fell as Snape identified those with the pendants.

"You..." one man murmured before his vision went dark. Moments later, his body fell lifeless to the ground.

Screams erupted, and some began fleeing immediately, panic spreading through the black market.

Meanwhile, in the Norton family estate, Ministry personnel were examining the scene, unaware of the ongoing massacre in the black market.

As Moody surveyed the bodies with his magical eye, the Minister stood beside him, looking exhausted.

"I can see traces of magic, even identify the magical signatures... but with a killer using a sword... it's impossible for me..." Moody muttered.

"So, the same killer moved from there to here? Is there any connection between those men and this place? Could it have been retaliation..." the Minister speculated. Moody seemed thoughtful, glancing at the bodies before him. Other high-ranking Ministry officials were arriving, summoned by yet another emergency involving this pureblood family.

"I don't think so. Many of those people were more connected to the Nott and Rosier families," Moody replied. "They operated in areas close to both families and were protected by them... We never had concrete evidence, so we couldn't incriminate them before."

"But even so, we have another problem on our hands now... This killer is getting worse..." the Minister murmured with evident displeasure.

They approached a woman who was still trembling after the attack and had just regained consciousness. She seemed disoriented, unable to recall exactly what had happened. None of those present recognized the lightning-like spell used against her; there were no records of anything similar, leaving them clueless about what had struck her.

"How is she?" the Minister asked.

Beside the woman stood her son, his expression grim. He had never imagined waking up to find the house filled with corpses, including his father's guards—and his father himself, a man notorious for torturing others, now brutally tortured and killed. For the boy, it was unimaginable that anyone would dare to face a Death Eater, except perhaps the same individual who had reportedly massacred dark wizards in Hogsmeade.

"Her condition is critical..." one of the Ministry officials was examining the woman.

"Can you provide us with any more details about who invaded the estate?" the Minister of Magic asked, addressing the woman directly despite a warning from her staff.

"I... No!" The woman seemed to be struggling. "I only woke up to an explosion of magic. I saw my husband being thrown across the hall. That... thing was in the room. I tried to fight back, but it struck me. I've explained this several times already!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling with fear.

"What kind of magic was used on her?" the Minister asked the Aurors nearby. They shook their heads in confusion.

"We don't know. It seems her nervous system is completely disrupted. We can't identify what caused it," they admitted, unaware that it was an electrical discharge.

"And now? What else could possibly happen tonight? At this rate, more Aurors will show up saying there are even more murders happening," murmured Jenkins, exhausted.

As if it were a bad omen, apparitions began appearing in the middle of the property at that very moment. Other Aurors hurried toward the Minister, their expressions urgent.

"Tell me what's happening now!" the Minister demanded, wasting no time, sensing that yet another crisis was about to land in her lap.

"Minister Jenkins, we received a report. There's a war happening right now in an alley in the black market. Someone is killing people with a sword, causing a massacre!" one of the Aurors reported gravely.

"What?! How many Aurors were dispatched?!" she demanded.

"None. We were afraid and came to request help..." the man admitted, knowing full well that nobody wanted to face a killer cutting down dark wizards.

The Minister clenched her fists tightly but let it slide, despite thinking them cowardly. "Quickly! We're going there now!" she ordered without hesitation.

Meanwhile, only a few members of the Ministry remained behind to handle the Norton family and transport the woman to St. Mungo's Hospital. The others quickly made their way to London.

But it was too late. By the time they arrived, the damage had already been done. Most of the wizards had fled as soon as the large-scale killings began. Even so, the streets were still littered with bodies, leaving the area eerily empty and terrifying.

"Search for him immediately!" the Minister ordered, frustrated. She couldn't fathom how the magical community would react to this. A lunatic was killing wizards with a sword—something no one had anticipated.

Meanwhile, Snape used an untraceable, clandestine Floo network fireplace and returned to his home on the English coast. He was satisfied to finally be back after completing everything he had set out to do that night.

"Well, I think I'll get some rest..." he murmured, stretching lazily after a hunt that had taken him across various parts of the country. He knew chaos was brewing, set to unfold before sunrise. Who would react first? The pure-blood families? The Dark Lord? The Ministry? Or the powerful wizards still lurking in the shadows?

Snape sighed as he lay down to sleep. Unlike him, the Aurors and Ministry officials would remain awake all night. Even those who had finished their shifts were immediately called back in to handle the night's events, which had been declared a high-level emergency. The entire Ministry of Magic was mobilized, desperately trying to identify the person responsible for attacks in four different locations.

Reporters were also dispatched to the attack sites as the Ministry tried to contain the situation. But it was impossible to stop the flow of information completely. Soon, photos of bodies and witness accounts began circulating. The Minister of Magic faced relentless questioning, forced to endure unyielding pressure for answers. This continued for the next two hours before dawn.

Many families were already aware of what had happened, either through direct contact or from wizards who had fled the black market and gathered to discuss the events. Others only learned of it early in the morning when the news began spreading. The shock was immense, especially among those who supported pure-blood ideology. The idea of someone openly massacring their kind in a single night terrified everyone.

It was known that the Dark Lord would not stand idly by after this. Newspapers began circulating, and even Muggle-borns with ties to the magical world were learning of the events through these reports. The content in the pages horrified everyone. The magical world of England had been turned upside down.
