High School Dxd: Word of Creation

Chapter 19: Chapter 18 - Rescue Mission, Begin!

Hiyama's house, Kuoh town –

POV: Hiyama Oreki –

Waking up in the morning, I immediately started getting prepared. I had several pieces of gear created for Raynare, Kala, and me. Mittelt and Shiori could make their gear while we were away.

Crafted from extremely durable fibers sourced from the Underworld, it was designed to mirror a traditional priest's cassock. Tailored to fit my form, the long black coat extends just below the knees, intricate gold lining in the shape of flames traced down the edges of the coat's collar, cuffs, and front seam. Beneath the cassock were black tactical pants of the same material, and black combat boots.

It was entirely Kalawarner's idea, when I asked Raynare to fill the lab out with various machines and devices, she suggested making our own gear. So, I placed her in charge of getting it up and running, but I think she went a little overboard. It was on her own initiative that she had me create some potent wine with the Voice to sell in the Underworld, she ended up using the money to buy the materials for the equipment.

Kala's and Raynare's equipment were very different, in that they wore actual armor. They were covered head to toe in black form-fitting armor with silver lining in the shape of flames. The helmets covered their entire head, making it seem they had no flesh at all.

I was kind of jealous, they looked so badass…

Once we were all geared the household waited for the arrival of Kiba, it was still early in the morning, so I wasn't expecting him to show immediately. To my surprise he showed up not too long after we were completely done gearing up, he ringed the outer gate.

After he got inside, we all sat down in the primary living room, "So, are you prepared Kiba?" Kiba nodded in response to my question, I guess he is not much of a talker.

I turned to Shiori and Mittelt, "Alright, you guys will hold the fort while we get Tosca. Remember, if anything happens go to Rias first. She is the closest ally we've got right now, so her relationship with Lucifer should keep you safe." At that Mittelt nodded, but Shiori seemed displeased.

"I don't know why you won't take me with you, brother. I'm the strongest in this room other than you." I knew she didn't like the idea of being left behind, but I needed her out of the danger zone so I could worry about the mission. It's not that I don't care about Raynare or Kala, it's just that I care about Shiori more. If I brought her along, I would only get distracted trying to look out for her more than I already would for Raynare and Kala.

"You know I can't do that. I want you to be safe more than anything, and I know that's not what you want to hear but it's true."

"If I'm not safe with you, then there isn't a safe place at all." She stood up as she said that. It warms my heart that she thinks that, but it isn't true.

"My decision is final." I said with authority. She looked extremely displeased, but no more than she had at the beginning. "We won't be gone for long, just continue your training while we are away."

With everything in order, I signal Raynare to begin the teleportation process. A red magic circle appeared beneath me, Kiba, Kala, and Raynare as we teleported away.

The Alps, Northern Italy –

Appearing in the sky above a mountainous region in northern Italy, everyone immediately scrambles to fly. The fallen and Kiba spread their wings, while I chant "Fly."

It was in the middle of the night as the moon hung in full form above us. The forested mountains were thick and chilly, giving way to a small clearing in which buildings could be seen. The facility seemed to have magic defenses surrounding them to hide it from mundane eyes, but that was trivial for us to see through.

Feeling the pensiveness of Kiba I decide to get things going, "Kiba, I have already informed Raynare and Kalawarner of my plan, so I'll repeat it once to you. I am going to distract and destroy much of the facility to give you the ability to get in the base. Follow Raynare's orders, she is your superior for this mission." I form a black cloak with the Voice and toss it to him. "Use this to hide your identity, wouldn't want to trace back to your master."

He donned the cloak before summoning a sword. After that I address all of them, "Keep casualties to a minimum, and approach from the north side. I will be doing my work in the south. Now, go." With that they all dove down into the forest to avoid detection as they moved to the north side.

I was interested in seeing how this would go, I had never done anything to this scale before. I knew I had the energy reserves to do it, since they were high-class, but it was still a bit strange. To think, a month ago, I was a perfectly normal human in another world while today I am about to create a biblical-level storm.

After I waited a while, Raynare sent me a signal through communication magic. Preparing myself I cast the spells to create multiple mouth's. I made two additional mouths on each hand and devoted a partition for each and my regular one. I reserved the final partition to observe my surroundings. I began to speak with Logos Reverie, through my normal mouth, while I kept my hands prepared to direct the storm and protect me.

The air around me trembled as if the world itself held its breath. The words of creation spilled from my lips, each one heavier than the last, crackling with divine power. The sky darkened, clouds swirling and twisting like living shadows, coiling tighter with every syllable I spoke. Thunder growled in the distance, rolling closer until it roared above me, shaking the earth beneath my feet. The wind screamed, tearing through the trees, and lightning split the sky, striking down in blinding fury.

Prepared now to begin the direction of the storm, I raised my hands to the Heavens as they too began to speak.

The storm surged forward at my command, crashing down upon the facility like the wrath of heaven made manifest. The outer concrete walls, thick and unyielding, cracked and splintered under the relentless barrage of wind and lightning, chunks of stone torn free and cast into the night. The metal gates shuddered violently, their reinforced frames groaning before being ripped from their hinges and hurled across the courtyard.

Guards scrambled to respond; their shouts lost beneath the deafening roar of the tempest. Sacred barriers flickered to life, etched with divine symbols meant to repel the supernatural, but they fractured under the weight of my storm, crumbling into shards of golden light. Watchtowers collapsed as the winds howled, their reinforced steel frames bending and snapping as though they were made of brittle twigs. The main structure—a cathedral-like building—stood defiant, but cracks spread across its surface, stained glass windows shattering and raining down.

I could feel my Magic power draining extraordinarily quickly as the process continued. The storm swept through the compound, tearing apart laboratories and sealed chambers, leaving behind little more than scattered debris and panicking workers.

POV: Kiba Yuuto –

After we made our way to the north side and the fallen signaled Hiyama, we didn't need to wait very long before it began.

The wind howled, shrieking across the facility grounds as lightning split the sky with blinding fury. I stood at the northern edge, cloaked in the shadows beside Raynare and Kalawarner, but even the darkness offered little comfort under the weight of what was unfolding. Hiyama floated high above the southern perimeter, his silhouette barely visible against the swirling clouds when lightning struck. From him, the storm poured forth like a vengeful torrent, battering the compound with relentless force.

I could hardly breathe. The sheer power radiating from him distorted the air, crackling with raw energy that sent shivers down my spine. I had heard tales of devils and angels capable of great feats of power, but this…

Is this the power of a god?

The winds tore through the outer courtyard, ripping chunks of concrete from the walls, while lightning hammered the metal gate until it buckled inward like paper.

"We move now," Raynare hissed, her voice cutting through the roar of the storm. I gave a sharp nod, lowering my head to shield my eyes from the rain as we advanced.

The three of us darted through the forest, the storm made concealment meaningless as we ran straight to the main gate. By the time we reached the breached outer gate, the once-imposing structure lay in shambles. Twisted metal hung from its hinges, sparks dancing along the edges where lightning had carved scars into the steel.

Flashes of light illuminated the wreckage around us—torn barbed wire, splintered towers, and the crumpled forms of still living guards unlucky enough to have been caught in the first strike. The defensive wards around the facility flickered erratically, failing one by one beneath the onslaught.

I gritted my teeth as a gust slammed into me, nearly forcing me to my knees. Kalawarner caught my arm, steadying me with a sharp glare. "Stay close," she said, voice tight.

The courtyard beyond was a battlefield of debris, the storm grinding the remains of walls and defensive barriers into dust. We pushed forward, cutting across the open yard as thunder rumbled overhead. A guard, barely visible through the rain, staggered toward us out of a nearby building. Other workers that are scattered around ran like headless chickens in any direction they could.

Seeing the guard had a weapon Raynare prepares to dispatch the guard, but he screams out, "The Wrath of God is upon us for our sins, RUN!" Without any further words he dropped his weapon and joined the other workers running like hell in any direction that was 'away.'

The entrance to the main building loomed ahead, its heavy wooden doors cracked and leaning to one side. I felt the pressure of Holy Power radiate from the storm as we stepped closer, the power hanging in the air so thick it seemed to press down on my shoulders. I glanced southward once more, toward the storm's heart where Hiyama remained suspended like some oppressive deity the thundering heavens. Sirzechs would need to know about this…

I swallowed hard and stepped through the ruined doors, into the dim corridors of the facility.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walking into the main building I was immediately overwhelmed. Tears came to my eyes as we made our way through the cathedral. The church pews and alter remained unchanged since I was here.

I could see ghosts, fragments of my past self-sitting in those very pews. I was so eager to fight for God, if only we knew…

That damn Galilei…

We trusted him but when we needed him most, he betrayed us. If I ever find him, I swear I will destroy him….

Enough about vengeance, Tosca is somewhere in this facility, and I need to focus.

We ran through the main room and into the side door leading to a place that was all too familiar. There were guards and other workers, but they were easily knocked unconscious. We swept in a systematic manner, eventually relying on my memory of the facility to get through it. It appears that Hiyama's distraction was extremely effective, everyone had cleared out.

We eventually reached the basement, with Raynare cutting the metal door into pieces. We ran inside to find a floating orb, with an unchanged Tosca floating inside.

"Tosca!" I ran up to the orb, banging on it.

"Enough!" Raynare shouted. "You heard my master, you can't get her out. We need to get out of here." Figuring she was right, I stepped back so Kalawarner could step forward. She formed chains of light and wrapped them around the orb.

She then spoke, "We can't teleport out immediately due to the anti-teleportation runes, we need to get away from the compound quickly."

We then began taking Tosca as fast as we could out of the facility. On the way I had started thinking about how easy this was, there were practically no defenses. I understand the Holy Sword Project would have been relocated, but it was still a facility with high-level research.

Choosing to keep it in mind, we continued to make our way out of the building.
