Hideout in Another World: I Tried Building a Secret Base in the Middle of Nowhere

Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Vacation

Chapter 92: Vacation

Today is a day off.

Once in a while, I want to relax with everyone from the Bonus Company.

Besides, despite raising the prices, the consumption of coffee and chocolate is more intense than I thought.

So, I decided to take a day off after running the stall for two days.

Of course, Master Oscar and the regular customers protested as if in a scream.

The fact that even Ulara was mixed up in it somehow makes me wonder if my stall has really become accustomed to Savoia…?

However, this is already the third vacation day today.

Hajiramu and the others haven’t returned yet.

I feel somewhat anxious, but I can’t think of anything I can do about it right now.

By the way, on vacation days, Gisella and Mil started living together in the hideout.

I felt a bit too mischievous for kidnapping Mil back with such enthusiasm, but I think it turned out well in the end.

On the way back, Mil, who seemed sulky and angry, was told by Zamza that he was happy to see her again after a long time with a smile, and since then, she had become much more obedient.

By the time dinner was served, Elizabeth leaned against me and hugged Kohaku, enjoying Zamza’s cooking with a gentle smile.

Before going to bed, Mil seemed somewhat embarrassed and thanked me for forcibly bringing her to the hideout.

It seems she realized that she had been too tense without even realizing it herself.

She also accepted the proposal for a vacation sincerely.

“Hey, Bonus. Is this part okay like this?”

“Yeah, maybe this format will add strength from a different direction…”

And now, for some reason, we’re by the lake, spreading out paper where we used to fish with Kuro, designing metal fittings for a wheelbarrow with Gisella.

We’ve had to transport a lot of things, including a large amount of sugarcane, for a long time, so I wanted to somehow streamline the transportation method.

Besides, a wheelbarrow might come in handy when helping with the village’s reconstruction in the future.

With that in mind, I consulted Gisella.

The result is the current situation, but there have been some miscalculations.

One was that unexpectedly, Gisella had no knowledge of wheels at all.

In Savoia, it seems that transportation using wheels is not widely used.

Come to think of it, Menas and the others were also moving directly on camels.

In other regions, carts and such seem to be commonly used, but using carts around here might be inefficient due to terrain and material reasons.

The other miscalculation was that Gisella got too excited about this idea.

Although transportation using wheels is not very common in Savoia, a wheelbarrow should be reasonably useful.

Thinking so, I decided to design a wheelbarrow from scratch with Gisella.

Since neither of us had the underlying knowledge, we started by brainstorming ideas, reconciling opinions, and drawing simple diagrams.

Surprisingly, Gisella is also logical in her thinking, so the design progressed smoothly and interestingly.

However, as she progressed with the design, she became more and more engrossed and excited… and before I knew it, she had gotten so close that our faces were almost touching.

She usually emits unnecessary charm, but for me, rather than that, when she’s concentrating and facing things seriously like now, it’s much more attractive and sexy, just like when doing blacksmithing work.

And maybe because we’re so close, she even smells nice somehow.

Thanks to that, even though we were only halfway through the design, I couldn’t concentrate at all…

“G-Gisella, aren’t you a bit too close?”

“Huh? But… it’s so fun…”

“Well, certainly, Gisella, you’re good at designing this kind of thing. It would be more productive if we could easily get better stationery, though.”

“I’ve never seen such thin and uniform paper, and that pencil… it’s amazing.”

While saying that, Gisella gently touches the surface of the paper and the sketches drawn with a pencil with the pad of her finger.

The paper and ink are there, but they are quite high-quality items.

The items available in Savoia may be fine if it’s just about the price, but it seems that the quality of what’s circulating there isn’t very good.

I once got a whole set of stationery and tried it out, but it was somehow difficult to use.

The paper had noticeable fibers, and the pen just kept snagging on it.

I tried using something like a reed pen, which seems to be relatively cheap and mainstream, but it wasn’t very convenient for drawing patterns, and such.

I’m not saying I want something as fancy as a pencil or a fountain pen, but at least something like chalk would be nice…

“Until now, I’ve never had the chance to think about the shape and mechanism of things with someone else like this, but it’s really interesting… It feels kind of nice. …Being with Bonus is fun after all.”

“I’m glad you say that, but I wonder how it really is. It feels like Gisella just hasn’t had the opportunity until now… Well, it’s a good stopping point, and let’s leave the design here for now and continue it next time.”

“Gyaugyau! Gyaugyaaugyau!”

“Oh! Mine’s tangled.”

“It looks like we’re still catching fish today… I wonder where these fish around here come from…”

“Let’s have Mil-chan cook them deliciously for us… It’s dinner time.”

By the way, here are Kuro, Shiro, Elizabeth, and Kohaku.

Kuro and Shiro have been fishing since earlier.

Kuro is still her usual lively self, but surprisingly, Shiro also seems to be enjoying herself, holding onto the fishing rod with a smile and staring at the float.

By the way, it seems that Shiro is not good at delicate tasks such as threading insects onto the hook or tying knots, so Kuro does it for her.

It’s amusing to see Kuro taking care of Shiro like an older sister, but looking back, these two may have been like this all along.

Elizabeth is lying comfortably in the shade of a tree, and Kohaku is climbing up Elizabeth’s horns, playing.

This place is pleasant with dappled sunlight and being near the water, so it’s nice just to laze around.

It’s the perfect place to enjoy a vacation.

“Come to think of it, what’s happening with the accessory production? Does Gisella know?”

“According to Melanie, they might just be ready around today.”

“Oh, that’s right. That’s something to look forward to.”

As a common accessory for the Bonus Company, we ordered bangles for everyone with a design that looks like pink wrapping around the arm.

Of course, in addition to that, there are also individual orders placed by each person, as well as items that have already been purchased off the shelf.

“Hey Kuro, those feathers on your earring…”

“Gya~u?”

“No, it suits you very well.”

“Kyaukya!”

Recently, for some reason, Kuro has been raising birds.

She attaches a small basket to her waist, fills it with Elizabeth’s fur, and puts chicks inside.

I was worried about what would happen if she suddenly started eating them like snacks, but it seems she doesn’t intend to do that.

And interestingly, since Kuro started raising chicks, various birds seem to be approaching us more.

Kuro, in particular, nonchalantly lets all kinds of birds perch on her shoulder and walks around with them.

It seems there’s a strange interaction with the birds that come to the hideout, giving them chick feed and the insects Kuro catches.

Sometimes, she even sings unknown songs together with small birds.

The feather decoration hanging on Kuro’s earring now was probably given to her by one of those birds.

I remember seeing her with a bird of the same color pattern perched on her head before.

It’s quite picturesque to see Kuro frolicking with colorful birds, and the earring does suit her well in reality.

As long as she pays attention to the droppings, I have no complaints.

Additionally, it seems that Kuro has received various bracelets and other accessories from Melanie and Edda.

Among our comrades, he wears the most accessories, but rather than giving a cluttered impression, it gives off a rather glamorous, butterfly-like vibe.

She works lightly and cheerfully, spinning around like dancing, even at the stall.

The way various accessories sway along with her movements is very charming.

Even the regular customers find themselves inadvertently watching Kuro.

Perhaps the most popular person at our stall is undoubtedly Kuro.

Customers who don’t even bother to greet me will smile and talk to Kuro.

“Hey, Bonus. What about me?”

“Shiro, you look beautiful too. As Melanie said, both the earrings and ear cuffs suit you well.”

“Hehe.”

Indeed, accessories truly shine against Shiro’s beautiful, snow-white short hair and bronzed skin.

Despite having a dignified face more than anyone else, she still smiles like a girl.

Knowing various aspects of her personality, I can’t help but feel even more excited.

“By the way, is that… themed after a bee?”

“Yeah, but this side is real.”

“Whoa, it moved! That startled me… in a different way, I’m feeling excited.”

“It’s okay. It’s a good bee.”

It’s a mystery what Shiro did, but sometimes she brings bees with her.

According to her, they seem to be cute neighbors…

By the way, they look round and unexpectedly cute, but they have sharp stingers.

And, these bees’ nest keeps even Kidanakemo away.

Even Elizabeth makes a displeased face when she hears their buzzing, so they might actually be dangerous.

However, they occasionally share unbelievably delicious honey with us, so I want to get along with them without fighting.

Interestingly,Elizabeth seems afraid and rarely approach these bees, but they don’t seem to scare the birds and Kuro at all.

When Kuro or birds get closer, they quickly fly away.

Indeed, there were birds that ate bees, and Kuro is good at catching insects.

Even when Shiro told Kuro not to eat bees, she nodded as if it were natural but still chased after the bees with her eyes and licked her lips.

And interestingly, it seems that birds are wary of Kohaku.

Despite being a newborn small leopard, they seem quite cautious.

When Kohaku sees birds, he instinctively tracks them with his eyes.

We need to be careful not to let him pounce on them once his body gets a little stronger…

Ideally, we’d like to live as good neighbors with each other.

“Hey, Bonus. I want you to help me think about my accessories too.”

“Sure. I think a necklace like this would suit Gisella.”

As I’m chasing bees with my eyes, Gisella speaks up next to my ear.

Next to the blueprint of a wheelbarrow, I draw the shape of the accessory as it comes to mind.

Until yesterday, Gisella seemed to have little interest in her accessories as usual.

So, apart from the common bangle, she hadn’t ordered anything… but maybe there was some change in her state of mind.

Well, she’s surprisingly lonely, so maybe she just wanted to join in because Kuro and Shiro were having fun.

“Why…?”

“Gisella, around her neck to her collarbone, feels a bit delicate and alluring to me. So, I think wearing a necklace of this shape around there would make her even more attractive.”

“Ahhh, no way! Ugh… how embarrassing… No, this is embarrassing! I’ll consult with Melanie and buy it next time.”

“Oh, I see…”

“But… I’ll go with the necklace… Alright! It’s almost lunchtime, everyone, let’s go back!”

“That’s right.”

“Gugyaa!”

“We caught a lot of fish!”

Kuro and Shiro are also peering into the basket of fish with satisfaction.

Gisella also stands up and peeks into the basket.

By the way, lunch should be prepared by Mil and Zamza.

Recently, Zamza has become interested in cooking, so while Mil acts as a teacher, the two of them cook together.

Zamza seems to be enjoying many new things.

While Mil’s choice of words is as usual, her face looks completely relaxed.

…I’m starting to worry about Zamza’s chastity.

We should hurry back.
