———————-———————-———————-

Time: Unknown, Year: Unknown, date: February ?? Location: human world

A young man was slowly walking home, his face covered in bruises. It was somewhat swollen and had a shade of purple to the skin.

He appeared to be about the age of a high school senior. While walking, his leg limped with every step.

He looked tired and battered up yet somehow still had a small smile on his face.

He looked around the streets of his town. Enjoying the peace and quiet. After he was having such a horrible day.

As he was about coming up to an alleyway, an old and crackling voice rang out from the darkness.

???: excuse me.

The man was startled by the voices as he took a few steps back from the alley. He knew he shouldn't respond, but his curiosity got the better of him.

???: U-U-Uh hello? Who there?

A frail old Homeless man walked out from the shadows before slumping down against the wall.

???: are you okay, sir?

Homeless man: I'm… quite fine, thanks for asking, young man. Well, actually, I was wondering if I could ask for some money for water. I'm really thirsty.

The teenager glanced towards his back, where his backpack rested on him.

Should he really give up the money for which he just took a beating?

It was the only cash he had, and his parents were not likely to give him any.

He contemplated the decision for a while; however, one thought really pushed him to make his decision: if he ignored the old man, what kind of person would he be to leave a homeless man without helping him?

The poor old man was asking him for help he couldn't just turn a blind eye to that. After all, he would be just like those people who watch him getting beat up and do nothing.

With a sigh He pulled off his backpack from his shoulder, showing just how ripped up it was, as it was practically falling apart.

His hand reached inside to grab the only money he had, trembling as if it feared of giving up something of such value.

???: H-Here you go, sir. Please get yourself something to drink.

Homeless man: Thank you so much. You are a kind young man. Please wait here while I go get some water. It may not be much, but let me tell you a story as repayment.

??: Oh, uh, I'm not sure, sir. I had better get home, or my mother would be more upset with me than usual.

Homeless man: please, I insisted I must repay you for your kindness.

???: "sigh" Okay, sir, please just try to be quick.

The old man smiled happily as he emerged from the alleyway and began walking down the street to the convent store.

The young person sat against the wall, which was ironic seeing it kinda symbolized the change in social standards.

He did his best to avoid being seen by anyone walking down the street, especially anyone from his school.

After some time of waiting, he heard footsteps approaching him. He looked up to see the old man again only this time holding a water bottle.

Homeless man: Thank you for the water. Young man, now please listen closely to this tale.

*Anything under here is what the old man is saying.*

Have you ever heard the old saying that everyone has a guardian angel watching over them?

That is indeed true; however, that was a very long, long time ago. They used to watch over humans, but the fear of corruption eventually rooted itself in a high seraphim angel.

So, in a rash decision, she forbade anyone from watching humans or even providing divine protection to them.

Quite intriguing, don't you think?

Now, let me tell you a story about a certain angel.

There was this angel who was part of the heavenly army and did everything they wanted of her with no hesitation . However, deep down, she felt a growing distrust in her actions.

Once the news spread that the head seraphim angel was forbidding anyone from watching the humans, her distrust only grew.

You're probably thinking, what did she do afterward right?

Well, there are these orbs that they could use to watch certain people without their knowledge, so one day, she stole one from where they were keeping them locked up.

Using it, she watched the human race, fascinated by the different actions people took in their lives. However, one such human left an impression on her.

The more she watched this human, the more she felt she could relate to him on a personal level.

No matter how horrible his life was, he always tried to smile, even if it meant smiling through the pain.

So the angel did something that, if found out, could have major repercussions against her.

She chose to give the human-divine protection even if it meant they would be banished from heaven for such an action.

*end of what he was saying*

Homeless man: that was the tale of the angel who went against the higher ruling.

???: that, uh, was an interesting story, sir.

Homeless man: haha, indeed, it was an "Interesting story"

The teenager looked at the sky for a moment before realizing how dark it has gotten .

???: Oh god, it's late when did this happen? I'm sorry, sir, but I need to leave.

Homeless man: haha, of course, go ahead I won't be taking any more of your time. Just listen to this last piece of advice and also… Here is some cash back.

He looked at the homeless man, who seemed to have a serious expression on his face. While in his hand was the same amount of cash that he had given to the old man.

Homeless man: Put your money underneath your feet when you wear your shoes. Trust me, they won't look there for it.

???: Oh, t-thank you, sir, for the advice.

The young man grabbed his backpack and started running to someplace else that was away from their current location.

The homeless man watched with a warm but soft smile as he waved him off.

Homeless man?: you will face many hardships in your future young y/n. But you will have the people there for you. Even if you can't see it yourself.

The old man turned around and started walking away back into the darkness before a flash of light went off

Then there was nothing there.
