Harry Potter: Elemental Magic Changes the World

Chapter 27: Chapter 27: Confrontation with Malfoy

"Hey, Malfoy, did your mom send you some goodies again?"

Crabbe's eyes lit up as he eagerly called out to Malfoy, who had just received a large package.

"Of course she did. Let's see what's in it this time!" Malfoy, clearly pleased with Crabbe's sycophantic enthusiasm, raised his voice deliberately and lifted the large package for all to see.

"Every Flavor Beans!"

"Nice! There are so many flavors I love here: smoked bacon, French bouillabaisse, chocolate, curry... Oh, my goodness, they even included my absolute favorite—French beef casserole!"

"Do you know how rare it is to get flavors like French beef casserole and French bouillabaisse?" Malfoy exclaimed as he proudly pulled out two packets of beans. He shot a smug glance toward the Gryffindor table, particularly in Harry's direction.

Ron couldn't help but look over, his gaze filled with envy.

Malfoy was talking about flavors Ron had only tasted once, and the sheer deliciousness was beyond words. Harry, who hadn't tried them, also found himself feeling a twinge of curiosity.

Every Flavor Beans reportedly came in over 700 varieties, some of which were exceptionally rare. There were also famously unpleasant ones, like vomit, earwax, and booger flavors. Harry had tried a few on the train but luckily avoided the disgusting ones. In the dorms, he had shared some with his roommates, but the flavors Malfoy mentioned were completely out of reach unless one was either very lucky or very wealthy.

"Hey, Neville, you've got a package too! Open it up—what's inside?"

Ron, pulling his gaze away from Malfoy's haul, turned his attention to the small package in Neville's hands.

Neville's chubby fingers trembled slightly as he excitedly unwrapped the package to reveal a glass ball about the size of an egg.

"What's this? Why is it filled with white mist? It looks pretty," Harry asked, puzzled.

"This is a Remembrall, Harry," Neville explained with a shy smile.

The mere mention of his grandmother brought an innocent, happy expression to Neville's face. She had always been so caring toward him.

"My gran got it for me because I always forget things. This ball glows red to remind me if I've forgotten something."

Neville held the Remembrall tightly, and sure enough, it turned red. However, his face immediately fell, and he looked lost.

Harry, Hermione, and Ron exchanged glances, unsure how to respond. Finally, Ron hesitated and pointed at Neville, who was still clutching the Remembrall and trying hard to remember. "Did he… forget something?"

Harry and Hermione nodded in agreement.

At that moment, Malfoy sauntered over to the Gryffindor table, snatched the Remembrall from Neville's hands, and sneered.

"Let me take a look—what's this thing?"

"It seems interesting. What do you think will happen if I drop it on the ground?" Malfoy said, tossing the Remembrall into the air and catching it with a smug grin.

Harry and Ron were livid.

"Malfoy, give the Remembrall back to Neville!" Harry glared at Malfoy, his tone firm. "Or else, you'll regret it."

"Malfoy, return it, or I'll tell Professor McGonagall," Ron chimed in.

Malfoy scoffed, retreating two steps and smirking. "Why should I return it? It's in my hands now, so it's mine."

Harry clenched his fists. Malfoy's arrogance, always flaunting his so-called pure-blood superiority, was infuriating.

Harry pulled out his wand, ready to teach Malfoy a lesson.

Malfoy smirked at the sight of the wand, snapping his fingers. Crabbe and Goyle appeared behind him, fists clenched, glaring menacingly at Harry and Ron.

Ron gulped, intimidated by Crabbe and Goyle's size and build.

"Want to fight? Three against two—we're not afraid of you."

"Harry, you know you can't use magic here. The consequences would be serious, and you know it," Malfoy taunted, tossing the Remembrall in the air.

Harry's heart raced as he watched the fragile ball being thrown around carelessly. "I'll be punished, but so will you. Breaking the rules first was your choice," Harry retorted, raising his wand.

"What's going on here?"

"Harry, are you planning to use magic in the Great Hall?"

Professor McGonagall's stern voice cut through the tension as she approached, her gaze fixed on Harry's raised wand.

"Professor McGonagall, Malfoy took my Remembrall and refuses to give it back," Neville stammered, nervously clutching his hands but summoning the courage to explain.

McGonagall turned her sharp eyes toward Malfoy and the Remembrall in his hand. "Malfoy, care to explain yourself?"

Scowling, Malfoy quickly placed the Remembrall on the table.

"You'll pay for this, Harry. See you on the Quidditch pitch," he spat before slinking away, Crabbe and Goyle in tow.

Neville retrieved his Remembrall and sighed in relief, grateful it hadn't broken.

McGonagall gave Harry a pointed look. "Remember the school rules. This is your only warning." With that, she turned and walked away.

Harry, Ron, and Hermione all exhaled deeply, relieved to avoid any deductions from Gryffindor's points.

At the teacher's table, Callister observed the commotion with a smile. Compared to the Harry of the original story, this Harry was bolder and more determined.

"After all, how many would dare draw their wand in the Great Hall?" Callister mused.

"If I'm not mistaken, they have flying lessons together this afternoon. I wonder what kind of sparks will fly then," Callister murmured, watching the four Gryffindors chatting and laughing again. A hint of anticipation flickered in her eyes.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the teacher's table, Professor Quirrell's expression darkened as he glanced at Callister before turning his attention away.

At the conclusion of the meal, Dumbledore rose, his wand waving to clear the tables of food, and made an announcement with a cheerful smile.

"Children, I have wonderful news to share. The Elemental Magic Academy is complete and will officially open tomorrow!"

"Tomorrow morning, all students and staff will attend the inaugural lecture by Professor Callister. I hope everyone arrives on time for this important occasion."

Cheers erupted across the hall as students, including Harry, Hermione, and even Malfoy, buzzed with excitement about learning elemental magic.

Dumbledore chuckled at their enthusiasm and glanced playfully at Callister, even winking mischievously.

Callister almost laughed aloud.

"Ah, Albus, so this is the kind of person you are," she thought.
