A Perfect Lie (3)
“Say something. Did you dislike it a lot when I asked to see it all the time?”
“Well…”
After a moment’s thought, Mo Yeon shrugged. Honestly, that wasn’t an issue for him at all anymore. Of course, it was tearfully shameful at first, but it’s true that he got used to it later.
Honestly, at some point it had become as natural as showing the palm of his hand. As if anticipating Mo Yeon’s reaction, Tae Young-won frowned in frustration.
“Then why are you acting like this?”
“I don’t know.”
“It’s not that you don’t know, you just don’t want to talk about it.”
“I listened to you, sunbae, and thought I had turned a normal person gay. Isn’t being deceived enough of an explanation? I feel wronged for being deceived too.”
Mo Yeon spoke familiarly. Was he getting somewhat used to his ex-lover’s clinginess?
“At this point, you’ve definitely turned a normal person gay. Can’t you grasp the situation yet? That’s why I’m doing this to you for days on end. You don’t know how much work I have to do while I’m doing this.”
“Who asked you to come pick me up every day? Why do you keep following me around? It’s so annoying. Sunbae, at this rate, you’re my stalker. Do you want to become like me?”
“I must have a reason to do so. Just like you had a reason when you stalked me.”
“…”
To think he’d hear Tae Young-won say ‘I have a reason to stalk’. He was saying things that would have made the old Tae Young-won faint. Mo Yeon blinked for a moment and asked in a tone that suggested he wasn’t curious at all.
“What’s your reason then?”
Despite hearing such shocking words from Tae Young-won, Mo Yeon was walking calmly without responding for now. But honestly, he couldn’t help being very curious.
“What if you meet some other bastard while I’m not looking?”
“What did you say?”
“Do you think I’d just sit back and watch that?”
Just as he thought it couldn’t be. Mo Yeon’s mouth fell open. How could he say such things so shamelessly without any hesitation? If someone saw Tae Young-won now, they would think he was a clingy ex-lover overflowing with lingering feelings and disregarding all sense of propriety.
“How could I meet someone else so quickly?”
“Who knows if you might seduce one man after another while working there when you’re bored? I’m already annoyed to death every time I come here and see you smiling brightly at customers without even wearing glasses.”
“When did I ever do that?”
He roughly knew how Tae Young-won thought of him, but this was just too hard to accept.
Usually, most of what Tae Young-won says is often nonsense, but above all, the most difficult thing to accept was the part about him smiling brightly.
That’s because Mo Yeon was the person furthest from ‘smiling brightly’. Until now, he had received feedback from the boss saying “Everything else is good, but it would be better if you smiled a little more when dealing with customers,” but he had never heard anything like this before.
“When do I ever smile brightly? You’re saying really ridiculous things.”
“See? Even now, you can’t help but give eye-smiles.”
While Mo Yeon was speechless, Tae Young-won seemed to recall something more. With narrowed eyes, he spoke as if very displeased.
“I saw you give chocolate to a customer last time too.”
“Are you talking about giving it to the kid? He’s in second grade elementary school.”
“It’s not just you that’s the problem. Too many unnecessary men come there. From what I’ve seen, it seems to be because of you.”
The situation is serious. Extremely serious.
All this time, whenever Tae Young-won said strange things, Mo Yeon thought he was just talking nonsense, but it seemed he was seriously under the delusion that Mo Yeon could seduce anyone and turn them gay if he wanted to.
“…Seduce or not.”
He didn’t know where to start correcting this, and honestly, he didn’t think he needed to consider that much.
“What?”
“What are you going to do if you don’t just sit back and watch? We’re not in any relationship anymore.”
“Ah, you’re subtly provoking me again.”
With a raised corner of his mouth, he grabbed Mo Yeon’s wrist and stopped him. Mo Yeon had no choice but to move as he was led.
“Mo Yeon, you can’t live without a man anyway. I think I know that better than anyone else here.”
“…”
“Isn’t it about time you needed a man again? Hm?”
As he took a step closer, their bodies were pressed close together. As the hand that slipped into his sleeve rubbed the soft skin inside his wrist, Mo Yeon bit his lip again.
“There should be a good-looking, fit, familiar gay man right in front of you. I’m waiting for that, right now.”
“…”
His lips were about to blister from constantly chewing on them since earlier.
“I thought maybe you were tired of me, but honestly, that doesn’t make sense. After seeing you just now, I’m even more certain. You’re not tired of me.”
It was exasperating to see his confidence even in this situation, but there was nothing to say. Even now, all his nerves were concentrated on the wrist held by him, driving him crazy.
It was Tae Young-won who appeared in the dream that was so ecstatic he couldn’t come to his senses all night, and it was Tae Young-won who made him react as if conditioned even to small touches.
Being attracted to him was now almost instinctive for Mo Yeon.
As Mo Yeon hesitated, Tae Young-won’s hand lifted his chin.
“How about it, is it not time yet?”
“…”
His fingers traced Mo Yeon’s jaw. His lowered eyelashes trembled, unable to meet his gaze.
“Let go.”
Finally, Mo Yeon shook off his hand. Tae Young-won frowned.
“Is the fact that I deceived you really such a big problem between us? You’re still attracted, aren’t you? We don’t have different feelings for each other, but you still can’t accept it?”
“…”
“I keep thinking there’s something else with you. Something you’re not telling me.”
No matter how he thought about it, he seemed unable to accept this situation.
“Or, did our brief relationship mean something to you?”
“…”
For a moment, time seemed to stop. Mo Yeon took a deep breath and slowly muttered.
“What meaning could it have?”
His cold voice trembled slightly. The look in his eyes as he looked up was also much sharper than before, enough for him to notice it himself.
“There’s no way it could have any meaning.”
“Right, I guess so. But I think we got along pretty well in our own way. The start was the worst, but I thought we could even become friends if we did well. I said that because I thought you felt the same way as me.”
“…”
“I felt strangely comfortable when I was with you, and I want to continue like that. If not, I wouldn’t have suggested breaking up until now. It’s just troublesome.”
His wandering pupils focused on him again. Mo Yeon spoke softly.
“That’s all from your perspective, sunbae.”
“…”
“You don’t know how I felt.”
Honestly, his heart had already wavered several times. It’s still wavering now.
“Being with you, sunbae, I didn’t enjoy it at all. Not for a moment was it pleasant, it was extremely uncomfortable.”
Until now, he had been quietly letting him do this, but it seemed impossible to win against Tae Young-won like this. Tae Young-won’s eyes narrowed more than before, as if doubting Mo Yeon’s words.
“You say it wasn’t pleasant for even a moment.”
“Yes.”
Mo Yeon didn’t avoid his gaze. And after catching his breath for a moment, he said firmly.
“And you seem to keep relying on your face since last time, but honestly, sunbae, you’re not that great.”
“Hmm.”
That comment seemed to have some impact. One of Tae Young-won’s eyebrows rose in great displeasure.
“So use that decent face to meet other people. Don’t do this to someone like me.”
“Other people?”
“You’ve lived well like that all this time anyway. It seems like you’re on your way to meet someone even now.”
“…”
From the moment he saw him earlier, he wondered why he was so dressed up. His hair half-pushed back revealing his forehead, and the suit tailored to his body was impeccably splendid.
He was originally a person who had a lot to prepare for, like internships and studying abroad, and lived a busy life, having to divide his time day by day due to the overflow of calls from people who wanted him.
He knows how nonsensical it is for him to be doing this to Mo Yeon, and he knows all too well that this won’t last long either.
“I don’t care if you meet other people, sunbae, so stop doing things that don’t suit you. It’s all just your greed anyway. You’re just doing this more because you’re upset that I rejected you. Even though you don’t really want it sincerely.”
His eyebrows twitched. Mo Yeon spoke emphatically once more.
“You asked if it’s time for me to meet a man? Yes, it is time.”
Perhaps the statement that he can’t live without a man accurately describes his situation?
Although the exact meaning would be different, Tae Young-won’s understanding isn’t much different from the reality.
And Mo Yeon hated that fact like crazy.
“But it doesn’t seem to be you, sunbae.”
After speaking coldly, he immediately bit his lip hard.
