Chapter 21: Chapter 21 : Aftermath
---
Chirping!
The referee's whistle sounded, announcing the end of the first set.
Although there was some degree of backwardness in the early stage, once Akira got to the front row, he quickly relied on his strong personal ability to gradually bring the score back.
They eventually overtook the opponent in the subsequent matches. The first set ended with a score of 25-22! While the two sides were preparing for the next set, the No. 6 uncle found Akira.
He blushed, bowed to Akira, and said loudly, "Sorry! I apologize to you for my previous words and actions!"
Looking at his fierce reaction, Akira couldn't help but be stunned. In fact, he really didn't take what these people said before to heart.
Therefore, now seeing this person so ashamed to come and apologize, Akira smiled and told him not to worry.
After all, they were teammates and still had to play together, so Akira didn't want the relationship between the two sides to become too stiff.
Seeing Akira's reaction, the discussion of the surrounding audience seemed to grow louder.
"That's right! Seeing his shameful look is really satisfying!"
"In other words, this high school student not only plays the volleyball well, but also has a big heart? He forgave him like this!"
"Yes, if this guy had said such excessive things to me before, I would have to go up and kick him twice!"
The No. 6 uncle didn't seem to have a good reputation here, and seeing him like this, everyone around began to laugh at him mercilessly.
At this moment, hearing the unbridled laughter around him, he couldn't wait to bury his head in the ground.
He didn't dare to say anything more and just lowered his head and ran away from Akira's face.
Chirping!
After halftime, the second set of the game began under the referee's whistle.
Without any suspense, Akira and the others soon won the game directly with the momentum.
Even Iwai , the strongest professional player in the opposite team, couldn't stop Akira's spike... Not to mention anyone else! And in such a battle, Akira also gradually felt the faint enhancement of his ball control!
Although it has not yet been reflected on the panel of the system, Akira knew that if the intensity of the game were stronger, and the time of the game were longer... Maybe his ball sense would improve even more!! Moreover, in the game just now, Akira already had a trace of understanding of the spike.
In the previous training matches in high school, he had relied on his own spike height to crush his opponents.
There hadn't been too many head-on confrontations like the one now! After experiencing two such aerial confrontations, he discovered some of his original shortcomings!
Akira felt that he might be able to improve the existing way of spiking the ball.
He wanted to make his spike both powerful and elusive! It's just that now the idea is just taking shape in his mind.
It also requires a lot of high-intensity practical combat to constantly verify and summarize! Powerful spiking skills come from real battles!
Now, Akira felt more and more that the Miyagi Arena was really a good place!
He heard that powerful players from other high schools in Miyagi Prefecture occasionally came here to compete. He wondered if he would meet these people!
On the other side, Iwai, who lost the game, wasn't very disappointed because that's just his character.
When faced with a setback, the first thing he thought about was turning the setback into motivation.
This time was no exception. However, he was a little worried about his younger brother, Kento.
"Alas! It's me who was so reckless!" he whispered to himself. "Originally, kento had a deep psychological shadow over this person..."
"This time I blindly pulled him over for this game, and lost so badly..." A strong sense of self-blame arose in Iwai heart.
"I don't know what Kento thinks in his heart now; I hope he won't deepen the obsession in his heart because of this..."
"Otherwise, I would really be at fault."
Thinking of this, Iwai couldn't help but turn his head to look at his younger brother. But... Iwai state surprised him. Before this match, Kento had been clearly dejected, but after losing this almost crushing game, he instead looked ahead with his head held high, his eyes full of enthusiasm.
"It's over..." Iwai heart shouted that it was not good! "Kento brain won't be damaged! Right!!?"
"If we go back like this, my mother will definitely kill me!" He was shocked by the enthusiastic look of his brother.
After hesitating, Iwai decided to try to save it.
"That... Kento , are you all right?" Iwai asked cautiously as he paced to Kento side.
"Of course I'm okay!"
"Not only that, but I still feel good now!" Kento answered his brother's question in a slightly excited tone.
"It's over! It's really over this time!" Iwai heart was wailing! Kento is still so young, his brain seems to be damaged 😭! What can I do in the future!

😮💨
Kento smiled, sensing his brother's curiosity. "This game helped me a lot! Let's go thank him now," he said, pulling Iwai towards the opposite side of the court.
"Thank him? Who are you talking about?" Iwai asked, puzzled but following along.
"Akira!" Kento exclaimed.
Akira, who was packing his belongings, heard his name called loudly from behind.
Turning, he saw the professional player who had challenged him earlier, accompanied by a younger, somewhat familiar face.
"Ah, it's you!" Akira greeted with a smile. "You've improved a lot since the last time we met!"
Kento's eyes brightened. "You remember me?"
"Of course!" Akira replied with a small grin. "You were the opposite hitter from junior high tournament, right? You played well back then!"
Kento's expression lit up even more. "Thank you, Akira! After losing to you, I felt ashamed and worthless.
But now I realize that feeling down after failure is just cowardice."
Akira chuckled at Kento's spirited demeanor. "You're an interesting one," he remarked.
Bowing deeply once again, Kento declared, "Akira, I'll catch up to you someday. When that happens, I'll challenge you again!"
"Haha!" Akira patted him on the shoulder. "I'm looking forward to it. Keep at it!" With that, he turned and walked away.
Watching Akira leave, Iwai scratched his head. "Kento, what made you change your perspective? Did you finally listen to me?"
Kento shook his head, a serious expression on his face. "Nope. It's because I realized Akira's a monster! His strength surpasses anything I've seen in junior high or high school. Why should I waste time being depressed about losing to someone like him?"
Iwai stared at his brother, dumbfounded.
"Alright, I'm heading back to train," Kento announced. "This time, we're getting a good result in the high school qualifiers!"
Before Iwai could respond, Kento bolted out of the arena.
"Hey! Wait up!" Iwai called, running after him. "Are you sure you don't need a hospital checkup for your head?"
For the next two weeks, Akira didn't attend school training. Instead, he focused solely on competitions at the local arena. After taking leave from his teachers, he immersed himself in matches, driven by an obsession to improve.
With each victory, his ranking skyrocketed. From E-level, he climbed three levels to reach B-level.
However, the greatest reward was his improved ball sense, now at 9.7—just 0.3 away from perfection.
In the process, Akira refined his unique spike technique: a powerful yet unpredictable strike where the ball changes direction mid-air.
Although still inconsistent, he felt confident that reaching a ball sense of 10 would perfect the move.
Today marked a significant milestone—his promotion match from Group B to Group A.
The competition was fierce. Group B consisted of seasoned professionals, but Group A was on another level entirely.
Players in Group A were top-tier professionals, ace players, or key members of elite teams.
Sitting in the rest area, Akira prepared for his upcoming match when a familiar voice echoed from the arena entrance.
"Been a while since I've been here," said the figure, stepping into the light. "Let's see if the old pros here have gotten rusty!"
