Chapter 536: Not going back
"Stop overthinking," Luo Huian deadpanned when another notification of the aura of gloom flashed in front of her eyes. Though every fibre in her being was too embarrassed to stay with the mer, she still tried to calm herself down. She said to the mer, "It's alright; since it has happened, we will just take things slow from here on out."
Fan Meilin, whose head was filled with all kinds of problematic thoughts, was quite surprised when he heard Luo Huian's words, for he was sure that the woman would tell him that it was a mistake and that they needed to forget what happened.
He never expected that she would actually accept the things that happened last night. He parted his lips to speak, but then, after a little pondering, he lowered his head and hummed, his gaze lingering on the many scars on Luo Huian's back.
Though Fan Meilin didn't know what happened, he was now able to see the mark on Luo Huian's back when he was certain that he couldn't see any last night when the two of them were sleeping together.
Luo Huian saw that the mer had calmed down and heaved a sigh of relief. She comforted him a little and then went back to her room to take a bath. After last night, she felt sticky and sweaty, which was really annoying; for someone as clean as her, this was simply unacceptable.
And what was even more unacceptable was that the old hag actually sent her familiar to scold her.
"I cannot believe that you did such a thing! How could you, Luo Huian? How could you fall for the trap of lust? I thought that I taught you better. I did a fine job, but you have left me embarrassed. How am I supposed to face the elders? They are refusing to let you come back after you showed such a little —"
Luo Huian caught the throat of the familiar, whose voice came to an abrupt halt. The little familiar raised her head and looked at Luo Huian, who smiled at her, but her smile was bone-chilling. It made the little familiar's body stiffen as it let out a squeak.
"Tell that old hag that I am not going to come back," Luo Huian said to the little familiar whose face was slowly turning blue. "Tell her that there is no need for her to think so much and put pressure on her little brain, for I will never return to the immortal realm."
After she finished speaking, she opened the window panes and threw the familiar out of the house and her life.
"Huian, you shouldn't say such angry words." When Xiao Bai saw that Luo Huian had actually disrespected Old Elder Luo like that, she was a bit troubled. She knew that Luo Huian was angry, but losing her temper in such a way would only cause trouble for her.
What if she was really denied entry from the immortal world?
Luo Huian closed the window panes and then turned to look at Xiao Bai and Xiao Hei, who were staring at her nervously. She curled her lips and said, "I am not angry. The words that I said just now were not angry words at all. I took this decision after careful consideration."
She knew that others might think that she was just handing out empty threats, but after last night, her desire to go back to the immortal realm completely vanished. It wasn't due to Fan Meilin sleeping with her but because she was no longer as attached to the immortal realm as she was in the beginning.
Compared to the immortal realm, where everyone treated her like some curse that they needed to avoid, Luo Huian was living a better life in the human world. At least here, everyone who was close to her took her as a living, breathing creature who also had feelings instead of suppressing her and telling her what was due and expected of her.
It was a bit sad to admit, but she found more love and affection in this world than in the immortal realm. This was why Luo Huian was afraid to stay with the Luo family of this world. She was worried that one day she would grow so fond of them that she wouldn't want to leave, and the very thing that she was scared of finally happened.
She no longer wanted to leave, and since she didn't want to go back, Luo Huian was not going to return to the immortal realm.
"What!!!?"
"Rank 2, dungeon spirit. Void destruction fix, day three of the magic spirit training. Passed."
Luo Huian listened to the report that the trainer was telling her while staring at the little fox that was licking its paw. She thought that the little thing would have a hard time accepting her commands, but it seemed like she was thinking too much. This dungeon spirit was really smart and knew how to follow her orders.
"Huian, do you really think that it is right to do such a thing?" Behind her, she could still hear the two familiars whisper, but Luo Huian ignored them. She had made up her mind, and nothing was going to change it. No matter what.
She turned to look at the little dungeon spirit and praised it: "It seems like you are doing a really good job. As long as you continue like this, I am sure one of these days you will grow strong enough to support Sister Qingling."
Luo Huian didn't have much hope when it came to this fox, as it was not only untamed but also rather wild, but she seemed to have underestimated her beauty and charm. The little thing not only followed her orders but also listened to her commands very well. It was growing well, and soon enough, it would grow strong enough to fight side by side with Luo Qingling.
As this fox could deflect the voids that Luo Qingling created, it was the perfect beast partner for her big sister.
The little fox raised her head and pounced at Luo Huian, who hugged her with one arm. After going back and forth with the fox for a while, she understood what the little thing wanted to do and immediately caught her before ruffling her fur.
"It seems like you are a bit too happy?" Luo Huian chuckled as she patted the fox on the head.
"I think you should really stay at home and not go out from now on," Luo Qingling said, looking at her sister with a frown on her face. She was really worried now. Though she did expect that her sister might be able to tame this beast, she never thought that Luo Huian would be able to do such a good job. Luo Huian actually tamed the wild fox that refused to go down, no matter what she said or did.
The idea alone was enough to shake the entire hunter world. How many hunters were trying to control the dungeon spirits that they captured such that they could make loyal and powerful partners? However, no one was able to succeed, as the dungeon spirits were wild and had no sentience. It was simply impossible, and even the council gave up.
If this went on, then she was worried that the council would certainly capture Luo Huian and make her raise the dungeon spirits for them. When she thought of how that Gu woman would do something like imprisoning her sister, Luo Qingling no longer felt the joy of getting a dungeon spirit as her pet.
When Luo Huian heard her remark, she was speechless. She turned to look at her sister and said to her, "I told you that I will be fine; do you think that I will go down without a fight ?"
"That's the thing," Luo Qingling sneered when she thought of the good things that the council had done in the past. "They do not fight fairly. I am afraid that they will try to capture you; they have done this many times in the past. And the hunters that were captured were never seen or heard from again. Why else do you think that I will be worried about you?"
"Well, if they capture me, then I will leave the matter of rescuing me to you?" Luo Huian chuckled as she turned to look at the little fox. "Isn't that right, Yuanyuan? You would come to save me if I were in trouble, right?"
As soon as she finished speaking, the little fox hissed in anger as if she could already see the danger in front of her that would harm Luo Huian.
"See this?" Luo Huian showed the fiercely protective expression of the fox to Luo Qingling and said to her, "I will be fine. Look at this; the little one is so fierce anyone would think twice before attacking me."
"That damned girl!"
