The customers however just thought that Yu Dong was being humble. They did not say anything and simply smiled at Yu Dong. While the young ones on the other hand were a bit excited to talk about job opportunities with Yu Dong.

This place might not be close to town but they have already discussed it with the workers in the greenhouse, and even though no one relayed the information about their salary to them, it was clear that the salary offered by Yu Dong was not small at all.

It might even be more than what was offered by the big mills in the town!

Yu Dong only smiled at their questions and told them that at the moment, all the vacancies were filled up but if some opened in the greenhouse, she would definitely post a notice in the mall.

She never thought that the people from the town would be willing to come to the village and work for a villager but looked like the lure of the shiny silver was really great. They were willing to work under her just because they had a feeling that the salaries of these workers were good.

And they were right. Yu Dong paid the workers of the greenhouse more than three taels a month but there was a reason. Though the work seemed rather easy, it wasn't that simple. The one at the reception had to stay polite and respectful to the customers no matter what, while the one who was in charge of helping the customers and fanning them also had to use a lot of physical strength.

Not to mention the ones who were supposed to serve and make condensed milk for the strawberries.

These jobs required a lot of hard work and efficiency and Yu Dong was not foolish enough to make the workers under her underpaid for their work.

She wanted to be a good boss, one that was praised and not cursed. More importantly, this business would be named after her sons which was why Yu Dong wanted to collect a lot of good karma for her son, she did not want this business to be cursed just because she did not do a good job.

"Madam Yu!"

A voice came from behind and Yu Dong turned to look at Qiao Nan, the mer was walking towards Yu Dong with a smile on his face while behind him, Madam Mo who had been sticking close to her official husband followed silently.

Yu Dong looked at Qiao Nan and was quite surprised. She couldn't be blamed for it, after all, Qiao Nan was now a transformed mer. He was no longer the same, sickly and wallowed-looking mer. Instead, his skin was now brighter than the moon and looked so dewy that Yu Dong felt that just a squeeze would draw water out of Qiao Nan's skin.

Clearly, he was in his late thirties but he looked even elegant and gentler than the mers in their twenties.

With a glance, Yu Dong turned to look at the women around them and sure enough, they were looking at Qiao Nan. Their eyes were filled with interest and admiration while Madam Mo's eyes, who was behind her husband, were filled with great trepidation.

She knew that her husband was popular but she did not expect him to be this popular. The women were basically salivating over him!

She hurriedly stood next to him, worried that some stinky woman would try to win over her husband.

Bah! She, Madam Mo was still alive why would her husband need another wife?

"Madam Yu! How are you?" Qiao Nan asked Yu Dong who was still recovering from her surprise. If not for the fact that Yu Dong saw Qiao Nan every now and then, she wouldn't even know that the mer in front of her was Qiao Nan and would have a hard time recognizing him.

"I am fine, Master Qiao and I don't even need to ask how you are as you look even prettier than the last time I saw you. Forgive me but now you resemble a flower under the moonlight," Yu Dong praised the mer blatantly as she knew that Qiao Nan had a deep inferiority complex and always thought that he was nothing compared to other mers as he did not have a child.

Qiao Nan blushed under Yu Dong's praise while Madam Mo frowned. If not for the fact that she knew that Yu Dong was only offering her husband genuine praise and did not mean anything else she would have boldly asserted her right to her husband.

'

Not that Qian Nan would allow that to happen but she would!

"You praise me too much," Qiao Nan said to Yu Dong, nonetheless he was really happy.

Which mer did not like to hear praise?

He was also very much willing to hear someone praise him for his look and personality.

The former Qiao Nan after losing the ability to give birth to a child as well as the affection of his wife, was like a weed growing on the side of the road. Average and useless, someone who would never attract the attention of others.

He lived in his courtyard while cooking and drinking. He thought that his life would end like that.

However, after meeting with Yu Dong and seeing how she treated her husbands who were poisoned as well. No one knew whether or not they would get pregnant in the future, everyone thought that Yu Dong was being foolish by treating some barren mers so tenderly.

After all, in the eyes of others…mers who could not give birth were useless. They should be divorced and driven out since they couldn't even do the one job that was given to them.

Qiao Nan thought the same as well.

However, when he saw Yu Dong treat Ye Liu so affectionately and even caring for his needs, he couldn't help but question why Yu Dong was treating him so well.

Back then Yu Dong looked at him as if he was asking something foolish and calmly replied,

'Isn't it because he is more of a person than a breeding sow? My husbands are good people, when I was not in any condition to raise them, they helped me. They would go out of their way to bring food on the table even when they did not have any ability.'

'They did not look down on me even though I couldn't fulfil my responsibilities. So why should I? Not to mention my husbands are rather smart and very intelligent in certain fields. I think they are more than what people make them out to be.'

Only then did Qiao Nan finally snap out of the shackles that had been put on his limbs. That was right. Even though he could not give birth to a child, his maternal family had helped Madam Mo and the rest of the Mo family many times.

Even though he almost sacrificed his life to save Madam Mo, only then did she fall for him did she not.

He had done so many things, yet every single thing was thrown to the side just because he did not have the ability to give birth.

From then on, Qiao Nan found his will to fight and survive. If his father-in-law dared to call him names, he would call the Mo family ungrateful as they forgot the life-saving grace his family had given to them.

It caused Old Master Mo to be speechless, though he tried to fight back, Qiao Nan with his swift tongue suppressed his father-in-law until he no longer spoke.

Though Qiao Nan knew that Old Master Mo still had a lot of complaints, he did not care. Now he lived for himself.

He did not care about his wife or her concubines. As long as he could live peacefully.

Why should he work so hard and wallow in self-pity and blame for a woman who couldn't even remember his life-saving grace?

It was better to throw that burden out and focus on himself. From then on, Qiao Nan started to take care of himself.

But then, the burden that he had thrown away started to stick close to him.

In the past, this would have made him overjoyed as Qiao Nan would have thought that his sufferings were finally resolved but now he felt annoyed whenever he saw Madam Mo who refused to leave his side.

Not to mention, she had changed too much. Now Madam Mo gave him the respect as the official husband that he deserved and if his father-in-law tried to make things difficult for him, Madam Mo would intervene.

When did these changes happen? It was after he met with Yu Dong!
