GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 1991: He Saw It Coming.

While the three works gods wee going all out against CARNAGE, the first sage was on his way. He too had been worried when he couldn't sense Legion anymore. But he was only slightly worried because they were still in possession of his Supreme law.

With his world fragment in their possession, he can always track their position. So finding them has never been a problem for him.

Even so, he was worried about why he couldn't sense them without the aid of his works fragment. He was so worried that he was pacing about wondering why.

He asked himself, "Could CARNAGE have escaped and killed them? That shouldn't be the case. Not after I sent Green Vine to them on a platter of gold. They should at least be able to last a while with it."

He felt that Legion shouldn't be so easy to be destroyed after they fused with an incomplete universal artifact. Even without a Supreme law, they should be able to resist CARNAGE long enough for him to interfere. After all, CARNAGE shouldn't have chaos blood yet, so it shouldn't be too dangerous.

"My investment shouldn't have gone to waste just like that."

He was wondering what had happened when he sensed that his Supreme law had been freed from the prison of cosmic force it had been in for a long while.

He didn't think too much about it and went after it like he had done many times in the previous simulations. But this time when he arrived at the scene of the fight, he encountered Ghastorix, the Keeper of Secrets, and the Serpentine World God.

The three of them were strong on their own; combined, they will be very difficult, if not impossible, for him to defeat. Their presence immediately clued him into what was really going on.

He smiled as he said, "Well played, Legion. Well played."

"It is just as I expected. You want to make me preoccupied while you escape in the chaos. Not bad at all."

Then he took out his apocalypse weapon and went to do battle with the three of them.

Actually, Legion didn't plan this. They didn't even know that Ghastorix, the keeper of secrets, and the Serpentine world god were working together. After all, this was a secret. Read latest chapters on My Virtual Library Empire

They knew of these three individually, but not together. They knew Ghastorix because he was their preferred target of attack, as they believed that he was a weak world god.

But that presumption is wrong. Ghastorix is not weak anymore. He managed to raid a realm tree and fix his weakness.

They knew the Serpentine world god when they met his Supreme law during the unified skill index. As for the keeper of secrets, they knew her as the one who had always been spying on them.

They settled on using the Serpentine world god and sent CARNAGE to him because they believed that if he could engage in a competition with the first sage, he should be able to match the first sage.

They also knew his supreme law better than they did with Ghastorix's, and they thought that Ghastorix didn't know the value of CARNAGE, so he would have no reason to fight the first sage for it if the first sage were to offer to help him subdue CARNAGE.

They were also hoping that the Serpentine world god's loss to the first sage in the unified skill index would make him antagonize the first sage, so they unanimously decided to send CARNAGE to him instead of Ghastorix.

According to their plan, it would just be the Serpenting world god and the first sage fighting. So their plan had already gone awry right from the start.

They didn't know this. Not that it would help them to fix anything. This isn't a simulation, and there is no do-over.

The only person prepared for this scenario was the first sage. This is the power of the aspect of Probability. He had already foreseen this exact situation at the very moment when Legion put his world fragment into their Kickstarter.

Not even the keeper of secrets with the aspect of Secrets, who could hide from the first sage's divination, could escape from this fate. She and her two allies were caught off guard by the development.

They didn't expect CARNAGE to find them, and they didn't expect the first sage to come stabbing a spear at them as they were building the special container for CARNAGE.

The apocalypse weapon was in the shape of a spear. Wherever the spear passed, the world was divided; matter, Matter, Energy, and laws were banished.

This is the power of an apocalypse weapon. It severs the link between reality and power. For a world god, it severs their link between their Supreme law and their world.

The Apocalypse weapon effectively turns world gods into Supreme Origin gods. No one is exempt from this. Not even the wielder of the weapon. So the first sage himself has become as weak as a Supreme Origin god.

What determines who will win in a fight with an apocalypse weapon is who has a better Supreme law. As that is what the two of them have to use against each other in the absence of the power of their world.

But whoever will win has to win quickly because the world of both parties will be decaying after the connection to their Supreme laws has been severed.

It is why the weapon is called an apocalypse weapon. It ushers in the apocalypse to whatever world it makes contact with.

It is an indiscriminate world god-killing weapon. Only world gods with weak worlds, strong Supreme laws, and who don't mind the destruction of their worlds will dare to use it.

The first sage doesn't have a weak world. In fact, his powerful world is the bulk of his power, so he must win this fight quickly, or he too will suffer.

But he wasn't worried. After all, he had been preparing for this fight for a long time.

A/N: Do you guys remember the vision the first sage had when his world fragment was used against his will by Legion to build the kickstarter for the world engine? Seems like such a long time ago.
