Chapter 743: Show No Mercy
As the serpent's enormous body emerged from the portal, everyone standing in the vicinity felt their hearts turn cold.
This was a true predator!
Just a single glance at it caused the Magi's bodies to uncontrollably tremble. The serpent radiated an aura of danger and terror so deep, that it was unlike anything they'd ever witnessed.
Just being in its presence caused some of the weaker Mana Foundation Magi to lose consciousness. The pressure was far too much for them to bear.
Even some of the weaker serpents that had been summoned showed signs of fear in the presence of this powerful creature.
After the serpent arrived on the battlefield, Adam willed the portal to the Spirit World to close.
The enormous serpent, its obsidian scales reflecting the light of the sun, and its topaz eyes glimmering with intelligence, slithered across the urban battlefield and finally arrived before Adam.
This was the summoner who had called him from the Coil.
It curiously glanced at the raven-haired youth. Then, its gaze landed on the staff he was wielding, causing its black vertical pupils to constrict.
The snake lowered its head, bringing it right before Adam.
Despite standing in such close proximity to the terrifying creature, the youth showed no signs of fear whatsoever.
Instead, he looked at it with a faint smile like he was welcoming an old friend.
The black serpent's body was more than fifty meters long, and despite lowering itself and bringing its head towards the ground, its height was still tall enough that Adam had to raise his head to meet eyes with it.
The serpent's gaze flickered between Adam and the staff repeatedly, curiosity sparkling in his topaz eyes.
It then gazed at Adam and spoke in snaketongue, "Fearlesssss."
Then, it shifted its gaze to the Staff of Calamity and added, "Ssssstrong."
"Heh." Adam chuckled, spinning the staff in his hand and then resting its shaft on his shoulder. "You like my new weapon? It was a gift from someone from the Coil."
"A gift?" The snake's curiosity was piqued, and it couldn't help but ask. "From who?"
"I'll tell you all about it later, eh?" Adam assured the snake. "For now, how about we take care of those necromancers? I get to kill them, you get to eat them. Win-win."
The serpent raised its head, looking into the near-distant sea. It could sense three mana signatures of powerful individuals there.
However, instead of feeling fear or nervousness, its eyes shone with excitement and a hunger for war.
It lowered its head again, bringing it closer to Adam. "All three, mine to eat."
"Deal." Adam nodded. He paused for a moment before asking with a smile, "Your name?"
"Ssssssa'kul."
"Constantine," the youth introduced himself as well. "Adam Constantine."
Sa'kul lowered his giant scaly head even lower, allowing the youth the honor to ride on it. "Consssstantine," he said. "Let us go to war."
Adam grinned as he leaped atop the serpent's head. Without even needing to send an instruction, Sa'kul slithered towards the dockside and plunged into the water.
Then, at a terrifying speed, it swam towards the three Magi of the Cult.
The Magi who had wtinessed the entire scene of Adam summoning a Rank 3 creature and then heading to face off three Mana Vortex Magi were stunned into silence.
These Magi of Ravenfell could not believe that they would get to see such an outcome in today's battle.
A moment later, they could feel their blood pumping from exhilaration. They were ecstatic to know that a powerful warrior like Adam was on their side.
Raidon, the second-in-command of the Black Legion, suddenly raised his blade and screamed at the top of his lungs, "Warriors of Ravenfell, victory is but within reach!
"Fight alongside the serpents of war! Show no mercy to the enemies! Today, we shall bathe in their blood! For Ravenfell! For Lord Constantine! For... the Dark King!"
"HOO-AHH!"
"HOO-AHH!"
"HOO-AHH!"
…
In another part of the city, Nylian Feno was battling the one-eyed Magus, Barnabas Booth of the Umbra Thieves, and another Rank 3 Magus from the Cult of Bones.
The moment Adam had summoned the serpents from the coil, a terrifying and primal aura had spread to all parts of the city.
This caused Nylian and his two enemies to momentarily pause their battle.
Even from where they stood, they could sense what was happening on the battlefield by the dockside.
They had seen how Adam had effortlessly attacked three cultists and sent them flying toward the sea, effectively shifting their battle far away from the city.
Moreover, they had also seen the youth summon a giant serpent whose strength was no different from theirs, and head to the sea to battle Malcolm Morgan and the two other Mana Vortex Magi with them.
Nylian turned to look at his two opponents and smirked, "Well... how about that? The tables have turned."
Barnabas Booth had an extremely ugly expression on his face. Worse than him was the necromancer from the cult.
The main advantage that a necromancer possessed was the overbearing number of undead creatures that they employed, easily overpowering and outnumbering their opponents.
However, now not only had Adam offset their greatest advantage, but had even managed to summon more serpents than their undead creatures!
"This shouldn't have happened," the cultist muttered under his breath. "We didn't know that Constantine could summon an army of serpents."
Nylian's eyes narrowed at that remark, and he couldn't help but coldly state, "What are you cultists planning?"
The necromancer turned to look at the elf and spat, "You don't need to know such—"
But before he could even finish his sentence, Nylian had already arrived before him, hacking his mana-infused blade at the man's neck with terrifying killing intent.
However, Barnbas Booth had also launched an attack, aiming straight for the elf's head.
At the last moment, the one-eyed Magus' fist passed through the elf's head. But it was only an after-image!
Through exemplary footwork alone, Nylian had dodged the attack and now had both enemies exactly where he wanted. He positioned himself in mid-air and cast a deadly spell.
Rank 3 Spell: Wind Blades!
And before they knew it, the two Magi were drowned in a tempest of blades that bore through their bodies.
Nylian landed on the ground, his eyes flashing with a vicious light. Without waiting for a moment longer, he shot forward into the torrent of wind blades.
His twin blades gleamed with a cold light and he turned into a westerly flash of light.
The elf came to a stop on the other side of his enemies, his blades dripping with blood.
THUD!
The Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magus from the Cult of Bones was instantly beheaded by Nylian's attack.
As for Barnabass Booth, although he was alive, his body was riddled with deep scars as a result of the elf's spell.
Nylian Feno turned around and pointed his blade at the one-eyed Magus. His lips parted and he coldly declared.
"Your turn."
