Chapter 666: 610 Chapter The Choice of the Little White Dragon
With his Divine Sense, he controlled the Jingu Bang to draw Zhu Bajie into it, and then the staff transformed into a thin needle and flew into Sun Wukong's ear. After one more look at the Battle Buddha Sect which he had caused into a chaotic state, Wukong chuckled and soared back to the Buddha-worshipping Sect. In time, he planned to present all the goods he obtained from the Battle Buddha Sect to the Buddha-worshipping Sect, as well as account for neutralizing their threat - that gift should be quite sufficient. As the sky began to brighten, Wukong had already arrived at the gates of the Buddha-worshipping Sect. Just as he approached the entrance, he frowned slightly and, with a few flashes, arrived in front of a firewood shed.
Even though dawn was only just breaking, someone was already chopping wood and cooking in the shed, and this person was known to Wukong—it was the young monk who had led him and the others to the Buddha-worshipping Sect. Observing the young monk splitting wood and cooking, Wukong fell into contemplation. He hadn't noticed at first, but after his trip to the Battle Buddha Sect and seeing those four individuals, he realized something was off with the young monk. He was the seventh person sought by the Battle Buddha Sect, the last one. The enemy thought they could deceive Wukong, but under his Heaven and Earth Fire Eyes, all was in vain. Wukong had long noticed that the two individuals guarding the second floor of the Treasure Pavilion shared the same air as the four he had seen.
Now, as soon as Wukong returned to the Buddha-worshipping Sect, he immediately realized that the young monk was also born with that special air, but his cultivation was too low, and he was unaware of it, so that air was faint. That's why the people from the Battle Buddha Sect had not found him yet. Although Wukong had told the enemy that the legend of eternal life was false, he guessed that the enemy would not give up until they hit a dead end. The young monk, seeing Wukong suddenly appear, didn't show too much surprise; he stood up, saluted Wukong, and then continued to chop wood and cook, appearing quite indifferent.
Wukong smiled, then reached out and pointed at the young monk's forehead, then turned and left, while the young monk, seemingly without feeling anything, continued to chop wood. However, that faint unique air about him had been completely sealed by Wukong. This air would not be of any benefit to his cultivation, so even if sealed, it wouldn't affect the young monk's cultivation in the future.
Wukong then went to Sanzang's meditation room. He did not share the night's experiences with his master but merely greeted him and informed him of his return. He then went back to his own room. Once there, Wukong released Zhu Bajie, whose aura and Divine Sense had largely recovered and was soon ready to transform. Seeing that Bajie wasn't harmed, Wukong felt relieved. After closing the door, he went to find the White Dragon. The previous night, while Wukong's Divine Sense had entered the world within the Jingu Bang, he discovered that the mysterious seal the White Dragon had brought had completely assimilated the ground where it was placed into a very peculiar type of metal.
Thus, Wukong was fairly certain that the transformation of the White Dragon's Water Attribute was definitely caused by the presence of the seal. In just a few days, it had assimilated the ground into metal, and a very special one at that. Now, Wukong needed to find the White Dragon to discuss this situation. When Wukong located the White Dragon, he was meditating in his room. As Wukong entered, the White Dragon woke up.
"Eldest brother, is everything resolved from last night?" Wukong nodded and said, "The Battle Buddha Sect has been disbanded, and they will no longer threaten the Buddha-worshipping Sect. I came to find you because of that seal. Don't resist; I'm taking you somewhere." The White Dragon nodded, and Wukong then led him to the space within the Jingu Bang. Unlike Bajie's reaction upon entering, the White Dragon was immediately astonished by the intense Spiritual Energy that was unlike anything he had encountered. The Spiritual Energy in this world within the artifact was more than ten times denser than that of Buddha's Pure Land.
The White Dragon could feel the almost tangible Spiritual Power not needing his active absorption, as it seeped through the pores of his body on its own. He was certain that cultivating here for a day would be equivalent to more than a dozen days outside. The White Dragon looked around in amazement, seemingly struggling to comprehend. "The Spiritual Energy here is almost comparable to the star I previously absorbed. Eldest brother, where is this?" Wukong explained, "This is a world born within my Jingu Bang. From now on, every three days, I will allow the master and you to cultivate here for one day. The Spirit Power here is very pure. However, we aren't here to cultivate this time. Come with me; I'll show you your seal!"
Then, Wukong led the White Dragon to a place that originally hosted the Wasteland Soil Stele. After Wukong took the stele, this place had become the richest in Earth Attribute Spiritual Stones, and a supremely pure kind at that. Soon, the White Dragon saw his seal on a golden metallic platform standing at the height of a person.
Sun Wukong pointed at the metal platform and said, "Originally, this was condensed from the Earth Attribute Spiritual Energy, but now, it has completely transformed into metal. And the ground nearby has all turned to metal too. Your seal is truly no ordinary object." As Sun Wukong spoke, White Dragon indeed discovered that the nearby ground had all turned into a strange metal. After a few glances, White Dragon suddenly muttered a soft "eh" and then squatted down, extending a finger to touch the vast expanse of strange metal on the ground. Then, to Sun Wukong's astonishment, the strange metal on the ground began to flow along White Dragon's finger and was absorbed into his body. The hard metal seemed to become liquid, truly an incredible sight. And the metal platform, too, seemed to melt and was similarly absorbed into White Dragon's body.
The seal floated to the front of White Dragon, emanating Golden Light on its own. After absorbing all the strange metal, White Dragon finally took a deep breath and said to Sun Wukong, "Elder Brother, I think this seal was meant for me. After absorbing it just now, my Water Attribute Spiritual Power has been assimilated a little more, and I can clearly feel myself growing stronger. Elder Brother, I've decided that no matter the origin of this seal, as long as it can make me stronger, I will accept it. And now, it seems to have caused no harm to me!"
"You really don't need to do this. If you want to become stronger, Elder Brother has many methods. You've seen, the Spiritual Energy in this world is over ten times that of the outside, and there are all kinds of Elixirs and Magic Treasures as well. This seal is really quite strange, assimilating Spiritual Power. If it causes you any harm in the future, it will be too late for regrets!" Even though Sun Wukong hadn't found anything wrong with the seal so far, he still felt that White Dragon's actions were somewhat improper.
"Elder Brother, I appreciate your kindness, but I also have my own path to follow, and this seal is my path. Don't worry, I can feel that the seal brings me only benefits, not harm." Sun Wukong shook his head helplessly. "Since you've already had your realization, let's do as you say. Remember, if anything goes wrong, tell me immediately. Ah, why are you so much like your Second Brother, always getting into such dangerous situations?"
White Dragon smiled, and then the two left the area. They woke up Sha Wujing and, after checking on Bajie, who was soundly asleep, roused him as well. The group of four then went to Sanzang's room. Sanzang was chanting scriptures, and soon, a young monk came to invite them to breakfast. After breakfast, the Sect Master of the Buddha-worshipping Sect, Bright Ritual Wisdom Light Buddha, invited Sanzang and his disciples to his Meditation Room. The original intention of Wisdom Light Monk was to discuss with Sanzang and his disciples their stay, as their conversation the previous day had been all about the Buddhist Law and had not touched on the intentions of Sanzang and his group.
Before Wisdom Light Monk could speak, Sun Wukong took the initiative and said, "Master Wisdom Light, the five of us, master and disciples, come from a minor world, our purpose being to travel to the Divine Kingdom in the Ancient Primordial World. However, due to the insufficient Cultivation of my master and his disciples, we need to practice in Buddha's Pure Land for some time. During this period, may we impose upon your hospitality for a while?" Sun Wukong's words were very courteous and also very clear. Being a person of great wisdom, Wisdom Light Monk not only understood Sun Wukong's meaning but also read into the further implications of his words.
Smiling, Wisdom Light Monk responded, "There's no need for formalities, gentlemen. Last night, I discussed with the elders and decided to honor Sanzang, the Holy Monk, as our highest patron of the Buddha-worshipping Sect. On a daily basis, the Holy Monk Sanzang need not concern himself with any worldly affairs and should focus solely on Cultivation of the Buddhist Law. And our Buddha-worshipping Sect will not interfere too much with you all. However, we hope that you will lend a hand in times of trouble for our Sect—this poor monk would be eternally grateful!"
Sun Wukong didn't accept or decline but looked towards Sanzang. Sanzang nodded slightly and said, "To meet is to be karmically intertwined, and moreover, the Buddhist rites imparted by Master Wisdom Light have been tremendously beneficial to me. Since Master Wisdom Light holds us in such high esteem, it would be disrespectful for us to refuse. Wukong, what about last night's matter?" Sun Wukong nodded and took a Storage Bag from his bosom, which was not a high-level item but something he had borrowed from a disciple of the Battle Buddha Sect. All the items obtained from the Battle Buddha Sect, except for the Zen Staff and Kasaya, were inside this bag. Sun Wukong had planned to keep some of the Elixirs, but he found that their grades were too low to catch his interest.
"Master Wisdom Light, these are all the items from the Battle Buddha Sect's Treasure Vault, to compensate for our stay here. Moreover, the Battle Buddha Sect should have completely disbanded by now, so you no longer have to worry about them causing any more trouble." After saying this, he handed the Storage Bag to Wisdom Light Monk. Wisdom Light Monk mechanically took it, still not fully processing what he had just heard! (To be continued.
