Chapter 105: Chapter 105 Steamed Buns

The sudden turn of events left the two doctors in the tent utterly dumbfounded, while Sanbica just stared at Law in a daze.

"From now on, no matter how much pain you feel, you must not make a sound, or I will crush your heart."

Law gradually increased the grip on the heart, and the fat officer was overwhelmed by terror. With his limited understanding, he didn't understand what's going on.

However, when he felt the pain on his chest becoming more and more intense, he understood that the heart in Law's hand was indeed his.

After hearing what Law said, the fat officer endured the pain and covered his mouth tightly with both hands, for fear of leaking out any sound.

Cold sweat poured down his face, quickly soaking his uniform. His body was trembling slightly, and his beady eyes were filled with fear.

"Law, what is this…?" Sanbica asked hesitantly.

"My Nen Ability."

Law replied without looking at her. He kept looking at the fat officer, whose face was gradually turning pale, and slowly eased the pressure.

The gradual increase in force was a calculated move, which meant to make the officer acutely aware of his situation.

Only by feeling death getting closer and closer, and feeling the panic and helplessness of having his heart controlled by others can he surrender.

After all, he is just a corrupt soldier.

'What exactly is your Nen Ability?' Sanbica looked at Law deeply. She did not ask this question, but kept it in her heart.

The more she witnessed Law's Nen Ability, the more curious she became. His Nen Ability seemed to defy everything her teacher had taught her.

"Okay, now we can talk."

Law completely relaxed his grip and then looked at the fat officer, who is slumped in the chair.

While God Hand cannot directly manipulate someone's will, it can be used to threaten others.

If used properly, Law could use this method to threaten the ruler of a country.

Half an hour later.

Law and Sanbica stood outside the makeshift military camp, staring at the flames burning the bodies in the distance.

By threatening the cowardly officer with his life, Law was able to restore the material aid and allow the two doctors to bring their team and corresponding equipment into the slums.

Now, Law and Sanbica are waiting for the medical team to prepare. But if they are unwilling to risk their lives and enter the slum, they will not force them.

"Thank you."

Sanbica suddenly thanked Law.

Law scratched his cheek and sighed, "Whenever something involves a virus, you throw yourself in headfirst. While I admire your dedication, you can't focus solely on the virus."

"Let's not talk about the food problem inside the slum. Even if you quickly solve the infectious virus problem, have you ever thought about how to leave the slums?"

"Just looking at those people, who don't seem infected but are starving, you should realize the military has no intention of letting anyone leave the slum after the lockdown."

After hearing Law's words, Sanbica was silent for a while, then replied seriously: "I've thought about how to leave the slum after solving the issue."

"Oh? And how do you plan to leave?" Law was a little surprised. He had thought Sanbica hadn't considered such details and was only thinking about entering the slums as soon as possible to deal with the virus.

"You're here, aren't you?" Sanbica turned her head and looked at Law quietly. She had seen Law's ability to stop bullets easily, which rendered the soldiers' guns useless.

Law was stunned when he heard this, and after a moment, he said helplessly: "You win."

Sanbica chuckled silently, but her smile is hidden by her mask, so Law couldn't see.

"Law, why did you propose that condition?"

Law knew Sambica was referring to his condition of three months of cooperation. He did not hide his motives and replied directly, "Because I'm very interested in your Nen Ability. If I understand it more deeply, it might give me some inspiration."

That night, he used the G2 Virus as leverage and proposed this condition to Sanbica in order to force her to stay.

Of course, the terms had been mutual, and Sanbica also added a lot of corresponding conditions, including freedom of movement, a restriction on physical contact, and an agreement to proceed with her planned itinerary.

"Inspiration?" Sanbica's eyes narrowed slightly, and she immediately thought of Law's versatile Nen Ability.

"My Nen Ability have a characteristic, which you can consider as separation, just like I separated the officer's heart just now."

Law stared straight ahead and said, "Your Nen Ability allows you to control virus, so I was thinking: Even if I can't control the viruses, maybe I could figure out a way to separate them."

At this point, Law let out a bitter chuckle, "To be honest, I've tried following that train of thought myself, but I failed. It feels like... I have successfully scooped up water with my hands, but no matter how careful I was, the water always slipped through."

'What a terrifying person...'

Sanbica's eyes glimmered with awe, 'Just by knowing I could manipulate viruses, he had deduced the possibility, experimented on his own, and even managed to get close to a breakthrough.'

'No wonder his Nen Ability were so versatile. But how much talent must a person have to achieve what Law had?'

"Maybe... you really can pull it off. If I can help you, I'd be willing to try." Sanbica offered.

"Thanks." Law replied with a smile.

The medical team that decided to join them consisted of only five people, including the two doctors from the tent.

The group of seven people, carrying relevant equipment and some supplies, crossed the boundary between life and death under the pitying gazes of the soldiers.

The group of emaciated people stared blankly Law and the others, showing no reaction.

"Are you two really not going to wear protective suits?" The most senior doctor asked worriedly.

"No need." Sanbica replied curtly. Her unique constitution made her immune to viruses, and Law's Nen Ability could also keep the virus out.

Sanbica turned to the senior doctor and asked, "How much do you know about this unknown virus?"

The senior doctor said in a deep voice: "We don't know much. The doctor who first came into contact with the patient was infected. After that, the military forcibly quarantined the slum and burned everything related to the outbreak."

At this point, the senior doctor sighed and said bitterly: "The military only told us that this is an unknown virus that is highly contagious, and described its symptoms and causes of death. But apart from that, we were powerless. In desperation, all we can do is to look up at existing information, but we found nothing useful."

"This unknown virus appeared very suddenly, and we don't even know who the first infected person was."

"Are the symptoms fatigue, muscle pain, and eventual death due to massive internal bleeding?" Sanbica asked, referencing to the information she had found online.

The senior doctor nodded solemnly.

"What about the incubation period?" Sanbica continued to ask.

"We don't know." The senior doctor shook his head.

Hearing this, Sanbica frowned slightly. Just as the senior doctor said, even though they had been here for a while, they were restricted by the military and could not conduct further research, so the information they learned was similar to hers.

'The government's response was too apathetic... Was it because the remaining people in the slums are dispensable for them?'

The buildings in slums are very densely packed and close together, but are generally not very tall.

When they walked deeper inside, they saw a dead body lying on the side of the road, and no one cared about it.

Along the way, they also saw people sitting on the ground or leaning against the wall. They all had dull eyes and were as thin as skin and bones.

The scene was dark and chilling.

Instead of Law and the others, the people in the slums basically focused their attention on their equipment, and the bags and barrels that seemed to contain food.

These people carried no hope for life, only the stench of death.

They were a group of people so desperate that they could only wait for death.

Law looked at the people around them, 'Compared to the unknown virus, the people here looked more like they would die from starvation.'

Suddenly, several people, who were obviously in better condition, ran out of a wooden house. All of them were men, dressed in medical attire.

"Finally..." When these people looked at Law and they others, they cried with joy. They were the first volunteers to enter the slums.

The group followed the volunteers into the house, and began unloading the equipment and supplies.

Since Law lacked knowledge about viruses, he didn't participate in their discussions. Instead, he quietly carried the supplies into the kitchen.

Before the military delivered the next batch of supplies, he decided to make steamed buns for the starving slum people.

The method of making steamed buns is relatively simple but time-consuming.

Since the kitchen lacked a steamer, Law dismantled part of the wooden wall and used his abilities to create a six-layer steamer on the spot. Then, he immediately got to work.

More than an hour later, the first batch of steamed buns was ready.

Carrying the freshly steamed buns and some water, Law walked out through a hole in the wall. He dipped the buns in the water, and distributed them to the people sitting or lying on the street along the way.

To the starving slum people, a piece of hot and moist steamed bun is undoubtedly the beacon of hope at this moment, and it is also the most delicious food they had tasted.

It didn't take long for Law to divide up all the steamed buns. Instead of counting how many he'd handed out, Law returned to the kitchen as quickly as possible to continue making the second batch.

When the others finally noticed what he was doing, they were surprised.

As doctors, the first thing they did after arriving here was naturally to treat illnesses, but the first thing Law thought of when he arrived here was to distribute food.

And the reason Law doing this has nothing to do with adding pages... He just thought that the people he saw along the way looked like they were starving to death.
