The next day, the cold light of dawn entered through the window in Stannon's room. The wooden training dummy, beaten up from his training yesterday, stood as a reminder of his dedication. But today was different. Today, Stannon was going to take the next step. He had made some arrangements with Jory yesterday that would help him becoming stronger.

Already awake and dressed in his simple clothes, Stannon moved across the room quickly. He looked at the system panel floating before him, noting with satisfaction that his cooldown period had ended and he was free to use the copying function once again.

Stannon stood by his desk where the knife he had been practicing with lay, shining in the dim light. After thinking for a moment, he walked to the door and opened it. As expected, Jory was standing there, waiting. The man's stern face softened slightly when he saw his lord, though his respect was clear.

"Jory," Stannon said, his voice calm but firm. "Are the animals ready?"

Jory responded immediately. "Yes, my prince. The creatures you asked for are in the stables, each in separate enclosures as you ordered."

Stannon nodded, pleased with Jory's quickness. "Good. Lead the way. I need to examine each one."

Jory looked puzzled but bowed and motioned for Stannon to follow him. "Of course, my prince. Right this way."

Stannon followed his servant through the stone halls of the castle. They passed through the great hall and out into the courtyard, where Jory led him to a large shed near the stables. Inside, the warmth of the shed welcomed him, filled with the smell of hay and the occasional whinny of a horse. But it was the smaller pens along the wall that grabbed his attention.

There were birds, from common sparrows to more exotic species. Small mammals like squirrels, rabbits, and ferrets huddled in cages. Alongside them, reptiles rested in the corners, and in one large pen, a few small deer were contained. The collection was impressive, but it was the last pen that Stannon found most interesting. In it, a large, injured wild boar lay, its tusks sparkling in the dim light.

"This one was tough to catch," Jory said, a rare hint of pride in his voice. "But it's calm now, though still dangerous."

Stannon wondered whether Jory himself had caught it and that too so late at night. He wondered whether he should give Jory more credit for what he had done for him.

"You have my gratitude, Jory," he spoke sincerely to make all this available on short notice.

"Of course my lord, it's my duty," the simple minded Jory seemed to be pleased as his efforts were recognised by his prince.

Stannon studied the boar closely. Its dark eyes held a wild fury, but it lay still, breathing heavily.

"Perfect," Stannon muttered to himself. "Leave us now. I won't need anything else from you."

Jory hesitated but then nodded. "As you wish, my lord. I'll be nearby if you need anything."

With that, Jory stepped out of the shed, leaving Stannon alone. The room grew still as Stannon focused, readying himself for the task ahead.

He knew that he was lucky that he was able to generate the abilities and skills of Robert and Jory with a 50% probability and he needed that luck now.

Stannon didn't waste any time. His mind was focused, and but his heart was beating with excitement. There was no room for hesitation as he moved towards the boar, the wild creature lying still in the pen. The boar had been captured and restrained, but it still had a powerful presence. Stannon knew this would be the perfect test for his abilities.

He placed his hand gently on the boar's forehead, and the moment his skin touched the beast, he felt a strange shiver. Almost immediately, a panel appeared before his eyes, familiar and efficient.

This skill enhances the individual's ability to locate food and resources in the wild. Whether it's spotting wild edibles, tracking down water sources, or identifying shelter opportunities, their keen senses and knowledge of the environment ensure they thrive in wilderness survival situations.

"Noice," Stannon whispered to himself as he looked at the abilities and skills the system had just generated.

But then, his mind wandered to something else. Why did the boar have an ability, but Jory didn't?

He looked back at the boar, still lying in its pen, breathing slowly. It had granted him the Iron Hide ability, which made his skin tough and resistant to damage, and Foraging Instinct, which would help him find food and resources in the wild. But Jory, despite his years of training, didn't seem to have any abilities.

'Could it be that Jory's ability just hadn't developed yet?' Stannon thought. 'Or maybe the system wasn't able to generate abilities of Jory?'

It might just be a matter of luck, or the system could have a much more complicated process than he realized.

Of course he didn't like it. But in the end, he knew better than to complain about it. The system was a useful one, and he couldn't afford to be picky no matter how many rules there were. Afterall, he was lucky enough to get such a cheat in the first place.

He pushed those thoughts aside and turned his attention back to the boar. He had a job to do—he needed to copy the Iron Hide ability which he quickly directed the system to do so.

The moment he directed the system to copy the ability, Stannon felt a sudden, intense heat surge through his body. It started slowly but quickly became unbearable.

Pain shot through him, spreading through his body like fire. His breath caught in his chest as the sensation spread. It felt as if his very insides were burning. Vapor began to rise from his skin, swirling around him as though his body was releasing heat. Stannon clenched his teeth, forcing himself to endure and not scream out. He had to stay in contact with the boar to copy the ability, no matter how much it hurt.

'I should've done this in my room,' he thought in the of the pain. But he knew he couldn't bring the boar inside... it would be too suspicious otherwise. He bit down on his lip and focused on the task at hand.

The heat inside him only grew, making every part of his body feel like it was radiating with intense energy. The pain was overwhelming, but he refused to let go. He knew that he had to push through it. This was how the system worked, and he had no choice but to trust it.

After what felt like an eternity, the pain began to ease, leaving behind a strange tingling feeling.

Stannon took a deep breath, his body still feeling the effects of the transformation. His skin was now felt thicker, tougher.

He flexed his fingers, testing his new strength. His joints felt sturdier, his body more resistant to pressure. He knew that the Iron Hide ability had fully transferred to him, making his skin more durable, like armor. He felt a small rush of excitement as this power would definitely become far more overpowered once he upgrades it a few times.

Stannon noticed that the boar seemed to have become restless after he had copied the ability. He wondered if the creature could sense the change in him, the transfer of its ability. But he shook off that thought as it was just him feeling a bit paranoid.

He then stepped away from the boar, ready to leave the stable. With the Iron Hide ability gained, he was more prepared for whatever came next. But for now, he needed to get some rest to fully adjust to the change and also wait for the cooldown period to be over.
